Was listening to Chopin's best works on my laptop, and this exact piece was playing. So melancholic, so nostalgic, a haunting melody. And immediately I remembered this Halo 3 ad. I'm not a gamer and not a Halo fan (never played it), but this is still one of the BEST ads I've ever seen. Cinematography and music is on point. Brilliantly done.

Today marks the ten year anniversary for Halo 3. I doubt anyone will read this but I just miss this. Halo 3 was my childhood. I remember growing up and having LAN/system link party’s and doing custom games and just having the most amazing time with just this game whether I was playing competitively in a cringey clan that me and my friends made or inviting random people to play fat kid on a Friday night. There was something magical about it that I don’t think can be recreated again ever in a game. Words can’t really describe the nostalgia or the feeling this game gives me. I know some might think it’s dumb to think about a video game like that but to me it was more. Halo will always be a gargantuan memory of my childhood and I wouldn’t ever change that. Thank you bungie for that amazing feeling you gave me and your genius creation. Tough to think it’s already been 10 years.
Would i be correct in saying that i think most of gaming died with last gen consoles? Tech/internet has ruined creativity. Its as if the industry has enterd a super highway. Blinders on the only objective to get from A to B. Instead of just hitting the road and seeing what you find along the way. Almost as if A.I. run the industry now. I think Halo 3 is the peak of video game advertising. The ad campaign wasn't just for a video game, but an experience. All of the ads, promos, etc for this game were beautiful. After going back and watching this, I legit teared up because I was able to experience this as a kid.

Trix IGN was just an example. Every professional game rating service gave it an 8/10 or higher (many gave it over 9.5). Don't be an idiot. Halo 4 also got numerous prestigious awards AFTER it was released. And if you were a 'true' halo gamer, then you would know that the campaign is way more important. Halo is about being immersed in a rich, creative atmosphere. All you seem to care about is the multiplayer, so stick with your COD crap and leave real science fiction gamer fans (namely Halo) alone. To this day almost any part of Halo 3 can go toe to toe with games today. It's a shame what modern gaming is. To this day I'll still pop in a halo 3 disk and just go on a nostalgia trip. I lived through the fire and pain of High Charity. I watched Cortana pass from me as I headed back to where this leg of my journey began. I destroyed the Ark. Just come to revisit this advert I always remember when I was so excited for Halo 3 to launch. I really like Halo's live action trailers, like this, Helljumper and Deliver Hope. Showing how horrifying wars actually are, instead killing people just for fun.
The feeling of never having another game as good as this one breaks my heart. The fact I made all my xbox 360 friends on this game alone says everything. The despair in every Marines face, the fear, anguish, pain and death. The humanity in each single one - so vibrant and yet so demeaned from this existential threat of the covenant. With only the Master chief, a demigod amongst men, even in a time of seeming defeat to simply rise his head while activating a plasma grenade in absolute and ensured defiance. This is how humanity overcomes, not by anything except belief in who we as a species are and what objectively is. Juxtaposed by the covenant, guided by religious motifs and corrupt to the core over petty rationale.
Honestly, I wish somebody would come out of nowhere with some new epic single-player saga like this. Their just aren't any like this coming out anymore in my opinion, except for a select few. Has anyone noticed how all the singleplayer story driven games are dying out? I don't know I just miss games like the old Halos, Mass Effect (hopeful for Andromeda), KOTOR, Bioshock, Red Dead, Walking Dead. I mean don't get me wrong, some of these games are rolling out sequels or episodes and their are still story driven games being rolled out, but there are less and less every year and none of em seem to be up to par with their predecessors. I don't know, might just be me taking a nostalgia trip (Just ran through Halo 1-3 past few days as well XD), but I just feel like this is the case.
You couldn't be any more right. Off the top of my head, the only really good story based single player games that came out within the past five or so years other than what fuzzyfoot already said is the metro games. Even then though, they're based on the books completely, so it's not even all that original.

And 2018 had quite a few decent single player games too, with god of war, Spider-Man, and rdr2. I feel as though single player games are starting to make a small comeback, but with the likes of fortnite, Black ops 4, pubg, and other multiplayer games, it's hard for devs to judge what people want, and just go with what's popular.

The shot at 0:55 makes me cry every time. The music swelling paired with the image of this poor soldier, cowering in complete, utter terror; hiding behind his Assault Rifle like a child hiding behind furniture after hearing a bump in the night... Absolutely heartwrenching.

