    Been using an older pirated version of FL studio since I was just a highschooler learning music production. Now that I'm a working adult, I bought the producer edition just recently and it's a massive quality of life update. Side note, sure FL Studio is great for hiphop, but it's just as great for rock and pop. As someone who knows how to play guitar and bass but not drums, it's a good DAW.

    This was a really helpful video. As someone who used to make music, but haven't in the last 15 years or so, I really have no idea what kind of DAWs are out there now. I was using Reason 3.0 back in the day! lol Being a mac user, Logic seems interesting, but some of your other recommendations have peaked my interest. Like Reaper, and FL studios. Thanks for the great video.
    Oh, and from another smaller, growing youtuber, really great work with the video. Very well put together.

    Working on a home studio thing and was curious about which one is THE best. I’m
    Between Logic and Reaper. I use GarageBand but lately I’ve been paying others to make beats. Now with home studio I’m stuck between those two choices. Hmmm

    • @johnsuggs7828
      @johnsuggs7828 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you're using GarageBand, then it makes better sense from a workflow standpoint to move to Logic. It's an industry standard in terms of many pros use it. Reaper will get you more about the same thing for less, but it doesn't have the same historical pedigree as Logic.

    I have Cakewalk. I also have Protools free and Reason. I'm just starting to learn Cakewalk and the others I'm not that familiar with. Of those, what's recd for electronic music, but also vocal recording?

    • @Music-By-Mattie
      @Music-By-Mattie  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Any of those will work for you to learn! I'd say just hop in and start cooking up some music! My personal favorite for electronic is Ableton, but it's less about the DAW and more about getting started!

  • @Snailmail1
    @Snailmail1 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    When you said logic and the other daws have a high learning curve to become a master, do you mean they are all difficult and take a lot of time to learn?
    If so, is there one amongst them which is the easiest and the best to record vocals with?

    • @Music-By-Mattie
      @Music-By-Mattie  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Imo, the easiest and most user friendly to use if you’re recording vocals would be Logic!

    • @Music-By-Mattie
      @Music-By-Mattie  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      And yeah, when I say they all have a high learning curve to master, I mean they all take a while to learn, especially all of their intricacies. If you already know the concepts of music production, that can make things easier, but there are a lot of moving parts to learn and understand and ultimately master when it comes to these programs!

      Cakewalk.
      Or any of the free ones.
      Ableton Live Lite comes with a lot of gear she'll probably need to buy. So she'll get it that way.
      Both are very capable systems. Both free.
      Cakewalk may not be available for upgrades on their free version but it's very good. used it for years

      It can be a hefty investment for sure! Don't stray away from those free trials though! Ableton has a great one that lasts 90 days! (The last time I checked!) FL Studio's is a bit limited, but at least you'd start to get familiar with the work flow!

    • @ApfelSgt.
      @ApfelSgt. 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Garageband. But it’s really limited if you couldn’t play an instrument and want to produce a complete track in the daw.
      To be honest, the only good way is to try the free versions to test it out and then buy it! If you really want to get into producing music that doesn’t sound like absolute trash, then you Simply have to put a few hundred dollars into a good DAW! There are no really good Free DAW‘s. They don’t have a lot of sounds and the sounds, plugins, instruments etc. that they have are garbage. And because you‘re a beginner without knowledge, it’s even worse because they don’t have good user interfaces and are complicated to begin with plus there aren’t a lot of tutorials and overall helpings out there…
      To really start with music production is expensive at first. You need at least a good DAW and a midi keyboard which will cost you a few hundred bucks.
      If you want to record your voice or use instruments, you have to also buy a good microphone and you have to buy a audio interface which is expensive too.
      And that’s really only to begin with.
      What makes you to produce good songs besides experience is that you have good plugins, good software/hardware instruments and good sounds! And for everything of that you have to pay again! That will cost you really fast another hundreds or thousands of dollars.
      I produce with logic pro and like he said in this video, logic has the most good sounds and instruments out of the box and even then i needed to buy lots of plugins and sounds after a few months.
      But to begin with, simply buy a midi keyboard and the DAW that you like. As a beginner i would highly recommend you to buy logic pro if you have an mac because the interface and DAW overall is the most beginner friendly in my opinion.
      The problem is, if you learn a specific free DAW and then want to switch to a good DAW, you have to learn how to use the program again. I would recommend you to test the DAW’s out or watch a lot of videos and then buy one and stick with it! If you learned how to produce music and it sounds like trash, then it’s not the fault of the DAW. You could produce Banger with every good DAW.
      Music production is a really really Expensive hobby which needs lots of effort to learn the DAW as well as music theory and at least learn a little bit how to play Keyboard.
      If you don’t want to spend money in producing music, you don’t even have to start with it because you simply will not getting good songs out of it!
      Simply forget free DAW‘s, spent a few hundred bucks or you wouldn’t get happy…
      That’s not meant to be mean, it’s simply the hard reality… 😐

    Funny that no one reviewer mentions Presonus as a DAW. Why is that. I know I'm moving away from it because of the cost: $180 yearly subscription. Any thoughts?

    • @Music-By-Mattie
      @Music-By-Mattie  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Studio One is okay, but a yearly subscription makes it tough to root for! There are a lot more powerful and more used DAW's out there that will cost you less in the long term! I think as long you're not completely familiar with a Studio One workflow, then switching might be a good call!

    Thank you Mattie for the good understandable introduction into Daws. But 3 things would be nice to change/add:
    you speak too fast, so I changed the tempo of your video to 0.75 (not everyone here is an Anglo, you know?), and you didn't explained how YOU began? What was your first low Cost steps?
    Last but not least you didn't analyze DAW Android Apps, Cakewalk, BespokeSynth, Ardour and Cardinal. A tabloid with all important points compared would be nice as pdf download.
