No need to remove the gear knob and no need to remove the chrome surround or the selector indicator plug. Just pull up the front of the gear cover and slide forward and it will move far enough to give good access.
No need to use brute forcee when removing the outer ring. there are 4 clips. just push them in with a knive or a sharp screwdriver and the ring can be pulled up and removed.
@@Yoursupportsystemtoday Don't just try to pull it off. You have to push the clips inwards very gently. When you look on the bottom of the round knob, you can see a seam between the outer metal part and the inner plastic piece. you have to find the clips on the plastic part and push them in with a sharp tool.
@@Maxfahrer thank you! I ended up breaking whole thing, spent 5 hours on it, cut myself with a screwdriver, went and bought a new complete OEM used console for $80 and had it installed by the mechanic 😂 wish I never attempted to do it.
No need to remove outer collar on dial knob. Heat gun (hair dryer) on the centre flat area (2mins) melts the glue and a small screw driver down the side will pop off the flat disc and allow access to the centre screw. Otherwise, good video. Thanks.
All other functions on the knob seem to work except the tone controls... The knob scrolls back and forth but cannot adjust the tones (bass, treble, front and back, left and right speakers)...do you think it is the command knob? Thanks.
I cant even halfway lift out the command knob unit because the flat white wire is so tight...and looking closely the flat white wire looks like it runs from the unit down through that hole and backwards under the cupholder area and not towards the gear shifter almost as if the center console was lifted at some point and it got caught under it. Now I’m stumped.

I can't pull it off 😭 it feels like I'm going to break everything

Is it possible to switch out the control knob with the touchpad?

@@robertocurry1386 did you findout if you can switch them out with the touch pad? Im trying to do the same but cant find any video or info on it
Do you need to reprogram once the knob is replaced?
No need
the screw goes not into the new axle for me.

Sorry mate. Probably someone already removed it? Just try again with some hooks or long nose pliers
Thanks
