Yeah. That's mostly it. Although I think that people are taking the SL cost excuse a bit too seriously while complaining these tanks are OP when in the hands of the enemy. They are indeed very good but these are not tanks for passive players and they are not that easy to play. But sure, I am certainly NOT losing SL by playing them (70-90% win rate with all of them)... I could still kill 3 people and get 17,000 in a winning match. That's how many kills you need to break even on a STOCK AMX50. It's not for good players. It's just broken.

That's an exaggeration. Lorraine 40t only costs 24k. so how do you get 80k into your lineup. It will most likely cost 50k for one game unless you are stupid enough to spawn 8 different vehicles in one match.
The French are always interesting to fight against since they play Flank and Spank oddly enough. I remember getting flanked by three AMX-13s in the Vietnam map. Kinda funny since they occupied Vietnam.
You can try all you like but no one really plays France because of the repair costs. This hasn't been changed with the new economy either. Nice try but most people will pass STILL! Plus the reason some tanks for doing so well is because only the die hard fans play them, meaning pretty average players like me suffer. Great job!

yeah and it's not even for a light tank that makes sense the m2 bradley and warrior are much better for their br's and even the object 906 when it was 7.0 (with it's stabilizer heat and 5 second reload) didn't have a crazy repair cost like that

Bringing out 4 tanks in rb at 7-8.0 costs literally 100k sl and none save the foch can adequately survive a shot being they at most have a strong point less than 80mm of armour. Good guns good reload very bad armour okay maneuverability no stabalizer isolating turets take over 4 seconds to settle after driving at medium speed. The way the damage model is your breach gets hit with almost every shot that pens. Edit also they only have solid shot aside from the heat shells you get in the 13 90 or over 8.3br

Amd its not like top tier where you can just pen tge enemies everywhere you want you still have trouble with heavies especially at range. Its a really fun nation but the cost make you not want to play you have to get on average 4 kills per death repeatedly to pay for your tank and then you maybe make a profit. And ive yet to see a tank where most people in the comunity pick up and get an ace without getting shot every single game.
BTW I do have top tier French vehicles but I played when French were released and had amx 13 S11. So it was not that bad during that time. But holy hell I would not want to play them now. Gaijin needs to do some quality control. It is stupid to just give programmers stuff to do without care of whats happening in the game.

There are a couple of things that annoys me in this video. 1:45 : the S35 would "hold its ground" even better if it had its actual frontal armor, which was 47mm and not the 37mm in game, an error that has been pointed out for more than a year now, and that's still not resolved even after people on the forum went in the Saumur museum AND MESURED IT HIMSELF WITH SPECIALISED EQUIPMENT, posting pics and all that about it. 4:00 : Not even a little remark about how insanely expensive to repair and how risky these rank IV tanks are to play? 8:50 : If it's a "light tank" gameplay-wise, why not actually put it as such, since it is its exact role in reality? when 80% of comments in Gaijin devblogs and official YT channel are about how many things in the game are wrong/lacking FOR YEARS and they don't fix it, or even talk about that. In game it's called a TD, which still should have it anyways, spotting at long distance AND being able to take targets out would make sense for a type of tank that does so in combat :P

I too with all my soul desire the Leclerc, but it is more complicated than any other MBT because it is so classified. We don't know for sure the armour values, we don't know for sure the gun's strength (we know the muzzle velocity), and the problem with such a tank in war thunder is that it would need to have all its electrical systems in the game in order to be good at all; which will most likely not happen due to how complex and game unbalancing they would be

