I can send you a recording to how to say this Hungarian things.
Magyar vagyok
You got Budapest right
Nice collection, congrats! But the pronunciation is between the bad and the totally different (word), very few exception. If you interested, maybe i can help somehow.
The "Busójárás" originates back to the turkish occupation and meant not to scare away the winter, but the turkish invaders.
As already others said, maybe you could consider at least listening to the words in googles translator. Not the best option, but if you really don't have any native speaker around to ask, it could do the trick.
Great respect from Poland. We will never forget your help in 1920 when you were the only nation who helped us to defend our country against soviet invasion. ✌
That's only because they lost a war as a "soviet republic". If they (somehow) won that war against Czechoslovakia and Romania... i doubt they would've sent any help... to you :))
@@alphadios2003 You have no idea of the history between the two nations, we were friends since the 14th century.
@@definetly_not_a_diddler There is no such thing as friendship between nations. This is just some propaganda to further some nationalistic goals. Trust me. If the Hungarian Soviet Republic had it's way and conquered Czechoslovakia and Romania, Poland would be next. At that time it was no longer about nation as much as it was about ideology, that is, the communist ideology. The hungarian communist would surely have sided with the russians against the poles.
@@alphadios2003 you know nothing about how much Hungarians consider poles our brothers. Please don't speak for us. Love to Poland from Hungary
@@alphadios2003 Hungarian Soviet Republic have never existed. Call it just Hungary like everybody else.
What matters is what happened, and as a result, many Poles and Hungarians consider each other friends. I consider Poles a friend like my father did. It means more trust, more opened mind and soul towards Poles. These feelings are based on our historical experience and similarities what are real. (The historical coincidences which led to this strong sympathy started in the Middle Ages.)

Great video!
However, the pronunciations... I was hopeful when I heard Budapest said correctly... but the rest? Széchenyi, Vajdahunyad, Tokaji Aszú?
I recommend putting the words in google translate, and hear how the hungarian robot says it. Then use that version in the videos. (I guess it would apply for most other languages too.)
As a swede living in Hungary i can just say that many words are very hard to say.

Idk how this guy only got some of them right, but credit where credit is due, he did try. And the video is very good otherwise.
Don't be too harsh on them. My wife can barely pronounce our words and she has a Hungarian to learn from. My favourite was when she said Pöcs instead of Pécs.

exept for the stew part bc gulash is soup not stew
@thisisnotdorottya Well, it IS in North America, unfortunately. It is on several menus, and they always make it a stew, and with NO caraway seeds. What a blasphemy, lol.

There is one correction I'd like to make as a Hungarian, goulash is not a stew, it's a soup! Even neighboring countries think it's a stew, but in reality it's not.
Also the real goulash is made of beef.;)
@@HungarianAstronaut yea
it's technically a stew, we just call it a soup. But it is actually stew by definition.
@@Kat-qf7ov yea no
The base of the soup is indeed a beef stew, however in order to make it a soup you have to add on sufficient amount of water. Therefore after that it’s no more a stew but a soup.😉
Potery…. Zsolnay and Herendy is kinda famous too( mostly porcelains) and “eozin” is a very interesting color (or mix of it idk it has some interesting looks)

Hungary holds the record not only for the most Olympic gold medal per capita, but also the most Nobel price per capita too.
One of them was given for something what nowdays most of people know very well from everydays life:
Vitamin C was found by Szentgyörgyi Albert.
+ a bunch of hungarian scientist took significant part in the Manhattan project.
+ Neumann János (John von Neumann) called as the Father of Digital Computer due to calculation based on the binary numeral system.
Herzl Tivadar (Theodor Herzl) was a hungarian jewish who was born in Pest (before Buda and Pest union).
He is called as "Father of modern political Zionism" or "Visionary of the State".
He is mentioned in the Israeli Declaration of Independence as "The spiritual father of the Jewish State".
Nobel Prize, not “price”.
90% of Hungarian Nobel Prize winners worked and still working abroad… a “beautiful” example Katalin Kariko’s career…
@@EmsurfShark He wants to say, that when these people were working or wanted to work on their prize winning inventions nobody gave a **** about them and nobody supported them, So they had to leave. Yet now that they are famous everybody is beating his/her chest of how many nobel prize winners WE gave the world...
Also a bit of nitpick: Szentgyörgyi didn't found vitamin C, he got the prize for studying it's effects.
And by the way we don't hold the record of Nobel prize winners per capita sadly we're not even close.

by a Hungarian? Name: Neumann János or John von Neumann in the west
The first computer was also built by him - and even todays computers still operate on the same principle

Actually, Hungary has been founded in 1000. 896 is the year of Home Conquest, and we weren't accepted as a country because hungarians weren't christian. In 1000, our first king has been coronated with the crown sent by the pope himself, and that's the date of Hungary's foundation. We celebrate the Day of State on the 20th of August each year.
The explanation in the video is correct: between 896 - 1000 the Hungarian state is known in history as the "Principality of Hungary" and from 1001 (the coronation of Stephen I and the official Christianization) it was called the : "Kingdom of Hungary"..... a state can exist in different forms or religions.

