    Welcome to the premiere of this video. Premiere means that we will be watching this recorded video at the same time as you, when it is released, Sunday 18th November 2018. We will be able to Live Chat on the video and reply to your comments. It's a bit like TH-cam live, but without the live video. After the video has played, you can still comment on it, as normal. Hope that helps!!

    Thanks so much for showing us around, it has been very beneficial in deciding which model we I’ll buy. We do like the Bolero a lot and ticks nearly all of our boxes. I would ask any person sat under the plates cupboard to get them out, unless they are a child and can’t reach of course. The carousel is intended for food according to a sales person.

    Well bob x jenny ist class vlog gotta say so professional in every way .
    I was so agreeing on the faults you noted having owned many swift models .....and why is a food table always kept in the blinking loo area ?😕
    You both forgot one major point though.......the suited sales person ,stinking of aftershave,white teeth from a toothpaste ad, who so welcomed you in to buy the model of your dreams .
    Only to meet again several years later to be told your dream which would hold its money due to its high spec ,is now worth peanuts when you wish to upgrade !!😭.Well done you two so enjoyed 👍💜

    Hi Bob and Jenny,thanks for interesting appraisal of your van.I bought 66 Reg swift escape664 with 750mls on the clock 2 years ago,I like the layout when I first viewed it but on using it first couple of times found the French bed rather claustrophobic,so fitted another roof vent above,next came extra leisure battery,2000 watt inverter reversing camera with 7in screen,bedroom tv and sat system,2 leg table.I tend to do mostly European trips so refillable gas system was next.At home until after Christmas so jobs on list are 4 camera system(front and rear vision) larger fresh water tank and pump, poss.rear air suspension.Reading this I think I might be obsessed!but I spend many months a year travelling in my van,but I'm not brave enough to add up the costs,like You and Jenny!thanks again for sharing your videos and happy journeys.Paul

    Really enjoyed the video. As you know, a lot of your dislikes have been improved on later models like our 2017 714SB. You could look out for a low-mileage/one owner model which would be much cheaper of course. If you drop to a 3500kg van we are sure you would miss the space, payload and overall spec whatever make/model it is. There are always compromises of course. You know every mile of your current 40K and good for another 40K the way you maintain yours -so why change at all yet? Unless of course you just fancy a change - a sentiment we do understand!! You don't need anyone else's advice, but having watched your NEC videos, we didn't see anything which we would trade ours for. If you do change, whoever 'inherits' yours will be well-happy!! Barry & Sue

    In a perfect world Bob it would be such a good idea for the designers of these vehicles
    to invite real consumers
    like yourselves to sit down and discuss what really works and what doesn’t , it would be a huge boost for
    both manufacturers and consumers helping each other ! 🤝

    Well done Bob & Jenny, an interesting summary.
    We have a van with the passenger door on the continental side, we have no experience of anything else and been risk aware with the dogs, traffic when in lay-bys since day one. There is a model I'm interested in that has a passenger door at each side and the passenger seats are proper captain seats, which are more comfortable than foam sofa seats.

    Hi there, just thinking about getting into the MH world and have only recently started watching your vlogs and now trawling through your back catalogue. With regard to repairing/sticking things back together, I have been using an amazing product around the home and on our ancient Landrover Discovery and wondered if you’ve heard of it? It’s called Sugru, using it it feels like play putty and you mould it for whatever purpose, leave it for 24 hours (I think) then it sets rock hard. There are different colours but I’ve mainly used white, my dishwasher baskets had the plastic coating split and the wire was rusting. I’ve moulded sugru around those areas and 6 months on, all perfect. Thanks for all the useful info, kind regards, Evelyn

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, enjoy the videos. Yes, Sugru is wonderful stuff, I've used it on my gopro to stick a microphone mount and in the Motorhome to hold wires in place.

