Thank god you are still doing good
Life is good
Not only does he do good. He's doing well.
Hickok 45 will always be a legend in the year 3,000 another civilization will be watching his videos while charging their nuclear plasma pistols and rifles 😅
Amen to that🙏🇺🇸
He’s like the uncle or grandfather that everyone wishes they had like Massad Ayoob of Wilson Combat.🙏
He is a very knowledgeable and capable gun enthusiast, who has done very well sharing that knowledge and demonstrating those capabilities on social media platforms. Not sure everyone wishes he was their grandfather or uncle, as much as some other folks do!
My dad passed away and left this exact gun to me, I love it
nice!
Keep it forever.
I had a heart attack this week. Not looking for sympathy, just wanted to say thanks for the entertaining videos, they've given me something to do while sitting in this hospital bed. Thanks for your efforts and information.
Hang in there. Maybe plan on a special firearms purchase when you get released - it might do your heart good. :-)
Also, hopefully, you can identify things that might have contributed to your heart issue (stress, diet, work, not shooting enough, or whatever) and improve your health.
@hickok45 Thank you for the response! It really made my day! You, and your son and your channel always are entertaining and enjoyable!
Blessings and prayers to you for a speedy recovery! My brother had a stroke last Friday and prayers to you, he is also in recovery and I hope both of you come through the better!
@jerryhammack1318 Thank you so much! I'm back home, in 6 weeks I have to go back for another procedure. Anyway, thanks again for the encouragement. Best wishes for your brother.
Life can thrown some curve balls at you. I bought a new snowmobile and a couple weeks later my back finished taking a crap and had to have a couple of surgery's. I had to wait until the following year to ride my new sled. Then 2 years ago I bought a 460s&w x frame revolver. One week later I had a heart attack and a quadruple coronary bypass. Had to wait 3 months for my chest to heal back together before I could shot my new handgun. The golden years, ha! The only thing golden about it is my piss.
Fine looking firearm. Just a thing of beauty.
Thanks
In 1981 I graduated HS & went looking for my first large caliber handgun. I purchased a S&W model 29-2 blued. Pinned 4 inch barrel, recessed cylinder, & of course as you stated THE GUN Elmer Keith said YOU have to own! I still have it, well worn & still 100% stock. Best trigger on any gun I personally have ever shot. Thank you for the old revolver love, as much as I love my 1911 revolvers both SA & DA will forever have a special place in my heart. Merry Christmas my friend!
Class of 1981 too. I have a modern 629 in 5 inch, love it.
I think every man should own a 44 magnum revolver!!!😊
My wife asked for something shiny that goes from 0 - 200 in five seconds or less for our anniversary...
I bought her a scale. We're still not speaking.
This is one of the funniest things I've ever read. Did you opt for the full year lease on the dog house? I have a feeling you may be there a while....... :D
Thank the Lord for you, sir. You brought to the world of firearms with your S&W 44 magnum video. God bless you & yours.
I've loved watching you all these years. Always great to see you! May God Bless you
I was just looking and fondling my, 629, last night. The .44 magnum is absolutely enough gun for me!
Always enjoy your content!!
I am a proud owner of a Taurus M44 in black with a 4" barrel since a couple of weeks. Found it used for a great price in good condition. A little elbow grease and it looks like new. Got around 150 rds through it so far and love it to death. Very accurate and just a great gun to shoot .
Love the wheel gun content, thanks for sharing.
Always a fine day when I have the chance to see one of his episodes. A lot of learning and wisdom on firearms. Thanks a lot and keep doing it , and season greetings from PR, sir.!
Thanks j
Got a 629-2, unfluted, 3" barrel with a trigger job, from my dad many years ago. I got a safariland holster for it and some laminated wood green & black grips for it. It feels so much different than any other pistol I have. I think everyone needs a 44mag in their collection. Not sure if I would have dropped that much coin$ on it, but I'm sure happy I have it in my collection. They are fun to shoot.
