I know this loop like the back of my hand, super proud to say that so does my dog! If she ever gets lost she knows how to get back to our normal parking spot!
Dear Cris! Thank you so much for all of your wonderful hiking videos! I am very grateful! I just subscribed your channel and will share with friends and family! Has anyone ever told you that you look like Craig Daniel? Again, I appreciate you, Cris!
This is one of my favorite hikes in San Diego. I like some of the variations you added to the route I normally do and will try those soon. Thanks for a great guide!
Hey Jeff, nice to hear from you and yea, one of my faves too. I added on the peaks and other side of the lake, just a personal preference but adds a little spice to it. Hope the book is doing well!
Hi Cris! Great recommendation 👍. Wow! Anthony and I just finished this hike today. Followed your exact route... was stunning 😍. Thank you for the fantastic write up ...as always. Sending our support your way. Thx again Cris.
Cris. Thank you for everything you do! I always always tell people about your website/youtube channel every chance I get. I think that I'll do this trail next time for a change. For some reason, I'm always go to the greatest hits, like Cucamonga Peak, Timber Mt, Jacinto Peak, or Telegraph Peak.
Thank you so much!! And this one is great, especially now. The big mountains around LA are a mess now with landslides, snow, and raging rivers. It's a great time for the SD backcountry.
The trails are all marked but they’re all marked big laguna trail lol. I went there today and hiked a completely different trail yet every sign labeled every trail as “the big laguna trail”. However, definitely worth looking. Navigation on your phone works so you don’t have to worry about getting lost. I highly recommend visiting. If your scared of heights tho, you might be a little nervous driving up there as there’s a lot of parts where you’re driving along a huge cliff.
Ha dude, I can't win with Cuyamaca. If you watch older videos I pronounce it with "mack", but then someone from Sycuan Tribal emailed me and said the "mackuh" is "mecca" - I give up, from now on I just grunt and point.... anyway thanks for the pointer, I appreciate it... and yea, it's a great one, lots of good trails up in that area, worth doing a weekend and exploring if you can.
Just did this hike about a week ago, but we went in the opposite direction! Any justification to going counterclockwise instead? Thanks for a great guide.
Glad you got to enjoy it. I like recommending it counter-clockwise since it leaves the views until the end, and also it's much easier to spot the use-trail to Monument Peak in this direction, as opposed to coming the other way and looking for the smaller trail up to Hays Peak. Either way it's a nice one.

WOW..Never knew that east of San Diego was so nice!

Was waiting for this one thanks will likely try it this sunday
Should be pretty nice up there this weekend 👍
Wow so beautiful trail, we will follow that trail someday. We try to follow the one in local ❤️
AMAZING!
Great video!! Does it snow there in April?
There can be snow - usually okay by April though

Can't believe I haven't done this hike yet. Putting it on my list. Cuyamaca= Kwee-uh-mahk-uh. :)

@@Hikingguy ha ha... just saw this reply (is there a checkbox to get notifications?) I'd go with whatever the tribal members said for sure. :)
Amazing. would you recommend the views at monument peak or garnet peak?
They're both great / similar, but if you're just looking for a short hike from the road, Garnet Peak is nicer / no towers up top.
Ever hiked Whale Peak in Anza-Borego Desert SP?
I have, hoping to spend more time in Anza this winter

Have you ever considered thru-hiking the PCT?
If I was much younger and single, it would be an option, but with a family it's probably not in the cards. Maybe when I retire!
