This is a good rendition and I can hear why they chose him - there's some similarity to Gabriel in places whilst retaining his own voice. Have read interviews with him and he seems like a genuinely nice guy and just chuffed he got to sing in one of his favourite bands

When Ray became the voice of Genesis back in 96, he wasn't hired to replace the soul of Peter or Phil on vocals, those are awfully big shoes to replace. No, he was simply brought in to carry on the sound,spirit of Genesis, which in my opinion based on this version of "The Carpet Crawlers", exemplifies why they hired him in the fist place. This guy has talent.
Well it seems that I made a bit of a mistake Ray, I really thought this was Peter talking and singing But I guess I was wrong and I apologize but you know, Ray, you certainly are the cuddly fellow as well and such a sweet persona about you and you sing Carpet Crawlers so very well.