I also own a 629-2. Mine has a 6" barrel. Bought it at a gun show cheap because it was filthy and the grips were beat up. I cleaned it up really good and refinished the grips. It's one of my favorite guns to shoot. I'll never forget the show where I bought it. It was in a large convention center with different conventions being held in each hall. Right next to the hall where the gunshow was, there was (I swear I'm not making this up) a "Walking Dead" convention. So in one hall, you had folks buying, trading, and selling guns and right next door you had a bunch of people dressed up like zombies. I often wonder if they planned that on purpose.
Those were real popular in the late 80s. I had a unfluted 2.5 inch I carried off duty. Even that size it was still heavy lol.
Never sell it!
I also had the short barrel back in the 90s but made the mistake of selling it 😢
i love the 629 performance center competitor, it's so beautiful.
Absolutely beautiful stainless steel S&W model 629 4 inch pinned barrel and recessed cartridge head cylinder N frame revolver.
What a way to start off the morning America❤
I worked for John Martz the Luger Carbine maker and he worked on the trigger/sear system for the Luger and he had fixtures that he used to correct angles and contact areas. So, what I learned about trigger to sear contact points is always buy or make fixtures to mock the parts up then, doing trigger jobs becames alot easier to do.
Bought a new pre-lock 629 years ago. Had a coffee can that I would throw a few dollars in a few times a week until I finally had enough to buy one. Kept that old coffee can in my garage and saved the money that way so my "now ex-wife" wouldn't know about it. This is also the gun that got me into reloading. Even back then 44 ammo was very pricey. That of course lead to me reloading for all my guns. Reloading for my 44 629 opened up a whole new hobby for me. Still have that old 629 and don't think I could ever sell it. If you don't own one, do yourself a favor and get one. You won't regret it.
...you done REAL GOOD, my friend - 50 years ago in 1973 I bought a Mod 29 through the post rod & Gun club in Illesheim, Germany, for the then ridiculously low price of $205.50...had until some defecant stain stole in in Feb 1982 - 41 years ago
My first handgun,S&W 29. At 21 years old, took me 30 years later to buy 629 classic. What fine tools they are!!
8 3/8s 29-3 nickel my 1st and will never leave
What a treat for Mr. Hickok to allow us to come along while he has fun with that beautifully made, giant revolver. I have the “Mountain Gun” variant of this fine S&W firearm. Mine is the S&W M629-3, but still chambered in.44 Magnum. The weight has been reduced, which is one difference between mine and Mr. Hickok’s. A beast to shoot, but still fun.
Happy Holidays to all and many thanks to Mr. Hickok and family for another year of great videos.
That 4" Model 629 is a thing of beauty. I bought a 6" model 20+ years ago, that is Magna-Ported. She's a beauty, too.
I think a Hickok45 gun museum needs to be built. It would make a great tourist attraction. It would set John up to have some nice income as an inheritance.
Good idea. Maybe I'll build that while I'm still around! :-)
Maybe a large room with all my guns hanging on the wall with a small monitor over each one. You push a button, and our two or three videos made with that particular firearm play. People would pay at least 35 cents to see that. :-)
@@hickok45 I would definitely visit such a place. There aren't enough firearm museums to educate the younger generation about one of the most influential aspects of American history.
@@hickok45 That's exactly what I pictured. You already have a large media catalog. Don't forget the gift shop. You could even lease a section of the building to an FFL and gun range.
Great idea
@@hickok45 and John could use a couple of them to build “da-fence” around the museum.
My kids Bought me the 629 classic with the 7 inch barrel what a awesome Revolver
Somehow this video eluded me until today.
I too have the pinned and recessed 4" and 8-3/8" 629.
The 4" is one of my favorite and most used firearms.
Its usually My sidearm in the Georgia deer woods 80% of the time.
I love my 629-3 Custom Deluxe. ACCURATE!