@@hyrikul602 i want as much as you do a strong and complete tech tree, correctly representative of french machinery. The thing with abrahms is that contrarily to the leclerc, it has seen combat in a lot of sectors, so it is much easier to determine its competence in battle. Furthermore, as i said, the leclerc relies heavily on its electrical equipment, which will be near impossible to implement in the game. I would want the Leclerc just as much but it would just break the game in every aspect possible. I have to agree that modern MBTs from other nations being added is quite stupid and allows for absolutely BS gameplay which is very far from reality.
4.7 BR is the last playable point of the French tech tree. 6.7-7.0 simply can't take any hits. No matter what people say about the AMX M4. The auto loader seeming always gets hit, even by shots that don't pen. Also, whats with many french tanks having fire extinguishers modeled into them that you can't use without unlocking them? AMX-DCA 40 has 2 Fire extinguishers sitting in the turret, many top tier tanks you even show have fire extinguishers SITTING on the frontal plates. If you are going to play France, get your 4.7 line up (AMX13, ARL-44 and AMX DCA-40) and don't bother buying the future tanks. 4.7 can easily net 20k+ sl a match in Arcade, but the post 4.7 lineup often faces tanks even the ARL-40's cannon can't pen, while easily being one shot by a single piece of shrapnel hitting the ammo. AS for french air? I wouldn't recommend it for Arcade. The 20 mm's almost all of them have is great, but there is no full lineup of 5+ planes at any BR. French air is simply too empty to play. You can club in air arcade with 3.0/3.3 fighters, but just about anything can out run and out climb your short plane. I once was out ran by an I-153. It's seemingly impossible to pass tier 2 french air and I believe gaijen fears the power of stale baguettes and nerfed France accordingly. The only non-french plane in their lineup is the A-25. Not the A-26 the US has, the US doesn't even have the A-25 in their tree, it's just that bad of a ground attacker. Outside of an F2.222.22 squadron, don't expect too do much in the french bombers either. Their early heavy bombers are great at destroying bases but have such poor climb rate that they can't reach their safe altitude at 2.0 (of about 5km) before the round ends on most maps.
A great way of allowing us to climb the french tech tree would be reducing the repair costs. My AMX-30B 1972 costs 18k SL to repair in sim, and I dont even mount all the mods, because then the repairs would skyrocket to 21k SL

You should retry it since it has been fixed (it was bugged like all the few other long-rod APFSDS). It is actually by far the best APFSDS at BR 8.0-8.3.

In game, it's missing a good half centimetre because Gaijin doesn't know how to use a micrometer. 3:17 The AMX-13 FL11 is "the first to have an oscillating turret which doesn't give it a particular advantage". Well, it has however the negative effect of making the gun so bouncy that you can only use it in ambush position... thanks to Gaijin abominable modelling. 5:01 "A good suspension will keep your aim more or less steady"... He managed to say this without laughing: it certainly was true of the real thing. See point above, of course, for in game performance. The Rank IV discussion conveniently ignores all repair costs issue which make it unplayable by the common of mortals... 7:20 same bullshit claims of steady aim about the Surbaissé than with the Bat Chat 25t. 9:00 Thanks Gaijin for making an unusable TD out of what should be an excellent recon light wheeled tank. Also it's nearly impossible to spade because of the research cost of the modules which are the highest in the game at this BR.
@anOKlamp while that's true, I'm paradoxically less annoyed at it. Gaijin has always been consistent in claiming that they do balance vehicles also by using or removing historical ammunition. So I don't mind too much (although they could have given it it's APFSDS and then switched it with the HOT for better historicity and balance). However, poor modelling of known existing data (like the Somua) is just shoddy work.
Episode # 140 of Shooting Range, minute 16:06 and you'll get an answer, why am I writing this. 1. Can you insert a high-caliber shell (e.g. IS-2) to a Tiger 1 driver's optics, that it doesn't activate an igniter of explosives? 2. Can you dodge a shell (I mean you stay in an open field and after an enemy's shot you get out from a way of a shell) from lees than 600 meters? If it's possible, try with smaller distances. 3. How many plane parts can be damaged, such as wing ends or engine, before a plane is recognized as destroyed? 4. Can you make a tower from tanks, where tanks can shoot accurately and guy on top doesn't have to press forward, when guy at the bottom moves? 5. Find a slowest plane in a game. Can it fly with a speed of a maximum speed of slowest jet? Try to use WEP, fall from extreme altitudes and this everything on Arcade because of safety rules from not falling apart. Btw I'm this guy, who wrote a comment about Mythbusters, just changed the name, so you don't have to twist your tongue now.
@@zockertwins and that's the reason why many players are asking for more top tier vehicles and there's more than enough even playing Top-Tier, at some days more so than mid-Br. And yes, if you just now create a fresh acc. you'll most likely never reach Top-Tier without money, but it is still very easily duable for players who have this game for a while.
Of course it's not impossible, but it takes a very long time, especially when you don't concentrate on a single tree from a single nation and don't have time to play 10 hours a day.
@@zockertwins Yea, without a premium vehicle and or a premium acc you´ll most likely get stuck around Tier IV and since there isn´t any real progress you get done on Tier V (although I have to admit, now with multiple RP and SL changes even Rank V is achivable. I still remember grinding my Tiger II 10,5 for the whole 380.000 RP, now it´s down to 160.000) you´ll end up jumping inbetween nations till you either spent money, have no life or quit the game. But many people have started playing around Ground Forces Beta and a year after, meaning they had more than enought time reaching the "Top-Tier" back then and with every update there were litereally 1-2 vehicles each or even none beeing added at the top ranks making it easy to keep up with
It's on my mind for some time, that having a Panther in the French tech tree would be good and quite accurate historically speaking. I mean, the tree could have a vehicle with an SL cost not extravagant for once, and France did use Panthers immediately after WWII. That's just my opinion but I would enjoy playing one with the Arl44 and amx-13. That would make it a 6.0 lineup and there is no proper 5,7 lineup for now.

