    Video games have 0 connection to violence. In some studies, it was even shown that people prone to aggression showed LESS aggressive behaviour in real life if they have violent videogames to have an outlet on. The CDC also doesn't claim video games cause violence, they are backed up by the APA, who have done many studies on aggression and videogames and found no link.
    Saying video games cause violence because someone who committed a crime played videogames, is like saying toasters cause violence because many people who commit crimes also own toasters.
    Correlation =/= causation. The media doesn't understand this though.

  • @Kreinsamer

    After watching videos upon videos with Francis, this particular one made me subscribe.
    How do video games induce violence? I'm a German teenager who thinks he has anger problems and struggles to keep his fury inside. What do I do? I take it out on fictional, unimportant, insignificant video game characters, letting it all out, and lessening my anger toward real life. Video games don't cause violence. They reduce it.
    ... Most of the time.

    You cannot blame an outside influence, such as video games, movies or music, when people snap and do fucked up shit. Those same people were always going to snap. If video games, movies and music truly had such a powerfully negative influence, there wouldn't be anybody left to play video games, watch movies or listen to music. We all would have already gone crazy.
    The most violent, and crazy behaving people I've ever seen have been sports fans. They go insane when their favorite sports team loses and they go even crazier when that same team wins. People are actually murdered for wearing the wrong sportsware in the wrong places. Hell, people are actually murdered for wearing the wrong COLORED clothing in the wrong places.
    We will always have a minority of unstable people who go batshit. Whether it's from getting destroyed at a video game, watching your favorite sports team get buttplowed, or dealing with the fastfood folks getting your order wrong for the hundreth time. Those people will go fucking crazy and do stupid shit, usually to people who do not deserve it.
    I wish people would stop doing this shit. But, since crazy people will do crazy shit, at least stop targeting innocent people. Don't shoot up schools, or murder innocent people, or kill loved ones before offing yourself. I would never tell anyone to hurt anyone, ever. but in a world filled with rapists and pedophiles and innocent-murdering gangbangers, I can think of far better targets for rage, than the poor folks getting their lives destroyed by these should-have-been-aborted sub humans.
    Again, do not hurt anyone. Deal with your shit, regardless of how horrible it is. Stop throwing violent fits, you bunch of pussies. Much love.

    One of my favourite video games that touches on the subject of violence is Postal 2. It's a bit crude, both in gameplay and humour, and it really was funnier to me when it came out because I was still a kid with kid's humour, but I digress.
    You live out five days of the life of the Postal Dude, doing mundane things like getting a book signed by Gary Coleman (he voice acted for the game and everything) or grabbing some milk. You'll be presented with annoyances,. like a huge line, that tempt you to just steal the milk and blow everyone away with a shotgun to get it done. The whole game is a bloodbath in this manner.
    I never realized until I was reading about it as an adult that every single violent act in the game is entirely optional. It was supposed to make you realize that you chose to be violent and the video game didn't make you do anything. I thought it was really cool the way they did it.

    Well i can say there is a reason why video games have ratings a lot of parents let there kids play Mature 17+ games when there too young and the ADHD mental issue is very common now a days i blame bad parenting and video games don't decide another s choices. Its kinda like saying guns kill people when people kill people. But yes i do agree with you Francis great video.

    • @annaab2001
      @annaab2001 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      what does ADHD have to do with ANY of that? They just have a hyperactive disorder. I agree with everything you said, but why bring in ADHD? That's not caused by 'sitting around and playing mature games' it's not a choice.

    • @AuroraMoon97
      @AuroraMoon97 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Narcs. Well my friend im making a connection to that and common incidents happening now adays from everything from shootings to murder! ADHD plays a role in this with children who have the disorder who are exposed to violent games at to young of an age....You can look this up for yourself.And im not saying all incidents are related to this just whats most common.

    • @annaab2001
      @annaab2001 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Giovanni Algeri that's probably because they have more problems than just ADHD. Like, how they're more prone to getting schizophrenia or dyslexia than people without it. That's just like saying videogames are the problem not the government's way to asses the mentally ill. It's IF they have something else, NOT ADHD. Good talk.

    • @AuroraMoon97
      @AuroraMoon97 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Narcs. Look bro ik a lot of people with this disorder im not trying to start problems here Im not saying its always the cause and ik there are people with other issues but ADHD has a good role in it cause it makes them do things without thinking about the consequences especialy when a young kid knows nothing about life :(

    • @annaab2001
      @annaab2001 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Giovanni Algeri I know, sorry if I seem defensive. I just think your getting ADHD mixed up with another disorder because of false info. Sure they get distracted, but that doesn't mean they're violent kids. lol

      We as a species are violent,greedy, and cruel but people choose how they behave and not all people exhibit these symptoms in their everyday life. Video games may portray violence ,but t it only expresses how we as a species behave.You cannot blame mankind's nature to be prone to violence on video games as he said people used to kill each other and we still do today we are always in one war or another.Tell me are people violent because of video games or are video games violent because of people?I propose that the connection between insane people and video games are as follows:
      Absolutely normal people play video games to have fun, enjoy themselves and pass the time, as well as to vent the anger and frustration that is a result of the stress presented to us by everyday life within our society.
      Insane people are naturaly prone to violent tendencies and are attracted to outlets for that behavior Such as video games (not that video games are bad but that these people are and see video games differently and play them to satisfy an inate desire within themselves that is significantly different as to why normal people play video games). As these individuals mature or something in their life causes large amounts of stress then these symptoms will surface and they will start exhibiting abnormal behavior characteristic of mental instability.
      You see it is not that video games cause this to develop in children or other people, but rather those that are bound to exhibit such behavior in the future are likely to have played games in the past not because the games are violent but because THEY are.
      One cannot say that games are the cause of insanity just because a lot of the people responsible for exhibiting such behavior have played games. because games are in fact wildly popular among most people along all classes within our society and if what he said was true and games are most popular among the lower middle class then it is probable that the majority of said people had suffered significant money troubles in the past and endured lots of stress.over time the individuals who suffered the worst may have gone insane and since most people probably fall under lower middle class nowadays because of the hard times they suffer stress and look for outlets like games or other forms of entertainment to relieve stress those who are unable to relieve said stress may exhibit violent behavior so there very well may be no connection between video games and insanity and its just the economy and the resulting problems it creates responsible for insanity and the rise in shootings and other related incidents. Putting a large portion of our countries funds into investigating video games is a pointless endeavor and a diversion from the real problem .....our economy!
      It may also be very well possible that insanity is a pre-existing dormant trait that exists within all human beings and only begins to manifest after an individual has suffered significant amounts of stress.

      ***** I think I can agree to some extent after all grand theft auto is an absolutely pointlessly violent video game. Sadly parents dont pay any attention to the age rating on games, which is how we have kids between the ages of nine and twelve playing nazi zombies , and grand theft auto. Such games do display violence but even then for the most part children know the difference between reality and fantasy if they dont then it is their parents fault. It is the parents responsibility to check video games for their content to screen out games too mature for their children if they do not the parents not the game (no matter how violent)are at fault.
