    Thank you for your videos. I have been having a huge problem with the carburetor & found out Honda does not cover it 👎🏼 I did purchase full warranty for it. It’s only 1 year since purchase & I take it in for maintenance.

      Wow, sorry to hear that. Not sure how an extended warranty doesn't cover carburettor related issues. Generally speaking Honda makes a superior product, bu this newest model falls short on several levels. I appreciate you watching.

    I wish I had seen this video before, because I just bought it a few days ago. Love it so far but now I'm worried lol. I was looking for a Toro Super Recycler but they were out of stock here. Dealer told me they are not sending him many residential mowers. They seem to be pushing the battery ones at the factory. Thanks and hoping mine keeps on going😁

      Check out my review of this mower (in the top pinned comment above). I think the mower still has a few high points despite the value engineering that occurred with this newest model. I think the biggest problem you need to look out for is debris derailing the drive belt. Their design chose to omit the underside baffle to prevent this. If you do wind up with a broken belt, it' not too difficult to replace with some basic tools if you are handy. That video is here: th-cam.com/video/lsNDo2Ywnlk/w-d-xo.html I appreciate you watching.

    The second use of this mower it started surging and I had to clean the carburetor then it started idling way too high so I had to redo the governor thingy. The tachometer I bought is cheap and reads over 4k but it sounds good. When I drop it down to 3600 or lower it sounds crappy and runs rough so I did it by ear and I'm sure it's rpms are a bit higher than factory but it cuts waaaaaaaay better now.

    • @TheLawnmowerLady
      @TheLawnmowerLady  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My advice is to check the return springs for the governor arm and the throttle plate. Maybe something is sticking in one or the other. If sounds like it's running crazy fast, it probably is. 4K is a little on the high side for sure. Thanks for watching!

    Have you ever added an hour meter to a residential mower? I installed one on mine when it was new and it helps keep me on track for oil changes at the appropriate time along with other maintenance items that are spelled out in the owner’s manual. I highly recommend them.

    • @TheLawnmowerLady
      @TheLawnmowerLady  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I personally have not, but have urged several owners to do the same on their commercial pressure washers and such. It's a great idea, but I suspect you are in a very small group of owners who actually read and follow owner's manuals.

I prefer the older dipsticks on GCV160/190 along with the older briggs classic and quantums. Something that you can actually easily read when a machine is low on oil.

    Hi!! I just had the new HRX217HXA top of the line delivered and sent it directly back. Took 17 tries to start. This is one that my local dealer has fixed the Cam Release problem on. I think its the wax choke activator now. It has the auto choke which i dislike. I myself prefer a manual choke like on my 2008 top of the line residential GVC160 overhead cam. Still runs great but having a transmission issue and it costs almost $500 to do my self. I am fully able to but being 60 i figured i would buy one more honda as they are out of the lawnmower business. So, i do NOT want the new 200 engine w the bad cams even as my dealer is replacing, and i dislike the now autochoke so my option is the commercial HRC216HPA which still has the 160 engine w the manual choke!! Also shaft driven which is the best But it weighs almost 30 lbs more..... is there a Toro that you may think is made as good as the Honda commercial or the older honda residentials? Weigh will be an issue in the future as i am older. Tempted to just try to first change the transmission fluid and if that doesnt help replace the tranny. I am very mechanical...

    • @TheLawnmowerLady
      @TheLawnmowerLady  ปีที่แล้ว

      My personal opinion... Any commercial mower will have a longer life as a residential mower. A new Toro, as with most any mower made these days is not as durable good as a 10 y.o. Honda That said, would you consider a used, good condition HRX series (composite deck with the older engine?). That machine retains many of the commercial like features found only on the commercial lines.
      I'm intrigued with the $500 cost of your transmission? AFAIK, all Honda transmissions are rebuildable. If you are indeed handy, drain the fuel and oil, pull the spark plug, and flip the mower upside down Take a look at the transmission gear box. If the screws holding the cover are not too worn, pull off the cover and check the gears, and the gearbox oil level. What is the condition of the pinion and matching gears on the drive wheels? Do the drive wheels turn when you engage the drive belt on the transmission? I really appreciate you watching.

    • @deb5589
      @deb5589 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheLawnmowerLady Hello and thanks for responding. Yes they turn. Right now just groaning but still operabIe. am going to first check ,change, the fluid in the transmission. And checking gears. Yes i am a machinist, retired and very handy. If I do indeed need the tranny I found one for 307.00. I do see that draing the fluid and replacing quite often fixes. I have the groaning noise when moving. Mine is 2008 HRX217hma. Has always started on first pull so want to replace tires and bag and fix tranny instead of the new 200 engines. My local dealer is replacing the cams and or cam releases on each and every new hrx. They are bad and honda wont recall as now they will be out of the business and dont care. Lots of news on them on diff sites. I also do not want auto choke. My other option is the hrc216 as it has the overhead valve engine still........

While it was still warm I restarted it and the same thing happened. Oil level is fine less than 2 hours on the mower. Belt seemed very loose when I flipped it to check blade bolts?

    Hi Stella, I really enjoy the videos. The HRN line has been out since 2020, I really haven't seen much negative press on them so far. The mower in the video already looks pretty beat up for being so new and having it's first oil change. Is the customer using it commercially?
    I own one of these mowers, bought it new in July 2020. It's been an excellent mower, I've had zero issues. Although I agree there may be some compromises with this new design I think it's a significant improvement over the HRR line it replaced. Overall I would recommend this mower, I think it's still a better buy over the Craftsman's and Troy Builts ect.
    Just my 2 cents... :)

    • @TheLawnmowerLady
      @TheLawnmowerLady  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The mower was only 4 months old the first time I saw it, and the customer just is really hard on all his lawn and garden gear. I made a video on changing the belt as he was using the machine as a bushhog. I made a second video while waiting for the belt on some of my other observations of this new design. Although Honda took some short cuts with this new design, with proper care and use, this mower is OK. I appreciate you watching. Cheers!

    • @TheLawnmowerLady
      @TheLawnmowerLady  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SANCHEZFLA863 My first guess is a bent crankshaft. If the vibration is not too bad, you might be a few years out of it before the seals get worn out an it starts leaking oil. I think there is virtually no chance the blade adapter is bent, it's very robust. Keep an eye on the oil level dipstick to monitor those seals. This newer model has a much lower oil requirement than previous models. It will seize up sooner with no oil. Here's a simple way to test for a bent crank without any special tools: th-cam.com/video/4xqC5X8-3nc/w-d-xo.html Good luck.

    Without prompting, the local lawn mower shop said to stay away from these Honda Commercial Mowers with the GCV-170 Engine. The Self Propelled system is exposed to the elements underneath and any mowing on wet grass spells 'Doom' for these machines. The self propelled system just stops working. Second, the self propelled cable going into the machine just fails at the connection at the body. Both are insane, one is high labor cost and the other is high parts cost. Very sad to see a full-on Honda product fail. I do not know of any engine issues but the shop was just going on and on about "Don't buy this machine," that I could not get into the ask question mode.
