Or would I need a different cable, dongle? Thanks.

Hey elevated systems, wanting to buy a m1 mac mini and also new to apple, so wanted to know one thing, since mac os doesn't have drive partitions like windows, do need to keep back up for everything incase there's a hardware software problem because windows hasthe c drive seperate only for the operating system where mac doesn't have any and if anything happens, will everything get wiped out as it doesn't have separate drive for OS. How do apple users overcome this. Thanks
Macs do have drive partitions. Since Catalina (macOS 10.15) the macOS system files are stored on a read-only partition called Macintosh HD. The user thinks they can write to this drive (as it's the only drive they can see in normal use) but in fact all their user and application files are written to another partition called Data - this deception protects the mac's system files without giving the user anything to worry about. System restores and upgrades are very easy as result and user data/app backups are handled by Time Machine or icloud backups (or 3rd party software) - basically don't worry the mac architecture is very advanced and backing up is easy. If you do manage to wipe your hard drive, the mac bios will come to the rescue by asking for your wifi details, then give you the option to download and install an appropriate OS for your computer, then it will start restoring your data files from whatever backup you have. (I'm writing this on a PC but macs are very satisfying to use!)
Officially the M1 only supports 6k on DP and 4K on HDMI. I know people have driven one 49" display at 1080p with minimal issues but trying to run 2 at 1440p will probably push the iGPU to its limits. You will also be limited to 120Hz on those displays.
I just received my mac mini M1 and I tried to connect with only one screen and a weird symbol appears on the screen and I can’t do nothing… my screen are Samsung 4k brand new. I am so pissed nobody told me these can’t be compatible. What should I do? This is a headache
Wouldn't I be able to just connect one monitor with HDMI and a second monitor with USB-C? It seems a splitter is only necessary if both of your monitors are HDMI-only.
Hey Man… more power to you. Fabulous work. Just need to ask one thing, everyone is saying that we must go for a 1440p Monitor… can i go for a 1080p monitor? Will it be that bad? 27 inch to be precise
Hi there, good video. I was wondering, if I could connect 3 displays to my Mac Mini 16G RAM, with a Dell D3100 USB 3.0 HUB. I didn't find anything on that anywhere. What do you think? Anyone? One connection could be from the Mac itself, and the other two, form the hub...
I'm pretty sure the keyboard connectivity issues are universal because I have those issues too! They keyboard feels great, but I constantly have to plug it into my iMac and turn it off and on again to reconnect it.
Bluetooth sucks on mac mini m1. I am gonna mod it.. open it up and run the antenna wires to the backplate and add a coax connector or whatever then use an extrenal bluetooth antenna. I might buy a replacement backplate first for the mac mini m1 first if i can.
I connected one screen via USB-C and one via HDMI :) Works great, except that one screen is a 10 year old Samsung, which obviously is not as awesome as my new Dell 2723QE, but for a peripheral screen to display additional stuff like a document or a instructional video is perfect.:) And I'm actually so surprised how great my old Samsung still is! I mean comparing to what's out there now, this is really and outdated tech, but gets older like a great bottle of wine:)
I did the same and my macOS is 14.0 Sonoma. However, it cannot find my second LG monitor with USB-C. It could use to find it individually. Now with dual monitor, it only can find the Dell monitor with HDMI cable connected.
But... how do you connect two LG monitors each with Thunderbolt connections?.... I've done it using Monterey and my 2019 MacBook Pro using it's new remote monitor functionality. It's not perfect resolution option wise, but it's good enough for now.
The 2019 MacBook is an Intel system and handles displays differently than the M1. You can use the 2 thunderbolt connections for displays in the M1 Mac Mini if you don't use the HDMI.
Excellent concise video. My contribution from personal experience: The bluetooth problem I had with a 2015 Mac Mini was that, the third party bluetooth mouse was acting funny, the solution was to put an extension cable to the mouse dongle to set it away from the Mac Mini (just 6 inches), apparently the mouse bluetooth was being jammed by the Mac, either its own bluetooth or other radio frequency emission.
Great explanation! Thanks a lot. Now, I have a question: In a Mac Mini dual setup display, How do you mirror only one Mac display to a TV, Chromecast or Roku stick? If I try to connect my Mac to a Roku stick, both Mac monitors shows the same screen. This is not what I need. 😑
The Mac Mini M1 only officially supports 60hz refresh. I went though so much crap, bluetooth drop outs, wifi issues, screen black outs, not activating after wake etc, multiple calls with apple, visited genius bar, convinced I had a broken unit. On one call with an apple rep, (can you check your monitor is at 6ohz refresh) no it's not, it's at default for the display (120hz) the mac mini only supports 60hz, put it to that and come back with any issues. Absolutely no issues at all since.
It can depending on the resolution, but "officially" Apple dosen't support ultrawide displays on the M1 Mac Mini. The max "official" resolution is 6K 16:9.
I'm thinking about getting an iMac mini and I watched your video. However, I saw somewhere else that with 2 identical monitors the images look different from one another when when is connected via USB-C and the other via HDMI. It's not an exact comparison (as these were connected to a MacBook Pro) but it's here th-cam.com/video/s-BaU7DKpqw/w-d-xo.html at the 5:22 - 5:55 time stamps. PLEASE tell me if the image quality and COLOR on your two monitors in your video look exactly the same although one is connected via USB-C and the other HDMI?
It seems the Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter only supports the second 4K monitor at 30Hz for the Mac Mini M1. I got the impression from your video that it would support 60Hz but maybe I understood wrong. Appreciate your clarification 🙏
May I just point out that the BT connectivity is something I've had a problem with since 2011 with my iMac. BT disconnects and I have to reboot to get it back. It goes off line for heaven's sake. Now, why the hell..and despite paying hundreds of dollar for service contracts..it was never fixed. I would say if you're going to go with a wireless keyboard and mouse, go with one with dongles. Forget bluetooth on the mac desktops.
Hi, I have a Mac Mini M1, and it is connected to two Dell monitors. Each time I switch the cursor between the two monitors to use one of them, I have to click to get access to that monitor. Is there an option when the cursor is on that particular monitor that it can automatically recognise and select without clicking twice to select?
You should get a mic. I’m watching this on my iPhone 13pro and it sounds like you’re only coming out of the normal ear speaker and not the one at the bottom of my phone. Just hard to listen.