I went staright to amx-30 beacouse I wanted to get out of the 8k repair hell and they raised the repair cost (stock) from 4k to 6k

There are a couple of things that annoys me in this video.
1:45 : the S35 would "hold its ground" even better if it had its actual frontal armor, which was 47mm and not the 37mm in game, an error that has been pointed out for more than a year now, and that's still not resolved even after people on the forum went in the Saumur museum AND MESURED IT HIMSELF WITH SPECIALISED EQUIPMENT, posting pics and all that about it.
4:00 : Not even a little remark about how insanely expensive to repair and how risky these rank IV tanks are to play?
8:50 : If it's a "light tank" gameplay-wise, why not actually put it as such, since it is its exact role in reality? Why make it a TD, which make absolutely no sense gameplay and history wise?

@@jocelyncosson6988 Bruh the KV-2 also jammed it's turret when fired with the turret orientated in a certain way, you couldn't turn it when driving up a slope and we also currently have rare export tanks like the TAM in the game. We also have lot's of prototypes in the game that never entered service. The AMX 13 105 did! It would just be an awesome addition to french high tier.

Good news folks repair cost have now been balanced by rank. So no more high french repair cost and low soviet repair cost.
People would climb the french tree IF repair costs for Tier IV onwards didn't require you tobe Bill Gates to pay for the GE to get enough SL to buy a company with all those repair bills...
Also Naval battles NEED a rework on BOTH repair and BRs plus a long due MM rework.....
Why doesn't the AMC-10RC have spotting ability? It's a reconnaissance vehicle IRL for crying out loud.
In game it's called a TD, which still should have it anyways, spotting at long distance AND being able to take targets out would make sense for a type of tank that does so in combat :P

I too with all my soul desire the Leclerc, but it is more complicated than any other MBT because it is so classified. We don't know for sure the armour values, we don't know for sure the gun's strength (we know the muzzle velocity), and the problem with such a tank in war thunder is that it would need to have all its electrical systems in the game in order to be good at all; which will most likely not happen due to how complex and game unbalancing they would be