    Great video Bob Jenny ,remember these are really commercial vehicles and should do 200k with regular servicing.i agree with you personally I wouldn’t buy a 4 year old MH with say 8k on it .
    Your faults are annoying and down to workmanship and pride in the job.but I think you can’t go far wrong now as all the faults are fixed .enjoying the Bailey review . Keep them coming

    Another great video (I have only just found your videos). Your snagging list reminds me of my problems with an ex-demonstrator Avondale Seascape SLX from 2005. A lot of the problems seem to be using fittings which are not really strong enough....made of plastic (for lightness and cost) when something stronger is needed. It reminds of cars made in the 70s, whereas even bonkers-cheap cars like the Dacia Sandero have that aspect sorted, these days. Even very expensive motorhomes still have this problem. They have so much expensive kit, from all kinds of sources, that don’t quite mesh.

    A great review Bob, it seems that you have been pretty fortunate with your motorhome and it's relative lack of issues, annoying though some of them must have been for you. 40,000 miles certainly isn't many miles for a Fiat Duccati engine and running gear. Most vans would do that in a year or less!!! I would expect you would be able to do 3 times that amount of miels without any serious mechanical issues, so I wouldn't worry about needing to change because of the distance covered. I can empathise with your comments about liking new things :-) I think that is a bloke thing!!!
    Anyway thanks for an honest review.
    Regards,
    Jonathan.

    we went away last summer and our habitation door wouldn't lock from either inside or outside. We had to use string on that holiday to keep the door closed. it turned out we needed a whole new lock then it was fine. Also our rear camera display failed. Started going to blue then one day it just died completely.

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo

      The screen died on ours, but that was due to a fault in the sargent power supply.

    Interesting vlog. I wonder if double sided foam tape would stick that plastic cap under the sofa? I bought some at The Works, and it's got a strong grip (no second chances to reposition!), and the foam might mould to the bits that stopped the Gorilla glue from working.

    Hi BOB and Jenny, great vlog, I am currently sitting in the yard at your favourite dealers near Durham. In the morning I hope we will be able to confirm the trade in price agreed at the NEC. I’ve ordered the. Elddis Majestic 285 which has a similar layout to your van but comes in under 3.5 tonnes. It’s not as high spec as the Bolero but is a lot less pricey. You mentioned in your last vlog that your van was treated with Diamondbrite, have you found it to be a worthwhile investment.

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm honestly not sure. I think it may have prevented the front of the roof becoming dulled and possibly reduced some of the black streaking.

    I'd like to ask about the digital illuminated clock over the head end of Bob's bed. Is that a factory fitted clock or was it fitted by yourselves. Also, does it dim at night, I ask this because it looks a good clock but a bit bright for nightime when asleep.

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks, we bought it at a show 4 years ago, if you search for Dementia Clocks you should see it. Ours dims at night. Jenny found it too bright looking at it at night. It's above my head, so not too bad. I like to know what time and day it is.

    What a brilliant video. #VanEnvy I feel quite bad that my list of dislikes on my van is long, I look forward to changing it as soon as possible. Until that happens, work arounds and tolerant attitude 😂😂 my next van needs: room to hang wet coats, a sofa that’s comfortable, supportive and my feet touch the ground, running hot water and washroom, NO pop up tent style roof, they are tedious to deal with when wet, let all the road/people noise in and are cold. More kitchen worktop, I manage on an area 11”x9” yes you did read inches there.
    A fridge just like yours❤️ oh, and not needing to climb on the back seat to access a minute wardrobe that isn’t wide enough to fit a hanger in. There is more but, I’ll leave it there😂😂😂😂

    Hi, new subscriber. I've not seen all of your videos yet but I'm slowly getting through them. I enjoyed this video and wondered if you would answer a few questions for me? Did you buy your motor home from new? How much road tax does it cost per year? Also is that based on size and weight or age? Can I ask what motor homes you have owned up until now and which was your favourite? Thanks for doing your channel, it is both helpful and very interesting. Regards Luke.

      Our current motorhome is classified as a Private Heavy Goods Vehicle (4250kg 7.71metres) and costs £165 a year. Changes to recent regulations will mean the UK government will classify Motorhomes the same as cars for tax purposes, the VED for a new motorhome will increase from £265 (PLG rate) to £2,135 - a 705% increase - plus there will be significantly higher ongoing yearly tax costs of £465 a year.