Beautiful revolver! S&W makes some of the best!
Made
My brain tells me that my auto has better capacity and accessories:
My heart demands that I carry my 4” revolver.
I know what you mean; I struggle with the same battle. It's not just my heart, though. I just still feel that my first shots with a small revolver under stress are more likely to hit where I intend.
I have semi-autos that feel just as good and have more capacity, so the battle for my carry holster continues.
@@hickok45
I’m glad it’s not just me.
My Walther PDP and S&W 686 constantly fight in my rotation.
My PDP has 11rds over the revolver, I feel better with it at extended ranges (red dot helps), but I am verifiably faster with accurate hits using my revolver (at least on IDPA stages), and it brings an intangible feeling of comfort that the auto doesn’t.
I think when weighing your carry options, the first several shots should be “weighted” significantly more (2-3x as much) in the “equation,” which is why I think carrying a six shot .357 is normally better than a 10+ shot 9mm (unless you’re fighting more than 2 or 3 attackers and need a ton of rounds).
Good morning and Happy Anniversary to you and your 629!
NastyNess Magnum 44 No PI No Higgins 45 Wheeling The Steel 💪🇺🇸
These guns are what should be shown as they are pieces of art.
Absolutely beautiful work of art
I get why you feel the specialness of the day. I got my 629-4 Classic DX at around the same time.
Days worth recognizing.
ETA - the X-frame grips will fit that 4” N-frame of yours and they’ll take out some of the sting of the manly loads.
Yeah, I think firearms "anniversaries" have been ignored for way too long! So many people celebrate silly things like wedding dates and birthdays, while the more important things, such as firearms anniversaries, get ignored! :-)
Not around here!
Actually, the X frame grips will not fit Hickok's 629. It is😢 a square butt frame, whereas the X frames all have😢round butt frames, and the😢 grips are not interchangeable. Pachmayr Decelerator grips for a square butt N frame will work, and make heavy😮magnum loads pleasant to shoot from a 4" 629 (that is how I set up my 4" 629-3, arrived at through trial and error with numerous grips).
Used a 629 6" hunting in South Africa about years ago. It did me good. Wish I could go back!
I remember Elmer's articles in early 70's Guns & Ammo mentioning his favourite .44Mag load: "My 250grain SWC over 22 grains of #2400".
The Model 29 is one of my favorite models. I have wooden cased 29 that I bought several years ago at one of my local gun stores. It’s in a 6 1/2” configuration. The blueing is about as perfect as you can get. Every time I take it out shooting, I want to say to the target, “ do you feel lucky, well do you punk?” lol
You just took me back to a time I wish I could revisit, or, reset present life to then again. My first duty gun was a 4 in SW 25-5 in 45 LC. I loved it. Then the 44mag bug hit me and for off duty carried a 2.5in unfluted 629 for off duty. Both were extremely accurate and reliable. Of course that led me to get a mod 24 to appease my 44spl diet lol. It was all about revolvers back then. You were required to go through the academy with a 38/357 revolver (mod 65) and they were great too. Thank you Greg.
Now I know what I want for Christmas.
I was carrying a 4" 29-10 Classic, in addition to my 4.2" Redhawk .44 Mag, but I traded my 29-10 for a no-dash 4" Model 57. Now I'm toting .41 Magnum when I carry an N Frame.
Nice firearm, I love anything in 44mag.
44mag, a perfect companion for the Bush or if you find yourself in the Southside of Chicongo.
My first 44 was a 629 with a four inch barrel. I bought it at a gun show. I emailed smith and they told me. That it was made in 2015. I liked it so much. Months later. I went and bought myself a five inch version. The first ammo that I shot out of it. Was 44 magnum. It was a little snappy.
I have a 4” 44 magnum 629 my Dad left me, had it since 2015. Definitely a nice pistol.
Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana.
😆
Ohh...she's a beauty. Gosh the S&Ws have such beautiful lines. Gorgeous.
