Out of all of the 8 bit remixrs of the song I've heard, this one is easily the best. All of the others go way too heavy on the chip tune sounds and/or lack any kind of polish, this actually sounds like it would've been used in a game from that era.
I love this so much, it's like the music has become alive. (possibly i'm gonna do a Young Frankenstein reference, so..... alive, it's alive, IT'S ALIIIIIIVE!!) Anyways, here's a suggestion for an 8-bit rendition, "Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Trisection". It's one of my classic favorites.
This reminds me of the Batman NES soundtrack - almost like you hit the right combination of the Sunsoft Bass and the right amount of reverb. This is awesome! Thanks for posting it!

I also made a small batch script that uses ffmpeg.exe to dump the audio from video files into mp3s, which is nice for recording win7 audio without using my sound card. Would that be useful to anyone?
+coatlesscarl I'll recommend OBS as well. It's free, highly customizable, and by now far superior than Fraps and Dxtory, which are becoming obsolete. It just needs fidgeting to find the right settings. Also, I would definitely love to see a tutorial from you! Your covers sound always clean and are very enjoyable, I personally would learn a lot from you. If you have spare time to do it, please don't hold back! Keep up the good work :)

I would recommend 'Multiplatform' since its much easier to use. You can also have text, images, other media right on top of your recording as you're recording live. Very useful software, and again, its completely free!

Recording software depends on how good your PC is, usually. A lot of people would recommend OBS (Open Broadcaster Software). It can record and live stream. +Lumi's (Train) Station I track all the other channels at lower volumes so the triangle and DPCM are more audible, when in fact their volume hasn't changed. The highest volume in this cover is 8, and is only used for like two notes. DPCM can also retain greater clarity with this method, since less or no amplification and distortion has to take place when importing.

Use OBS (open broadcaster) for recording. Its primary function is streaming, but it can be configured to dump mp4s to your hard drive.
