Kimi No Na Wa was originally targeted towards teens and people in their 20's, but somehow it was able to catch the hearts of millions of people all over the world across all ages. What exactly in the movie was able to connect with so many people all around the world?

      Unchainedmaple888 by J. J. Abrams, because Star Wars wasnt enough.
      Haha, I kid... I'm that rare minority who thinks Star Wars is basically where it was. I enjoyed Last Jedi, but I fear some of the choices made in that film may hurt it later on (the fact that some were supposedly due to studio rewrites, which doesn't surprise me). And honestly, given how studios work, only so much could be blamed on him.

      +DokiSuru Are you talking about Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda? KokoSake was released in 2015, Koe no Katachi's one-shot was released in 2011. Koe no Katachi was then serialized into a weekly manga in 2013 and ended in 2014. Koe no Katachi didn't steal shit, please do your research.

    The last two sequences affected me the most---from when Taki heard Mitsuha's friends talking in the cafe up until the end. I cry every. single. time i watch that scene, and now that I've thought about it, I think it's because we're all looking for something, even if we don't know who or what it is. We feel a connection to the characters when they finally find each other, cheering them on because we know how it feels to look for something and there is pride in knowing they found theirs.

      Silent Voice's manga way more good rather than adaptation movie...

    • @AlfredKamon
      @AlfredKamon 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Not to mention that the execution of Silent Voice is pretty poor and psychologically incorrect (coming from a psychologist)... It's very different from the manga, where the psychology of each character is explored more in detail and the ending is more detailed and actually makes sense... (very few of the characters in the movie were developed aside from the male protagonist. It's sad because the original plot was about "self-acceptance" and yet almost no one has come to accept themselves by the end of the movie). Unfortunately it was pretty clear that the film director didn't have as much experience as the mangaka when it came to these kinds of topics.

    • @BrokenTooth
      @BrokenTooth 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AlfredKamon the director did her best trying to incorporate the whole manga into a 2 hour movie. When I finished watching the movie, some things felt blatantly incomplete, like the scene where the main character becomes more desperate to be happy around the girl and her sister, was cut off kinda abruptly. I think the movie was supposed to be open ended, and maybe that works in a way where you just provoke an emotion and leave it like that, without tying the ends.
      The manga felt more complete, because it is. The director must've decided to do the movie in that open-ended fashion rather than cutting certain parts of the story to fit it into the 2 hour mark. It was a good decision as far as I can see, but it could've also been done better, because there have been some compromises with the pacing of the movie.
      But overall, I think kyoani missed the chance of translating a silent voice into an anime series instead of a movie. that way, it could've been more wholesome and complete.

Your Name or Kimi No Nawa won the hearts of the many from all ages & it even got a money EARNING (not "making") anime film at the worldwide box office. Hope we could see even more success to Makoto Shinkai on his next untitled project in which it'll be release on 2020 & earned twice and more successful than Your Name & who knows, his new anime film might get an Oscars nod, a year later & win it just like what Spirited Away did it before. #Redemption ☺️😉😎

    I have watched it one day later after A Silent Voice, and I find it a poorly written one with weak story and poorly build characters, it was just a simple romantic anime for me and I could not even feel close to crying or something, it didn't bring much emotion from me, on other hand A Silent Voice has much better characters, and touches more human topics and feelings from real life, so at the end I was crying over that. Maybe it is not nice to compare them, but these are fresh experiences for me, so I have do it. In this matter I don't understand why this anime has so high score, they basically took two old ideas the changing bodies and going back to the past, to fix something, reminded me of The Butterfly Effect even that movie has brought much emotion from me than this anime.

    I filp my table living room table when they finally meet in the end ,because you know Shinkai was quite merciful to less that happen which is great. But the part where they meet at the summit did hit me hard, as hard as the ending.

    The scene I cried the most was when Taki came to the village where Mitsuha lived but the village was destroyed and then he tried to find clues and it kinda killed me mentally. And also I cried so much when Mitsuha tried to save the people in the village because I thought that they might not make it to a save spot :c. That was so sad

    For me I shed tears during the scene with the song "Sparkle" and continued to do so the first few times when listening to the song in the soundtrack release, whether in Japanese or English, though I think I still do so when watching that scene which I have stopped watching regularly to preserve its impact as it is not easy to get me to cry. I think I was moved by Taki wanting to save Mitsuha's life and the way he loved her.

    I mean, I LOVE rom-coms and romance anime. This was a romance anime? How? Macross, romance. Kimagure Orange Road, romance. Wolf Children, romance. Eureka 7 etc etc, Tenchi Muyo. Fate/Stay Night. But this movie had people balling their eyes out? Why? I love movies like Kissing Jessica Stein, Notting Hill, Groundhog's Day. But people payed more than any other movie to see this and balled their eyes out, over this? What?

    I don't know, it was good, but I've seen plenty of anime movies that I thought were better, and liked more, and it didn't really live up to my (admittedly high) expectations. Glad we finally got a Shinkai movie that had an ending I could be a little happy with though.

    Tokyosaurus can you make an observation about anime relationship with Japan's tv shows/movies industry? I used to watch the famous tv series based on manga etc back in 2000s and 90s but I rarely see them now. I just wonder if anime prosper renders the live action to be more or less obsolete. Jdrama used to be famous and refreshing but now Kdrama (Korean drama) and others leave them in the dust.

    The moment that really stood out to me was when mitsuhai noticed taki wrote “I love you” on her hand. Having reassurance from your loved ones always gives you so much confidence to do what you have to do. It’s love , but the main question I have is actually the idea of soul mates. I think it’s fantasy, there are so many things in life that can happen people have different personalities, different experiences, different locations, so I don’t think there’s only one person you were dates to be with, because who’s to say , that you were destined to be with a person but u made a mistake and choose a different path and ended up with another person. Soul mates is a cool concept to believe in, but it’s not realistic

    those reasons, you will only hear them on a TV show. because it's TV!. so cheesy! Kimi no na wa is so popular because the movie is good, the story is good, and the music is good. that's it! And it goes the same for Star Wars. People love Star Wars not because they remembered their encounters with some jedi.

    It was a really good film, but I'm I the only one that just thinks that it's not this game changing masterpiece that everyone says it it. I guess it may have to do with the fact that I both didn't relate to this film, nor are love stories to my taste in anime, but even than, this film didn't do anything particularly mind blowing. It was a nice story, with entertaining characters, beautiful visual and a nice OST, but these individual elements I've seen been done better in other anime films.

    So it's get popular because their own real life romance experience ?
    No wonder it's not affect me at all because i comparing it with other anime or manga with same type of genre like this 1.
    for me story from Air is more deep than this 1. they're separated by curse and generation, keep trying their best over generation to cure her curse or she will dead and repeat to next generation.

    so its a fast and furious success, it may touch on these romantic topics but nevertheless a senseless one, since the writing was medicore it really shed no light on why should anyone really care for the characters. Remember being popular doesn't make it a masterpiece, all in all a perfect consumer product.
