😱OMG!😱 This actually worked on our 2006 Chevy Silverado every time my husband cranked up the truck the ABS Light and the Brake light would come on. He would kill the truck and disconnect the battery for 5-10 mins and it would help for a few minutes but then it would come back on as soon as he started to drive. We just came across this trick of yours and it worked. Thank you so much you not only helped us but you saved us $2K. Thank You so much!

Hi, I am working on a 2011 Buick Enclave. I bought it on IAA Auction in March, had it delivered from the auction site in Fayetteville, Ark. So, expectedly it had a few twiddly issues. Pumped in some freon, works like a champ all summer so far. And a mystery light on the dash, ABS and the traction control skidding car. Brakes worked so I ignored it all summer. An interesting oddity not mentioned in any videos. After I have been parked for a while, on taking off again it will often turn off the ABS/Traction lights. If I just idle around they stay off once I hit 19 or 20 mph they come back on. I did the check engine light thing, but it was very hot that day. 108 so I did not last long with the driveway check.
This indicated a long list of snigglets. amongst them rear left issue with sensor. So, it was not clear if it was sensor or the magnetic ring on the bearing hub. Now that it is cooling off a bit, I will be working on that issue a little closer.
The three presses on the accelerator did not turn off the ABS light, it did its usual of as I was taking off from the drive the doors locked, ABS/Traction lights went off, and at 20mph came back on again.
Now the noticeable change in the system after the three peddle reset. While ABS light was off, the brake peddle did not sink to near the floor and make a vibration to the foot with a noise like stepping on a pigglet. The brake peddle was engaging the calipers near the top as it should after a proper bleeding. After the lights resumed their annoyance mode, the brake peddle was still engaging near the top as it should with no sinking or sponginess, I finished the 4 mile test drive with a big smile. But still need to get to the cause of the ABS. I can probably unbolt the sensor and see if it is coated with steel and brake pad dust, clean it off or more likely just plug in a new one their like 20 bucks and the original is 2011 and due to make buick some more money. The Hub, I am afraid I will have to go to a shop and have it looked at.
So, all that said. Yes, the three peddle reset did improve the situation. Thanks for the tip. Now the TPMS sensors battery is getting weak on the front left. I about had a doodoo in my pocket the other day on the busy highway when that warning light came on. Overnight, it settles down again, but after a few minutes of operation with report a low tire, or disapear. Next step after this comment is order a package of the valve stems with a blue tooth battery powered sensor to install in the tires. One goes lame, they all four are probably close to the time to earn Buick some more money. I found a package of four from someone selling through walmart for like 40 bucks shipped. A tire shop near just asked for a donation to break down the tire and install the sensor. Very nice hard working barely english speaking entrepreneurs.
Again thanks for the tip, I will keep an eye, er foot on the peddle for a few days and see how this new action works out.

Thanks for watching and sharing your experience, we really appreciate it. Any update on your findings and status?
We would also recommend ensuring that all of your tires are properly inflated to the safe and required psi.
Low pressure inside a tire can trip ABS light in the manner it is in your situation.
Dirty or faulty sensor as you mentioned is also likely. Looking forward to hearing back from you.
In addition, if larger than original tires were recently installed, this can also trigger your ABS light to illuminate as the magnetic ring and sensor are having a difficult time sending proper signals to the computer.

Had new tires installed and 3 days later brake fluid leak from passenger rear line. Brake light came on. Stop in auto shop to have brake fluid added..brake light went off, but then 2 days later a huge amount of fluid dripped out. Then Abs light, brake light, eps light and traction light came on. Got it to a shop fast.
Mechanic scan said internal ABS module problem. They ordered part but was delayed for another week. Saw your video, did a reset didn't work. Did it a second time didn't work. Third time did a reset and drove for 40 minutes. Turned car off for Dr appt came out 30 minutes started car NO LIGHTS ON!!!! DROVE HOME PARKED CAR. RESTARTED WENT AROUND THE BLOCK LIGHTS STILL OFF!!!
I HOPE THIS CONTINUES! HOPEFULLY SAVED MYSELF A THOUSAND
DOLLARS!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED.