That is a beautiful piece. I really like the pinned barrel and recessed cylinders. I have a 29 with a 4 inch barrel, but it is not P&R. I put Pachmayr Decelerator Grips on mine. That takes some of the sting out of full power loads.
I prefer a revolver over an automatic pistol. That is a fine tool you are demonstrating, Sir.
She's beautiful, Thx for sharing ⚡
He is the reason the aliens haven't invaded yet.
Hickok45, please be here in 20 years and many more to come !!
Gramp had two of em in .357 man they were something. Got em in the 80’s when he died my granny sold em…
So sorry for your loss, maybe find out where they went and you might be able to buy them back, lol. Clay
I absolutely love hickok45, please share his link with your shooting family/friends. He is my favorite go to for shooting videos by far. This one was great as I still truly enjoy my S&W 629.
While I do own Glocks, Springfields and CZ's I love watching him shoot my mainstays...Beretta 92FS, Browning Hi-Power and older Colt and SW revolvers. The .357Mag and .44Mag calibers are still my favorite shooters in my handgun collection.
I only like P&R model 29's. I did not know they produced a P&R 629. I would love to have one.
Attention Hickok - My oldest friend that I’ve known since kindergarten(44 now) has a S&W exactly like that except it’s chambered in .357, it’s has the ivory looking grips(not my cup of tea) and it’s registered(😱). 17k+’offers and he won’t take it!
I’m pretty disgusted with how cheap and greedy S&W has gotten over the years with their revolvers even through they’re absolutely kicking ass with the M&P pistols.
The new 5.7x28 M&P is affordable(still not cheap but allot cheaper than FN) and apparently it kicks ass!
My M&P 1.0 .40 is an outstanding workhorse!
GodBless you Uncle.🙏🇺🇸
New S&W revolvers are still good and not a single one of them is worth 17k.
Good show. Great revolver . Mine is thirty four years old. Still shoots great. Thank you.
Awesome S&W model 629 44 mag 20 anniversary thanks for sharing Hickok45
Own one myself and carried it for twenty years as my primary back up and yes cross draw.
Beautiful revolver for sure. I am hooked on the pinned and recessed models also. Another thing I love about the revolvers is there is no key lock mechanism to fiddle with or stop the revolver from working on occasion. A small drop of gun loctite will keep the ejector rod from unscrewing. Keep banging those gongs friend!
“This is a .44 Magnum. It’ll blow your head clean off”
Hickok45: “haha, feels like a .22”
My wife and I enjoyed you in the movie Strain 100...Fantastic!!!
Thanks. I'm still shocked that I did not win an Oscar and that Hollywood hasn't been ring my phone off the hook!!! :-)
@@hickok45 Lol...Looks like you guys had a shootin hootin time!!!
That's a beautiful piece right there. I always think about SHTF stuff when it comes to these more simple weapons. I guess that's what you would want. I don't know how much .44 Magnum ammo that floats around, but I guess it's pretty normal. Also can you shoot other rounds through it like you can with many .357's? EDIT: Grandpa answered my question in the video. My bad.
Yeah, but these SHTF scenarios that preach about the most common calibers might just go out the window if the real thing occurs. I have a feeling that the ammo you have might be all you end up with. :-)
Beyond a couple hundred rounds, the biggest value in ammo might be it's trade-for-food value.
Hope we never find out.
@@hickok45 Could you do the weapons from the movie Godfather?
Good info, I appreciate that. Yeah I hope we never have to find out, but we are living in strange times. Thank you Grandpa
Mr.H I love your video! The only issue is I have trouble keeping up with all of them! LOL. But I mean it in a positive way.
Been watching @hickok45 for over a decade. I consider him my TH-cam grandpa.
