Wow this is the first build I remember watching. I was the weird 5 year old getting up at 6:30 Saturday mornings watching powerblock on spike before bugs bunny was on at 8:30. For anyone asking about the low prices, I was around 5 so that's what? 15ish years ago! Still a great build and broncos continue to stand the test of time!
Even if you had all tools and resources at your disposal, those prices can't be matched today, the older stuff is getting harder to find & material costs have skyrocketed. God, to go back 10 years....
This whole build makes me pull my hair out. They replaced the valve springs for "cheap insurance" but didn't replace anything more than pads and rotors on the brakes. Not a single hard or even soft line replaced.
Bought a new 1979 with the 351 ci from Miller Ford in Burlington, WIS. Loved that truck. Ot had the handling package and positraction rear and limited slip front axle. Put 165k on it. It also came with as 400 ci as well. My brother had one with that engine too.
I gotta say. I love the direction car shows have taken since the internet. Recycling is key and stuff is still really worthy. A work horse dont need to be a trailer queen. Or it can be. Whatever turns your mudders hahahaha
Do a Bronco 2 build!!! In the middle of a build of a 92 and would love to learn from the best! Learned a lot from this series and the sport truck series so help me!!!!
you won't regret owning one. Prices for good ones are going up every year. I drove from WI to ID in May to buy one to replace my rusted out WI Bronco I drove for 5 years til it was too far gone. Have a 90 with a 300 and a 5 speed. If you want a lot of power get a V8 or be ready to swap one. No speed parts for an injected inline. Its slow as shit but if you want to keep it stock then its ok. I will keep this one stock, but am looking for a trail machine to build up and beat on
Nevermind the inflation, the tools, the shop, the pro paint booth and protective kit and the labor, but these guys apparently went short block->.30 overbore+new pistons->long block->plumbing->wiring->timing and tune up in exactly 0 dollars. Aluminum intake, 750cfm 4 barrel carb, 8 plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, gaskets, belt drive, alternator, distributor..... All out of thin air for free. Now that's skill!
My neighbor hates my f100 4wd, he especially hates the dirt donuts i left in his front yard after him ratting me out for setting up a pool for my kids in my yard in this 100* heat...
You might want to send this Ford and Remind them It was the full size Bronco that set the height of the bar nobody could reach in looks and Attitude , And Remind them how much it annoyed the competition.. There was no Competition.. just a thought.
This is not a weekend build or a few week build nobody has 6600 just laying around and lmc takes foreever to deliver. Nobody can go to there local tire shop and get big tires. Rough country takes weeks to deliver. I just love on how these shows gives false hope to the home DIY guys that love to tinker on there rigs. Instead puts them in the hole and selling there projects
So, you go through all of this upgrade , worth a nice chunk o' change . . . and you don't use a lick of rust converter before installing brand new parts on a crusty old frame, guaranteeing those "new" parts soon catch the same rust cancer?! Just a thought. I wire brush and spray rust converter on everything I'm going to install any part on/to; its not that much extra effort and the converter is fairly cheap, as well, and it accepts paint w/o prep, once its dried. I spent about $50 on spray can converter and did my entire frame and under carriage - after five years it looks great w/ just a tiny bit of bleed through where I didn't achieve good coverage overlap.
I think your missing the point, it's all about a budget build thats intended to be abused. Strong motor, good brakes and suspension and a slap of paint. It was also recorded over a decade ago
@Barry Boppins "huuuuuur look at me, I'm classy and obviously have better taste than these dudes, omg I chipped a nail" - Barry Boppins 2019. There i fixed your comment for ya 😜
@Barry Boppins are you ok bud? I can't tell if you're heavily impaired by a drugs or just are clicking the next recommend word on your keyboard as you write your sentences out 😂
@Barry Boppins I don't know how to tell you this, but I think you may be taking TH-cam comments a bit too serious. But by all means keep going, I'm enjoying this immensely
@@stevegibsonii3910 that Is true. But what are the added benefits? Not much that for sure. Why didnt they coat the underside of the cab when it was off the frame?
I love how people are bitchin about the price... When you build yours (guessing most of you are keyboard warriors though) you use the budget and tools that are available to you. Sometimes the market gods are forgiving and sometimes they ain’t. Don’t be jealous of others and just enjoy the ride man
What was the engine temp on the bronco when running it through the hard course and did the fuel pump starve when going up the inclines? Did any water and dirt get up high onto the intake manifold? Maybe a snorkel is next? Lol!
You guys need to make a one thousand dollar car with over three hundred horsepower. (PS. I know it’s almost impossible but I was wondering if they could do it)
LSD isn’t made for true off-roading. If that’s all your budget allows then put your money to the front where you might only have an open diff. LSD helps in wet grass, snow, and other light off-pavement situations. The clutches will last a while. Truetrac for example you just install and forget. No hoses, compressor, switches, additives, etc.

