Nice to see you suffer. I am hearing, feeling, suffering this piece for the 100th time, and I am still as touched and overwhelmed as you. This is a masterpiece.
If you read the description under the original video, Jacob wrote: "I booked a recording session with Jason and the choir at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville, and composed ‘World O World’ the day before I flew from London to the studio to meet them." The DAY BEFORE. What??
I don't know you, personally, Charlie, but your commentary and authentic, humble, passionate demeanor exemplify what I love most about humanity. It's just a reaction video, but it speaks of your appreciation for hard work and talent, for beauty and art. Your mention of a song that "saved" you is a raw moment that stands to save others. Bravo, Sir. Incidentally, that piece was a magical triumph.
This choir is the Aeolians of Oakwood University. They have always sounded like heaven look them up and give a listen. this collaboration only goes to show the ongoing beauty and talent of these impeccable people.
Hi Charly, I found and heard this magnificent piece the day it was on you tube. I was like struck by lightning. Completely overwhelmed........in tears... Jacob showed me not only heavenly music, he showed me a infinite musical universe. Really like other comments: not from this planet. Curious for the next brilliant piece!... Tom, Dutch guy living in France
Charlie - I think it's so cool you are humble and interested in the theory. Take it from a former music arranger, it's not an impossble task to grasp that stuff; you can do it. Yes, it is scratch-the-itch satisfying when you can see the "mathmatical" answers to what you're hearing. But the real magic happens in what you already bring a gifted, passionate listener and astute judge of true musicality, who communicates the human impact of of the greatness you deeply hear. BTW, You're the only music reaction person I subscribed to.
I finally found a Reactor that can express appreciation for the composer as well as the vocalists. I'm with you: I wish I could have been there. Silently in amazement. They hit certain chords that fill my soul to the point of tears. It's like an inner knowing - a connection to what is so innate, yet a place that I seem to only be able to reach through music. Music CHORDS in particular. I so love how you were able to call out the chords. I want to be able to do that effortlessly, without THINKING about it. You're my now favorite Reaction Channel. Thank you!
6:45 Your reactions to music are amazing! You truly understand the power of music and aren't afraid to show genuine emotions. It's cool to see how Jacob's music resonate with us in the same way...
I was so impressed with how sensitively you handled this. The humility with which you listened and your reaction afterwards was priceless. When you said that Jacob saved your life, I shed a tear. Music with words can do so much for the human spirit, to bring it back from the brink and give it life again. I appreciate your desire to learn more so that you can appreciate all that Jacob's music has to offer. May you be blessed x
That was a beautiful reaction. Your face said everything! As soon as I realised you’d never heard it before I knew this would be special. I hope Jacob delves more into choral music in the future.
If you are a fan of choral arrangements, you should check out Shall We Gather at The River by Voces8 and Ringmasters. Absolutely floored me at the end!
When I watched it first (and then again and again) I was caught between trying to follow the score, but also just wanting to feel it, just like you. Watching your feelings and appreciation was so beautiful and made me feel everything even more. It's almost like a live event where you share your excitement and emotions with others in the room. So much better than listening by oneself. Thank you! ❤
Absolutely amazing. The score was fabulous. I get into the harmonies and discord. Rocks my world. There is something about the way it all works out in the end. Chills. Thanks, Charlie.
The Jason Max Ferdinand Singers were actually in London last month at the BBC Proms 27 where they did this as the European Premier of this song at the RAH❤ JMFS are composed of many of the Aeolians 2018, so the sound is consistent. PLUS Cedric Dent an original arranger and vocalist from Take 6 is now a choir member
You should hear it live like I did at the world premiere at the Kennedy center with Max and the Aoelians. . Awesome. There's also an impressive version with a high school group at his concert in Miami.
I listened to this first on the album - and the contrast between the last minute of Box of Stars Pt2 and the start of this brought a tear to my eye. Just stunning - and I can’t wait to see him live again in London in December!!
I've been trying to think how you react to so many of my favorite things -- DCI, Sarah Vaughan, Jacob Collier, Voces 8, Adam Lambert, Mormon Tabernacle Choir -- what's the through line? EXCELLENCE. Peak human performance. And you get it!!
I'm glad that you've shared your journey through Djesse vol 4 with us. Not knowing what to say at the end is a perfectly reasonable reaction. Btw, this is the album version. There are live performances of this song, but the audio from this video is the same as the album. It's time to listen to the full album (on your own time).