That precision 🎯💥🔫 👀 !! … y’all see how quick he locked & hit that far gong 🛎 🤦♂️ lol that’s crazy
While the S&W 629 is great for people with large hands, I prefer the Ruger Redhawk in .44 Mag. I am just 5ft 1in tall and 129lbs. I actually owned a Ruger Redhawk chambered for .41 mag back in the late 90s. I really loved that revolver and wish I had not sold it because Ruger no longer makes it. I was a FFL holder back in the day. I went out of business in 1995, after the Brady Bill went into effect. Right now, I carry a S&W M&P9 M2.0 9mm Semi auto with 4" barrel. Still wishing I had that revolver back.
I have 12 family members currently serving in the IDF. I really love your videos so much. Can you do one about the IDF weaponry??
Thank them for their service.
That really means a lot at times like this, thank you@@stephenadsit2274
I like when John zooms in on the gong!
I remember seeing an Elmer Kieth article in Guns and Ammo about him shooting his 4" model 29 at sod clods 400 yards away. I have a 3" Len Horton 629 and a 4" model 29-5, both great guns.
Hola mi amigo yo wilfredo papá oso te felicito por tus enseñanzas de seguridad con las armas de fuego y monicion saludos atte wilfredo papá oso 🐻🐻🐻🐻
Excellent!
I think Mr. Bigfoot lost his arm! Fine wheelgun sir!
Beatiful 🎉👍 Greetings from Belgium Europe 😉🇧🇪👋🇺🇸
Very nice looking and Shooting 629. 👌🏼
Love my 629-6 Classic with 6.5 barrel.
Awesome video hick!
Thanks for sharing. I really like your grips 🇺🇸
That's so sweet" life is good".
Sledge Hammer carried a 6 inch 629!
Old papa 👴 long live!
I agree with you. I think that’s an amazing firearm you’ve got there!
I have a 629 no dash. It’s not pinned or recessed. Never understood why. Great revolver though, it’s gonna get passed on to one of the grandkids.
Guess it was made just after they quit pinning and recessing. Not sure when the dashes started with the 629.
I have one of those Hickhok a 629-3 in .44 mag blued with 10.5/8" barrel with the adjustable front silhouette sight, played $600.00 for it 6 or 7 years ago in South Australia
You only have a couple of years on, me, but you sure have a lot more hardware.. Happy Anniversary to the 629 have an S &W44 mag 4 inch barrel that I' cherish .After watching you shoot yours I had to get mine out & wipe it down. ❤ that gun.😊!!!
Magnificent weapon. Magnificent shooter. America, baby.
Dang it, man! You had to show me this? I didn't want, nor need a 10mm, but now you've made it clear I'm wrong!!!
Very nice review, Sir!!!!
Wow man you are so cool you know I have been watching you before every body else know about you you go man 😮😮
Love these videos. In the uk all we have are baby pellet guns.
Got one LOVE it. God Bless Mr. Hickok 🙏👍😎🦅🇺🇸
Same here I don’t fuss with triggers. That’s a lever of expertise I don’t have.
I know my limitations and have great respect for my own ignorance. :-)
Besides, messing up a trigger can be dangerous.
@@hickok45 yes sir safety first.
Man..... I love the USA!
Greetings from Europe.
Hickok is the reason i use ballistol. Stuff works great on numerous things.
I really like the bigfoot target I never noticed it before.
You shot it like shot .38 sp, very steady.
A "big iron" on your hip for sure. Very nice gun. Correction- beautiful gun.
Personally much prefer the 44 special round in that gun.
Love that gun, and your Trail Boss. Must have watched that cleaning video ten times to keep me company while cleaning my guns .
Yes
Absolutely a beautiful revolver. 👍
This video is going to cost me a $1000! Now I’m shopping for a 629! I blame you Hickok45!
I've got the old pinned and recessed 8 3/8 nickel plated 29 with the walnut presentation case, same goncalo alves grips as yours. Have never shot the hot 44 magnums in it.
That's my favorite revolver
PETA would not like this method! Great humor!