Wild event you & your vehicle have been through the last few days...😲
We are so happy to hear things have realigned themselves. That sounds stressful & it makes it even more stressful when it happens after having your vehicle serviced by professional companies.
We are always here to help answer questions along the way, us DIY’ers need to stick together!
Keep us posted over the next few weeks on how your vehicle performs. Side note... we always recommend double checking your tire pressure after having your tires, brakes, or rims serviced. The reason behind this is because too often, vehicle owners are getting a new set of tires and then a few days later having their ABS light illuminate...only to find out that the shop didn’t bring up the tire pressure to the proper psi which leads to the onboard computer detecting the fault of low pressure...leading to ABS light illuminating.
Hopefully many stress free days ahead for you Laurie.

Yes it works temporarily for me; The ABS lights went out about two weeks, but after that time, the problem returned... ☹️

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thanks for sharing, in that case…you have a part internally acting sporadically…meaning working sometimes and not working other times.
This is also an indication that the exact part is in its early stages of failure, and will fail completely in coming weeks or months.
Resetting system helps trip part to work as designed again but it sounds like it can only work for a short period of time.
Having your ABS system read by an OBD 2 scanner may help pinpoint the exact part causing the problem.

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders radiator update... It was a very simple job! 4 bolts on the skid plate, remove lower radiator hose and transmission lines (for automatics). Remove upper hose then fan shroud. Remove grill, which is only clipped in. Out of the 8 I think I have 2 left but zip ties help hold that. Most were broke before this. 2 bolt for AC condenser and 1 for the top radiator mount and it basically slides on up. I admit I got the cheapest one I could find at $65 shipped! My only issue was the left and right end caps that I had to transfer from the old radiator to the new one. Each one is held in at the top with a torque style screw. I broke 2 bits and it didn't even break loose. Out came the grinder and I found new bolts that fit the nuts in the new part. It's a common size so I had them from a past project. Everything is back in and I realize my transmission lines don't screw into the new radiator's trans cooler. After a few minutes of "great... Now what!?" I realized that the new radiator came with the part I needed. That screw end of the transmission lines are held on by little metal clips that are easily removed with something pointed. Almost like a quick disconnect. Popped the new ones on, made sure it was all good to go and the whole job would have taken less than an hour but since I was in no real rush it took about 2 hours. No special tools needed. I think a 10mm & 13mm socket, a ¾inch wrench, Channel Locks and a flat screw driver is all I used.

After five minutes, reconnect cable to battery and start engine. This will allow your system to reset.

@@josecastaing598 Hi, so sorry on a quicker response. Never got a notification. The answer is, "No, it did not work". All kinds of repairs done and light never goes out. On occasion it does flicker. Watched other video's, as well. One suggested checking the sensor ring if dirty clean it, if damaged worn replace it then drive a bit to see if it goes out. Next follow the line to where it hooks up on the tire wheel well wall and undo the clip, check for corrosion, dirt, moisture-water. If any try to clean what you can. If moisture-water let dry fully re-hook and test drive. Hook back up and drive a bit. He said heavy rains or going thru puddles can cause that one to kick up. If still on check all ABS fuses and relays there can be more than one on some vehicles. Pull ONE at a time and inspect. OR if you have a new and good fuse-relay plug it in and if the light goes out after driving a bit you found it. Do all fuses-relays. If all's good plug back in. The video showed some vehicles have three fuses. One regular flat and two boxier type. Use the panel graph to locate the correct fuse(s). He said last but not least was the computer part that is the main reader for the ABS can't remember the name, but is known by parts stores and mechanic's. The problem with that part is it is very, very expensive! Thousand or more depends on the vehicle. Was told could get it cleared by a mechanic for $75-$100. They run it thru a cycle of sorts. Not cheap either and ridiculous that no matter what is done by buying parts and fixing what you think it could be and none of the work shuts it. Most annoying at this point. Have you had any luck at all? If I find anything else I'll pass it on and maybe you could do the same. Best of luck!

2005 Honda Civic: My ABS light stays on. I had the OBD indicate the right ABS sensor wire was broken so I bought a new ABS sensor & had the mechanic put it in. After the mechanic put the new ABS sensor in, he told me it was the sensor for the left side, but they “made it work”. However, the light still comes on.
I just want to make sure the car is good for a 600 mile road trip (& would prefer to have that ABS light off & the ABS sensor working properly.
    Thank you

Some will say it’s ok, others may say get it fixed…that will be personal preference in the end. We have talked to more people that say it’s ok. Haven’t tried it ourselves.