There it is, lol. Looking forward to watching this edit: thanks for covering this, figured it would resonate with you. I know you've listened to a decent bit of his album works, but Jacob (featuring others, oftentimes) has some really amazing acoustic performances here on youtube, that I don't think you've ever covered, if you'd ever be interested in more live acoustic performances from him. Off the top of my head he's got some TinyDesk performances and a similar one at Paste Studio, and also a number of mahogany sessions (aside from little blue & summer rain, which you've seen)
I'm super geeked out on the score, but they make a heart burst open with their spirit of excellence! That Cb add9/Bb in measure 49 felt like someone lifted me from my chair by the back of my neck! Thank you for "AGAIN!" That 11 measure hold on a ritardando!!! BONKERS!!! I think that is the most simplest complex thing he's ever done. Hahahaha! I love his brilliance! And I love and am grateful for your connection to his brilliance! It brought light to your life! 💜
Thank you for sharing your contact with Jacob. Your emotional reactions are so engaging. Much preferred to clinical reactions which also have great value. Please do share your emotional reaction to the studio version.
If you loved the resolution in the ending there, I have a feeling you'll love the (whole arrangement, but especially the) ending of Voctave's Disney Love Medley, featuring Kirstin from Pentatonix. Double checked to see if you'd reacted to anything by them and you haven't so definitely give them a look!! It's a worthy rabbit hole.
Suggestion for something new -- I am a fan of early music -- music from the medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods -- and one of my favorite groups is L'Arpeggiata. The core group is mostly string players, but they bring in young, talented singers for projects. Check out their song "La Tarantella by Cristoforo Caresana", sung by six singers Céline Scheen - soprano, contre-ténor, mezzosoprano, male alto, tenor and bass. It's from 17th-century Naples and you can find lyrics and translation online.
Dear Charlie, don't forget to look at the song text that fits so perfectly with the music. I think this is the best work Jacob ever produced and the best choir to perform this. I also think (after watching his work for 14 hours) that Jacob's real talent lies in composing. Not so much in half covers, where he makes the audience scream along just for fun. The audience harmony is nice, with the occasional singer (M/F) on stage, but it's not very interesting.
Enjoy your choir reactions. You should listen to the Danish National Girls Choir. They have been on the go since the 1930s, so you know that they must be good. The seniors girls choir, DR PIGEKORET, have hundreds of great pieces, most from live performances. You should listen to their Come out and Play, River(Joni Mitchell), Magnum Mysterium by Lauridsen or Philip Faber, Blackbird or Lux Aurumque. Or you could try the DR Juniorkoret singing White water hymnal or The Rose. The childrens choir, are where the foundations are laid, so you could listen to the DR bornekoret sing Decembersang, or the medley Ride Ranke. I think that you would be surprised at the professionalism of these singers. Give them a listen as i dont think you would be disappointed. The childrens choir are 8-12 mostly, juniors 12-15, and seniors 16-22 years of age. I would really like to see a few reactions to them, as i requested a number, but unfortunately the choir are not too well known outside of Europe. Give them a try like i said, you will not be disappointed
First of all, will you marry me? Watching your face was simply a reflection of my own. And that in end of itself was the perfect commentary. No words were necessary.
Can you PLEASE react to Great Are You Lord-Darius James make sure it’s the live version it’s only about 5 minutes long if that! It’ll be an album cover of the artist with a bluish background. PLEASEEE & Thank You!
I appreciate the variety of wonderful music you share. I enjoy Music Travel Love. These twins post collabarations with singers from around the world. This is one of my favorites: "Stand By Me" th-cam.com/video/4ONfrkskNp4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=esk9xhc4rm_AijGw. Another favorite is "My Sleeping Child" performed in Denmark - So beautiful!
The choir singing is the “Aeolians” from an HBCU (Oakwood University) in Huntsville Alabama the director is Jason Max Ferdinand, he currently has a group of singers that are just as Phenomenal. ❤ look up Jason Max Ferdinand Singers and check out the song song Misty.
This is actually Jacob singing goodbye to the Earth as he leaves for his home planet
That's what I thought! I want to hear this song at my funeral
Exactly: what does he know we don't?
Exactly!! He is definitely NOT from here!
Oh? Did he tell you that?
Nice to see you suffer. I am hearing, feeling, suffering this piece for the 100th time, and I am still as touched and overwhelmed as you. This is a masterpiece.
I feel exactly like this too
If you read the description under the original video, Jacob wrote: "I booked a recording session with Jason and the choir at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville, and composed ‘World O World’ the day before I flew from London to the studio to meet them." The DAY BEFORE. What??
THE DAY BEFORE???!!! 😳😳😳😳

