- France was responsible for A LOT of unconventional tank designs created in the first half of the XXth century. Tanks with oscillating turrets, 70 ton medium tanks, heavies with very thin armour… In short, the French made many bold choices, and some of those blew up in their faces in one way or another- not because the ideas behind those designs were flawed, no - they were often quite brilliant, in fact - but because French engineers couldn’t always solve all the problems that arose during development. And the saddest tale among them all was the tale of the French heavy tanks.

There is one Heavy French tank you haven't mentioned. The one that started the whole family. The heaviest of them all, and one of the biggest tank ever created : The FCM 2C. That's one beast I would love to see in the game someday.
Ahh the char 2C. King of tanks via proportions being the tallest and longest tank ever.
You will be a target practice for everyone if you use that Goliath
or the FCM F1 but arguably it's more like an super-heavy
2c is ww1 design, a bit outside the scope of the game, unless we have other great war tanks like FT and A7V coming to the game.
It had next to no armor and would be a massive target, it wouldn’t be fun to play

No, he's right, first version of Panzer 4 couldn't penetrate B1's Armor and they often needed air support or stationary 88mm to destroy them.

Battle of Stonne with a B1bis commanded by Billote, against a German panzer column and anti-tank guns on the outskirts of the city.
Later the Germans took over the city (which often changed hands) and a second B1 entered the city at night (or the next day, don't remember exactly). He stuck his track lengthwise in a trench full of German, and he made German lasagna.
He win the name of "Butcher of Stonne".
Grinding low tier France with a friend, just spaded the first ARL and that was a fun tank

The AMX-50 Surblindé is actually my favorite tank, I just wish there was a way to get it without emptying my wallet since Gaijin wasted it on the worst event they ever made...
Honestly the early-war designs are the most interesting. I have a special love for the B1-ter. I don't think any tank in the game looks anywhere near what the B1 does.
The AMX-13 F11 is also a very fun scout tank.
If you want to see the B1 Ter for real you can find it in the natural trash museum called "Atlantic Ocean".

That's a little complicated given that they never completed the turret of the design. Paper tanks are somewhat complicated to implement in War Thunder as there is info that the developers want that is not readily available without test results. I don't see the tank coming in the foreseeable future or at all into war thunder sadly.

@@hanhphuc166 For most it's fabricated from what round they are rated at. Aka what round(s) the armour is supposed to be able to defeat. So they are all inaccurate, Chally 2 are missing mantlet protection, Leo turret cheeks should behave differently according to round length and other such things.
The problem with the Kranvagn isn't only that the turret armour would be fabricated, it's that EVERYTHING pertaining to the systems in the turret will have to be fabricated. Crew positions, rotation and elevation speeds and angles, reload rate and gun performance to an extent. Gaijin have stated in the past that the main factor behind deciding to implement a vehicle or not is how readily available data of its characteristics is. For the Kranvagn there's important data that can't be acquired and data that is closer to the specifications that the swedish government wanted for the vehicle rather than what the finished prototype would have been capable of.
For krav, they can do the same as in wot and wotb

I honestly wish they bring back the Lorraine 155 available to research in the tech tree. I find this tank so good and so awesome. French doesn't have a lot of howitzers (M4A3 105). I wanted to use it as an artillery support tank, with the help of a scout. Could be fun.

Hey gaijin, how about a "last heavies" triathlon with the Maus or e-100, M103, is4m, Amx 50 Surbiasse, and Conqueror? That would be really cool.
Surblindé would be better. But Maus would get clapped hard.

The Somua is easily the best purchase I have ever made on this game (Sadly I have made alot) I promise you wont regret it, the thing cant take a hit and the auto loader reloads 2x faster than anything it faces. Just remember, you only have about 9 shots before you must wait a good 2 mins for a clip reload. but shots do reload while you idle.
I want a reprint of the AMX-50 Surblinde.

I always secretly wish there were more earlywar or interwar french tanks that I don't know about which could be added. I find that time period very interesting.

@Daniel Walder raclette is a molten cheese and potato based dish that comes from Savoy, and it tends to be so good that people gain lots of weight after eating one
I like the ARL 44. That big front plate probably gives it a pretty fair chance in head to head engagements, especially at longer distances.
Which one? Because they both have weak turret armor and can be penetrated easily

I'd go for the 90mm. And I didn't know that. Maybe if you go in and out of cover, only exposing your front plate most of the time and just focus on keeping the turret safe, you might stand a good chance.

My favorite is definitely the FCM F1, a twin-turret beast which was a development from the great war era Char 2C. It obviously didnt advance past a wooden mockup due to the outbreak of the war. This vehicle would be an interesting addition to war thunder.
Ahhh the french tech tree, the reason why I stopped getting serious and decided to just play collector by unlocking as much as many Br2 aircraft as possible.
I still shiver remembering how my H75 got shredded by a P36C.

I play France a lot, and I'm kinda having trouble to get any profit SL. While I do get lots of money in rounds where I win, I also lose a lot in rounds where we lose and I play bad in them. Never had that problem with Germany except at tier 6.7

This is not related to the video’s subject but I need to say this, the F84 F-2 sabre is at an unfair battle rating and needs a buff to at least 8.7 because playing supersonic jets with missiles and yak 38s or any aircraft that goes up to 10.7
I find it pretty hard to play in a french tank. The main reason i stopped playing it was beacause the first time i got my arl44(played in battle) i was faced against a tiger 2 head on

The oscillating turret had to be the only stand out feature unique to France. Personally, it saw a new way to create elevation and depression angles

If I'm correct, the B1 ter did exist, it was just sunk as it made its way to broitain from a collapsing France
Remove repair cost, or SL all together. No point in having secondary RP.
I do think that repair costs have gotten pretty ridiculous in the past 3 years however sl and bonus rp are rooted in the games mechanics. How we fix this is by either A: lower repair costs on vehicles that need them or B: give higher reward rates to vehicles that need them
@@operation1523 Yeah, some kind of change is needed. Its really easy to go into debt in War Thunder, and Gaijin's shitty map design and bad BR balancing isn't helping.

one thing i got a problem with this video, is that he said the char b1 can take on several panthers, thats completely false, maybe the early year panzer 3 and 4s but not the long barrel 75s on the later war panzer 4s and panthers.
This is cool and all but when will you make an update that everyone appreciates.

Why is the AMX 50 usin the wrong turret? (I know 2 versions were shown off but the one the french army adopted was the rework of the AMX M4 turret). Also how come the Schnider 90mm SA-45 and SA-47 (found on the ARL-44 and AMX M4) are not as powerful as their real life version both of which out performed the german 8,8 cm Kwk 43 (found on the Tiger II) in fire power (Also in IRL both the ARL-44 and the AMX M4 used APCBC rounds instead of APC).

He probably meant panzer, referring to the Battle of Stonne where one B1 tank destroyed a whole column of panzer and other things outside the city like anti-tank guns.
