    One of the best tips i can give after owning boats and trailers used only in salt water, Use dielectric grease on every electrical connection. I Solder my connections then put dielectric grease on the wire then heat shrink over that. Never had a connection corrode or fail. Even the 7-Pin trailer plug on the car is full of it, When i assemble Deutsch connectors i use dielectric grease in them as i have had them corrode after being submerged in salt water on the trailer.

      I am not sure if I would mix and match between dielectric grease and adhesive lined heat shrink. Doesn't the dielectric grease prevent the adhesive from sticking?

    Totally understood everything, but just from an observation standpoint, you went to the details of using marine wire, heat shrink, EVERYTHING DONE the proper and perfect way for demonstration, then you use the worst master power on/off switch made, instead of a proper marine grade master power switch. There will be inexperienced people who will do the same thing, regardless of you just telling them not to, because you did it in your example, lol. Other than that, perfect demonstration!!!

    Just rebuilding a 14' aluminum fishing boat. Enjoy your site! Is there a way to wire a battery charging system by tying into the magneto on a manual start Suzuki and using a rectifier/regulator set-up? Thanks.....

    Tiny Boat Nation, you have more available slots under the rubber covers on your bus bars. Could you put other items on them like depth/fish finder? And the the trolling motor on the terminal posts after installing item you showed? I’m sorry if a dumb question.

    • @TinyBoatNation
      @TinyBoatNation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not the trolling motor, but for small fish finder, yes.

    I'm looking for a standalone switch box to put in a Carolina skiff that does not have any storage compartments or waterproof areas. All I have is the battery box. I was looking for a switch panel to hang from the bottom of a bench seat. Any suggestions? I was looking through your store and only saw switch panels. Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hey bud I’m trying to wire up the same type of deal on my tiny boat with a switch panel, do the fuses always need to be between the battery and switch/panel or between the load and the switch. The switch panel is rigged up with 20a fuses before each switch and I realize everything takes different amps just trying to get it right before “testing” it out. Thanks brother

    • @TinyBoatNation
      @TinyBoatNation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would use 5 amp for everything except for the main master. 2 amp for fish finders unless otherwise specified.

    Hey man if I ran the bell light to the anchor light all in one cable then running it over to my battery do I have to ground off anything? I hooked up my wires went out in salt water and a lot of pinholes were created in my aluminum boat and I was getting shocked also does my battery have to be setting in a battery box? I know this sounds crazy but I’m new at building

    • @billyjoel9783
      @billyjoel9783 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I’ve been watching all of your videos trying to get some more understanding of it all. For some reason I have Electrolysis problem.. I run in salt water...The wires are ran from the bow , to the transom..Was trailer wire good thing or bad thing? Also like I said I have tiny pinholes and apparently it all came from the electrical problem..so I’m trying to figure out what I did wrong but I can’t understand I guess
      Do you have kits for the wires needed for bow and stern?

    • @jameskerschbaum3882
      @jameskerschbaum3882 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@billyjoel9783If you ran a ground to the boat frame that could/ would cause issues due to stray current. Copper in contact with aluminum accelerates corrosion. Pressure treated wood if used for decking may have copper as part of its formula . Also if you do not put your battery(s) in boxes if they leak the acid will eat through the aluminum: causing pin holes. Do you have an anode attached to your hull or motor ? Look up the article how to protect aluminum boats in salt water. If you look up on google blue sea systems wiring diagram there are drawings. New wire marine also has a wiring guide for basic to complex.