How did you connect it? HDMI to HDMI? USB-C to HDMI? USB-C to USB-C?
Wouldn't I be able to just connect one monitor with HDMI and a second monitor with USB-C? It seems a splitter is only necessary if both of your monitors are HDMI-only.
You can if you have a USB-C monitor. Those were more rare back when I made this video.
@@ElevatedSystems Alrighty, just making sure!
Hey Man… more power to you. Fabulous work. Just need to ask one thing, everyone is saying that we must go for a 1440p Monitor… can i go for a 1080p monitor? Will it be that bad? 27 inch to be precise
If you are going above 24 inch the PPI starts getting low on 1080P so I would look at 1440P for 27 inch displays.
@@ElevatedSystems so is it that 24 inch will be enough. I am into TH-cam Video Making… just starting my channel…
@@rahulkumarchoubey2854 24inch is plenty. you could do that with a 13" laptop.
@@cityscriptsltd Thanks 😊
Hi there, good video. I was wondering, if I could connect 3 displays to my Mac Mini 16G RAM, with a Dell D3100 USB 3.0 HUB. I didn't find anything on that anywhere.
What do you think? Anyone? One connection could be from the Mac itself, and the other two, form the hub...
No you can only get 2 independent displays on the M1. The best you can do is mirror a 3rd display.
@@ElevatedSystems Thanks, you just saved me from so much trouble...

you should invest in a microphone because other than audio your videos are great
The Mac Mini M1 only officially supports 60hz refresh.
Absolutely no issues at all since.
ok it works, who knew, hdmi to hdmi cable to main monitor. Thunderbolt to hdmi to second monitor

So the M1 Mac mini cannot handle a 34” ultra wide monitor?
It can depending on the resolution, but "officially" Apple dosen't support ultrawide displays on the M1 Mac Mini. The max "official" resolution is 6K 16:9.
You know, you could turn the mac upside down, then the antenna would be on top. Also the dock is aluminium, so it could also cause issues.
Happy wife happy life 🌺
It seems the Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter only supports the second 4K monitor at 30Hz for the Mac Mini M1. I got the impression from your video that it would support 60Hz but maybe I understood wrong. Appreciate your clarification 🙏
To clarify, I am looking to have a resolution of 2560x1440
@@abedagha Did you figure this out? I am trying to get my 2nd monitor on my mac mini (M1, 2020) on 4k 60hz
@@sunnyhallow yes one monitor through USB-C to DisplayPort and the other one HDMI to HDMI
Both Thunderbolt Display ( 2x USB C to Displayport) Cables is not Working!!! Just for Info.
Waiting for framework video
I knew it. Accountant. Only ones that like two separate monitors
APPERICATE THE VIDEO…
Hi,
I have a Mac Mini M1, and it is connected to two Dell monitors. Each time I switch the cursor between the two monitors to use one of them, I have to click to get access to that monitor. Is there an option when the cursor is on that particular monitor that it can automatically recognise and select without clicking twice to select?
🎉🎉
34 inch wide monitor is fine to mac mini .
Planning to switch on mac, now I re-think all my decissions...windows all the way
But the video was informational
I really think this is a staright forward, video.
You should get a mic. I’m watching this on my iPhone 13pro and it sounds like you’re only coming out of the normal ear speaker and not the one at the bottom of my phone. Just hard to listen.
I'm listening with headphones and the audio works fine. You might want to check your phone, and settings.
PSA don't buy a Mac MINI and Dual LG Ultrafine 4K Displays.