As a Hungarian I liked this video. It was really heavy on Budapest (understandably), thanks for showing 53 facts (besides gulyás being a soup not a stew), it is a good starting point for people. :)
As i hungarian, I loved the video, it was great. I liked how you mentioned the 8th. Since this event is quite close to me, I may not have been alive when it happened, but my birthday is connected to it. And I also liked that you didn't talk about Orbán, but rather about historical things. I didn't even know about many things that they exist in Hungary but not elsewhere (for example, kürtöskálács). Among similar videos in English, you were the first to pronounce Budapest correctly. Regardless of the fact that I'm Hungarian and I already knew about most things, I really enjoyed the video. I really respect you for it.
Great video! One great thing is also the Baroque Festival in Győr where one lucky couple gets married in baroque costumes. Even strangers can participate, dress in beautiful gowns. There are dancers, musicians, and a parade across the city

#4: I'm probably not the first who feels the need to point it out, but the real Hungarian goulash is a soup. It's weird because according to historical evidence, the original version was a stew, and foreign people are also know it as a stew. But despite this, I've yet to meet a Hungarian person who've ever made it as a stew. We have many good stews but goulash is not one of them. It's a soup.
THANKS , EXILENT PRESENTATION , AS A FOREIGNER .

However I think there are still many other outstanding things that haven't been listed.
E.g.:
- probably the highest number of Nobel price per capita also,
- even last year we had two (Karikó Katalin, Krausz Ferenc),
- not to mention the particular Hungarian thinking :),
- in our history we were overwhelmingly peaceful,
- we had mainly and many freedom fights (against Tatars, Turks, Austrian, Russian, Soviet),
- had no slavery,
- unlike Ukraine, we peacefully acknowledged the brutal and unprecedented Trianon treaty hundred years ago where we lost 70% percent of our territory (!) and 35 % of inhabitants.
Így igaz.

Actually, Chimney Cake is from Transylvania in Romania, but at the end of 10th century Hungarians conquered this area so that is why in Hungary its so famous. But the same Chimney cakes are everywhere in Slovakia (which I am from), Czech republic and even other countries in Europe, so it is not just a hungarian thing. Slovakia even have special Chimney cake from Skalica (small town) which is the only one in the world (with its recipe).
Chimney cake didn't exist yet when the Hungarians conquered. It's a much later invention. It's lovely how neighbours try to claim everything Hungarian for themselves. Invent your own things and leave ours alone...

1:39 The kid's cube is damaged. There is a black tile. 2:15 No, that's not how you ponounce it. The "j" is like the y in "you", and the "sz" is like the s in "see", you see.. 2:58 No. Once again, wrongly pronounced. "S" in see, "ey" from Neymar, the second "c" from consciousness, "ey" from Neymar again, "ny" from Canyonyon, and i from "mister". 3:20 The j is like the y in "you", and the ny is like the "ny" in canyon. 3:36 the gy is similar to the g in "greek, just a bit softer. If it's too soft, it becomes a "ty". 3:57 Yes, not gonna explain it again. 4:24 the ó is an o from "original" just longe. The c is an way softer version of the second c in "consciousness", with your tongue less pushed against the top of your mouth. 5:13 is pronounced right but "csikós" is pronounced differently. I'm tired of correcting, so I'll save this in watch later.
The 2nd c in consciousness is closer to a Hungarian cs. And the gy not really has any equvalents in english because even if you give a British example like as "du" from duke or duty it can be pronounced as "dzs" by some people. And "ty" is just the voiceless (zöngétlen) version of "gy".

as a hungarian i respect you for making this video, but atleast try to search up how to say hungarian words
As a Hungarian I am greatful for this wellmade video! But that pronunciation 😅 oh my Gosh! Sometimes I could baerly recognise what u mean but u selected great pictures to help me with that. ❤
in Vajdahunyad letter J is pronounced like y in yellow
Goulash (gulyás) is not, was not and will never be a hearty stew. It is a soup for crying out loud.
As long as noone relies on the pronunciation (it's like 10% correct), this video is quite cool ✌🏻