Love my 88 bronco, my daughter is 16 and starting her 78 bronco build real soon, a lady gave her the bronco when she was 6 years old for free.
By far.....top 5 of the best low buck builds.....good job guys
The best broncos the 78-79 models I reckon , great build guys for the budget, awesome to see how much you guys spent too. 👍
Even if you had all tools and resources at your disposal, those prices can't be matched today, the older stuff is getting harder to find & material costs have skyrocketed. God, to go back 10 years....
Always a good idea to replace the steering box bolts on these. As they brake All the time,,,,
Could have spared the paint and bought a front locker.....
dean warren yes or they could’ve welded the spiders
A pair of truetracs would be perfect, & cheap.

Back when truck shows actually beat there trucks they built on tv
Man! That thing is a lot more hard core than the 79 we have sitting around. We struggle just to keep her running haha sick build guys!

Love these shows, thanks for showing prices.
Absolutely my most favorite....
Rough country= great value brand of truck lifts
My favorite Ford truck is a Bronco😎
Not an overly sentimental person but there's something about seeing an old vehicle being brought back to life

@@gertraba4484 Understandable, they are pretty old already, nothing sandblaster and welder wouldn't fix.

normally i think big lifted trucks look pretty ridiculous but there’s no doubt that this is one of the most badass vehicles i’ve ever laid eyes on

the 78 bronco is THE TRUCK to have
Das Bronco only needs one thing. Y'all need cup holders.
Love that the tires are worth more than the truck.
Ah yes improvements. Such as windshield wipers. Or sealed cab.
Love the show just learning to do my own you guys are good Have a f 150 trying to rebuild. Love the paint job
I've seen these things tow tons of people out.
LOVE THAT BRONCO!
An honest account of the costs would have been nice, as the machine work for the engine build is one of many items not considered.
My neighbor hates my f100 4wd, he especially hates the dirt donuts i left in his front yard after him ratting me out for setting up a pool for my kids in my yard in this 100* heat...
Loooooove the color scheme.
Das Bronco Rules!
Right, now I am gonna get one.
That's cool I got a 91 bronco with lift some welded with solid front axle be cool to set it up like yours someday
I had a 89 Eddie Bauer I put a 5.0 H O in it put a 3inch lift on it with 35s true dual exhaust and ya it was a beast
I got the same thing minus the exhaust, I use it as a trail touring truck

2 cycle oil in the power steering stops leaks and the whine.
I love how they under priced everything!

6600 for that minus labor, deal.
H&P Customs - assuming you have all the pricey tools these two had at their disposal...
Great build I still don't know why the chassis wasn't sandblasted and treated
Broncos take jumps real good, shoulda gotten some air
Boy, O J could have used this white bronco.
He would be proud
Need sgt rock out there too
Reminds me of project crazy horse.
Next time, invest in some windshield wipers too. :lol

Bronco $6600 build with like $15,000 in labor.
Yes, so many people "forget" labor. Ask my doctor.

Haha
Should have put the roll cage on the outside.
Lockers!!!!!
Would be better to keep it in oryginal 70's style

LOCKERS!!!!!!!!!!
Lockers front and rear.
I don’t think that duct tape on the S10 roll cage will pass tech!

Dad bronco needs a front axle skidplate
DAD DAS potatoe patato LOL

My 1979 with the 35i ci weight about 4900 lbs.
Too bad they couldn't grasp the idea of flat-top pistons in 460's .
Put the top on
I wonder what they could do with a Tacoma
I want it

Did it bother anyone else when they opened the hood and the they didn’t paint the inside of the hood😂
Should be 205 t case
Never...never...never build something offroad without installing lockers front and rear... (auto lockers, Truetrac, air, who cares)
What about old school LSD out back and locker in front?