The harmonies are making my toes curl. 😊
I openly wept from the first measures. I can't imagine being in the room when this was created.
One of the most beautiful choral compositions I’ve ever heard, when it first came out I was obsessed
6:45 Your reactions to music are amazing! You truly understand the power of music and aren't afraid to show genuine emotions. It's cool to see how Jacob's music resonate with us in the same way...
Wow! thank you for allowing us to listen without interrupting Loved this.
The video uses the studio recording dubbed over the video recording. Best of both worlds!
OMG!! OMG! This choir and this song is stunning. Thank you Charlie.
wow that was insane. I cried right with you. those singers are UNBELIEVABLE!
Absolutely breathtakingly stunning. One of the most moving pieces of music I have ever heard.

Bro how is Charlie hitting literally everything I enjoy listening to?? DCI, Tabernacle choir, AND JACOB COLLIER???
I'm thinking the same thing. Three of my favorite things ever and he is just as moved as I am!
he tears up!
That was a beautiful reaction. Your face said everything! As soon as I realised you’d never heard it before I knew this would be special. I hope Jacob delves more into choral music in the future.
Oh wow! Those chord progressions, especially at the end. I’m telling my choir we have to learn this. Just, wow.
WOW! That's what you get from someone with a God-given talent AND LOTS of hard work and dedication! Wow! Wow! Wow! Thanks for sharing this, Charlie!
Magnificent! Thank you for introducing me to this glorious choir.
Wow 🤯! I love that the music was along the bottom so I could sight sing. Such amazing chords. Amazing group. 💛🌻
Incredible right! 😁
Music is my passion. There is so much I could say about this like how long did they hold those ending notes. But I will keep it short. I CRID.
If you are a fan of choral arrangements, you should check out Shall We Gather at The River by Voces8 and Ringmasters. Absolutely floored me at the end!
If you like this you’ve GOT to check out Eric Whitacre’s work!

Beautiful Charlie, super nice.
Thanks for this… It has enriched my enjoyment of this miraculous piece.
When you said, "again!" at 6.28. I reacted the same way for that section when I listened for the first time (and afterwards) lol
So useful and so complex. It's what makes his music so beautiful
Absolutely amazing. The score was fabulous. I get into the harmonies and discord. Rocks my world. There is something about the way it all works out in the end. Chills. Thanks, Charlie.

Beautiful!

Lovely.

Powerful
recommendation: Voces8 - some of the best harmonies you will ever hear.
My daughters had to scrape me from the ceiling after watching! I was struck!!!!
Haha I feel you completely
That was profound!!!!
Reminds me a lot of harmony arrangements Brian Wilson has done (both with Beach Boys and solo)
Charlie, would you react to 'A Rock Somewhere X The Seed' with Jacob and Aurora? It's so beautiful!!!
And how is it possible that You didn't listen to and react to his version✨ ALL NIGHT LONG. Please 🥹🙏
There are a lot of transcriptions of Collier tracks posted on TH-cam.