Why when a US / GER / USSR player wants a new toy (sometimes OP (Tunguska, FJ-4B VMF -232), there's no problem no matter what they wants. On the other hand the players FR want their leclerc: "Too much OP / not enough details technical / no"
I seem to have read somewhere that the technical details of the last abrams(or an other tank from the 3 holy trinity) on his armor are not 100% known and.. guess who is in the game.
Actually, you can smile when you see a french tank (except 40T IF its a good player honhonhon (not my case)).
We also want our moment of glory, to feel that we weigh in the game, like the other nations, without loose one arms for each game with stupid repair cost.
@@hyrikul602 i want as much as you do a strong and complete tech tree, correctly representative of french machinery. The thing with abrahms is that contrarily to the leclerc, it has seen combat in a lot of sectors, so it is much easier to determine its competence in battle. Furthermore, as i said, the leclerc relies heavily on its electrical equipment, which will be near impossible to implement in the game. I would want the Leclerc just as much but it would just break the game in every aspect possible.
I have to agree that modern MBTs from other nations being added is quite stupid and allows for absolutely BS gameplay which is very far from reality.
4.7 BR is the last playable point of the French tech tree. 6.7-7.0 simply can't take any hits. No matter what people say about the AMX M4. The auto loader seeming always gets hit, even by shots that don't pen.
Also, whats with many french tanks having fire extinguishers modeled into them that you can't use without unlocking them? AMX-DCA 40 has 2 Fire extinguishers sitting in the turret, many top tier tanks you even show have fire extinguishers SITTING on the frontal plates.
If you are going to play France, get your 4.7 line up (AMX13, ARL-44 and AMX DCA-40) and don't bother buying the future tanks. 4.7 can easily net 20k+ sl a match in Arcade, but the post 4.7 lineup often faces tanks even the ARL-40's cannon can't pen, while easily being one shot by a single piece of shrapnel hitting the ammo.
AS for french air? I wouldn't recommend it for Arcade. The 20 mm's almost all of them have is great, but there is no full lineup of 5+ planes at any BR. French air is simply too empty to play. You can club in air arcade with 3.0/3.3 fighters, but just about anything can out run and out climb your short plane. I once was out ran by an I-153. It's seemingly impossible to pass tier 2 french air and I believe gaijen fears the power of stale baguettes and nerfed France accordingly. The only non-french plane in their lineup is the A-25. Not the A-26 the US has, the US doesn't even have the A-25 in their tree, it's just that bad of a ground attacker. Outside of an F2.222.22 squadron, don't expect too do much in the french bombers either. Their early heavy bombers are great at destroying bases but have such poor climb rate that they can't reach their safe altitude at 2.0 (of about 5km) before the round ends on most maps.

A great way of allowing us to climb the french tech tree would be reducing the repair costs. My AMX-30B 1972 costs 18k SL to repair in sim, and I dont even mount all the mods, because then the repairs would skyrocket to 21k SL

3:17 The AMX-13 FL11 is "the first to have an oscillating turret which doesn't give it a particular advantage". Well, it has however the negative effect of making the gun so bouncy that you can only use it in ambush position... thanks to Gaijin abominable modelling.

@anOKlamp while that's true, I'm paradoxically less annoyed at it. Gaijin has always been consistent in claiming that they do balance vehicles also by using or removing historical ammunition. So I don't mind too much (although they could have given it it's APFSDS and then switched it with the HOT for better historicity and balance). However, poor modelling of known existing data (like the Somua) is just shoddy work.

1. Can you insert a high-caliber shell (e.g. IS-2) to a Tiger 1 driver's optics, that it doesn't activate an igniter of explosives?
2. Can you dodge a shell (I mean you stay in an open field and after an enemy's shot you get out from a way of a shell) from lees than 600 meters? If it's possible, try with smaller distances.
3. How many plane parts can be damaged, such as wing ends or engine, before a plane is recognized as destroyed?
4. Can you make a tower from tanks, where tanks can shoot accurately and guy on top doesn't have to press forward, when guy at the bottom moves?
5. Find a slowest plane in a game. Can it fly with a speed of a maximum speed of slowest jet? Try to use WEP, fall from extreme altitudes and this everything on Arcade because of safety rules from not falling apart.

@@zockertwins and that's the reason why many players are asking for more top tier vehicles and there's more than enough even playing Top-Tier, at some days more so than mid-Br.
And yes, if you just now create a fresh acc. you'll most likely never reach Top-Tier without money, but it is still very easily duable for players who have this game for a while.
Of course it's not impossible, but it takes a very long time, especially when you don't concentrate on a single tree from a single nation and don't have time to play 10 hours a day.
@@zockertwins Yea, without a premium vehicle and or a premium acc you´ll most likely get stuck around Tier IV and since there isn´t any real progress you get done on Tier V (although I have to admit, now with multiple RP and SL changes even Rank V is achivable. I still remember grinding my Tiger II 10,5 for the whole 380.000 RP, now it´s down to 160.000) you´ll end up jumping inbetween nations till you either spent money, have no life or quit the game.
But many people have started playing around Ground Forces Beta and a year after, meaning they had more than enought time reaching the "Top-Tier" back then and with every update there were litereally 1-2 vehicles each or even none beeing added at the top ranks making it easy to keep up with

It's on my mind for some time, that having a Panther in the French tech tree would be good and quite accurate historically speaking. I mean, the tree could have a vehicle with an SL cost not extravagant for once, and France did use Panthers immediately after WWII. That's just my opinion but I would enjoy playing one with the Arl44 and amx-13. That would make it a 6.0 lineup and there is no proper 5,7 lineup for now.
