    When people ask me what kind of music Jacob plays I say he's like nothing you've ever heard and everything you've ever heard

    Jacob, with his points of view, his opinions and all his music-performances, is just like an endless cosmic inspiration! surprising each moment, hopping above middle-aged conventions but allways respectfully, smiling and enjoying his "here-i-am-with- all-of-you-together!!

    When you are in the presence of genius you don’t necessarily like everything they do. But you just trust Jacob to do his thing because he is a genius.

    Great interview, thank you! Was lucky enough to be at the o2 arena on 9 December and loved every second. I'm one of the people screaming in the audience when chris Martin came out :) so many people have already said it but Jacob's music helps me so much and i love the joyfulness x

    Whatever Jacob does next I hope he doesn't stay away from the stage too long. I haven't been to one of his concerts yet and I'm no longer a spring chicken! Thanks for this.

    This is caller "Redefining MUSIC...not at all, the whole point is not to define music. , The whole point to "music" is that it is undefinable....there is no exact meaning (for much of it there aren't even any words), because meaning is a wholly subjective thing to begin with. Mr. Collier in his fearless individualism and deep commitment to inclusion defies all the unfortunate limitations of definition.

    Authenticity and trust are precisely what your _listeners_ are getting shaky about you, Jacob. Maybe not your _fans_, who are just ok with being mesmerized by musical athletics and motivational words

    • @Proghead88
      @Proghead88 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The ironic thing about your comment is how blindly narcissistic you are being by pretending you know why fans like his music, minimizing/ignoring the thousands of heartfelt and emotionally rich explanations all over youtube and social media of why fans connect to his music on all levels, and that fans are not the same thing as "listeners" according to you. If I were you, I'd take a hard look at myself before I criticize thousands of people who do connect WAY beyond anything technical. Just go see one of his shows, see how passionate he is in every single note, how authentic and empathetic he is in the moment at all times, and stop complaining about imaginary issues. I've noticed a real trend in criticisms against Jacob coming from emotionally limited people. Have you ever thought about the fact that maybe you are projecting your own inability to connect on an emotional level and see it superficially to begin with? I'm not assuming you are like that but it's a pattern based on hundreds of comments I've read over the years. Not everyone thinks like you dude.

      @@Proghead88 I'm pretty fine with not connecting with candies and comics when my personal taste enjoys dishes and poetry. I don't care if you sell them with passion. Don't get me wrong: candies are good but I'd rather buy them from a candy store than from a smiling chef.

    05:13 - 'If I'd sat down and thought, I'm going to make things that are really futuristic, I'm going to blow people's minds, I'm going to be unprecedented' - kind of summarises what I don't like about JC's music, along with the false modesty.

      It’s some of the best modern composed/written music that I never have a desire to actually listen to, because it lakes authenticity. Is it original? 100%. But originality for the sake of being original creates a void that is usually filled with meaning. Technically and theoretically great music, but it lacks authentic meaning.