I think Halo 3 is the peak of video game advertising. The ad campaign wasn't just for a video game, but an experience. All of the ads, promos, etc for this game were beautiful.
After going back and watching this, I legit teared up because I was able to experience this as a kid.

Halo 4 was amazing. It had one of the best storylines of all the halos. Under Bungie, Halo 3's campaign was crap and Reach didn't even use the novel's awesome story. Why exactly did you not enjoy Halo 4? Were the new graphics and weapons just too good for you? Was the sterling campaign too awesome? How about the perfect multiplayer experience? The only thing you should regret is posting your comment.
Mr. Trix, I believe you are the one who must have been dropped on your head as a baby. Opinions are something that can be 'right' or 'wrong'. Also, are you accusing IGN, one of the most respected game review sites in the industry, of also being mentally disabled? Because they gave the game a 9.8 /10. Also, halo 4 has had one of the best storylines I've seen since the original halo. This is the first time we've seen how master chief actually feels inside his metal armor. If you want to trash me, well fine, but you can't trash the whole game review industry because they all concur with my apparently flawed opinion.
Trix IGN was just an example. Every professional game rating service gave it an 8/10 or higher (many gave it over 9.5). Don't be an idiot. Halo 4 also got numerous prestigious awards AFTER it was released. And if you were a 'true' halo gamer, then you would know that the campaign is way more important. Halo is about being immersed in a rich, creative atmosphere. All you seem to care about is the multiplayer, so stick with your COD crap and leave real science fiction gamer fans (namely Halo) alone. None of us want or deserve your pointed and flawed opinions.

To this day almost any part of Halo 3 can go toe to toe with games today. It's a shame what modern gaming is. To this day I'll still pop in a halo 3 disk and just go on a nostalgia trip. I've had so many memories of this. As Lord Hood once said "...Never Forget those journyed into the howling dark and did not return"
As someone who majored in Marketing and got my BBA, this is the single best video game commercial I've ever seen. Actually, its probably one of the best commercials I've seen period.

Just come to revisit this advert I always remember when I was so excited for Halo 3 to launch. Watching this and still to this day I remember how powerful it felt back then, I still feel that same emotion to this day. They don’t make games or adverts like this one anymore.

The feeling of never having another game as good as this one breaks my heart. The fact I made all my xbox 360 friends on this game alone says everything. Great community of tea bagging players with an amazing story to back it up. As well as being the first game I ever played (Halo 1).

It’s 2020 and I’m still tearing up thinking about those simpler times.
The despair in every Marines face, the fear, anguish, pain and death. The humanity in each single one - so vibrant and yet so demeaned from this existential threat of the covenant.
With only the Master chief, a demigod amongst men, even in a time of seeming defeat to simply rise his head while activating a plasma grenade in absolute and ensured defiance. This is how humanity overcomes, not by anything except belief in who we as a species are and what objectively is. Juxtaposed by the covenant, guided by religious motifs and corrupt to the core over petty rationale.
Honestly, I wish somebody would come out of nowhere with some new epic single-player saga like this. Their just aren't any like this coming out anymore in my opinion, except for a select few. Has anyone noticed how all the singleplayer story driven games are dying out? I don't know I just miss games like the old Halos, Mass Effect (hopeful for Andromeda), KOTOR, Bioshock, Red Dead, Walking Dead. I mean don't get me wrong, some of these games are rolling out sequels or episodes and their are still story driven games being rolled out, but there are less and less every year and none of em seem to be up to par with their predecessors. I don't know, might just be me taking a nostalgia trip (Just ran through Halo 1-3 past few days as well XD), but I just feel like this is the case.
See Uncharted and The Last of Us. Naughty Dog is one of the only companies that values story just as much as gameplay.

Off the top of my head, the only really good story based single player games that came out within the past five or so years other than what fuzzyfoot already said is the metro games. Even then though, they're based on the books completely, so it's not even all that original.

@@timothyschneider4702 When I wrote that, I never got around to going much in depth with any Witcher games, but absolutely. And 2018 had quite a few decent single player games too, with god of war, Spider-Man, and rdr2. I feel as though single player games are starting to make a small comeback, but with the likes of fortnite, Black ops 4, pubg, and other multiplayer games, it's hard for devs to judge what people want, and just go with what's popular.
