  • Max Velocity Training: Sprinting In-Season to Build Speed ... My thoughts on building speed consistently in-season to be the fastest, freshest, and healthiest team possible. I also discuss how often to sprint train and the benefits of taking a Feed the Cats speed training approach throughout the year.

    So why is max velocity sprinting so important for team sport athletes? Been trying to find some good reasons. 1- health. 2- it’s a phenomenal nervous system stimulus. 3- improves max velocity (obviously). Can you provide more reasons? Struggling to find info on more. Does it help with acceleration? If so how? Thanks!

    Coach, I would like to see what you do with the longer distance runners in track. Do you have any videos on that?

      My distance coach is spectacular. We are competing at Nationals this weekend. 2nd in IL. 17th ranked in nation. 4 sophs and a junior.

    At top speed when you are at full extension, is it bad when your foot go past your knee rather than directly under(100degrees instead of 90), what is that a sign of?

      what

      @coachtonyholler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s ok if the leg is whipping down and back at a very high speed. If not, this will result in the foot striking in front of the body (reaching) which is slow and can result in injury.

    should there be any max velocity sprinting on x-factor workouts? or should max velocity sprinting be reserved for top speed days? love ur channel

    • @coachtonyholler
      @coachtonyholler  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We only sprint (timed, in spikes) on speed days. X-Factor days are the alternative to an OFF DAY.

    Why are high knees in front of your body important for max speed?

    • @coachtonyholler
      @coachtonyholler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To create tangential force. th-cam.com/video/Um2l6x4gzl8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Kmzox1SlLwoPFVgn

      @@coachtonyholler I just watched this video about how the best sprinters are great at applying force quickly into the ground. Is the idea that high knees also help create that upward energy and momentum? Am I understanding that right?

      @@danielashman1753 You can apply lots more force with a hammer swung 24 inches compared to six inches. Picture the foot as a hammer. Higher foot creates lots more force.
