Myanmar is a laidback country with adventurous street life, very friendly people, amazing street food and just chaotic street life. Yangon is the city I was born and I lived in the upper and middle town of 27-26-25-24 street. You definitely need to visit Artha street, it has a very busy wild and chaotic wild street life. I grew up buying ingredients my mum ordered from there everyday.
I’m a local born and raised in Yangon. This video is very insightful and I can see what caught the interests of foreigners. I have many international friends and if they ask me where is the best places to visit in Yangon I always have a hard time finding anything interesting since I’m so used to the everyday life there. But this vid will definitely help me showing my friends around when they visit. 😂

That's great. I've lived here in Myanmar for almost 9 years and i think only done 3. Those are the touristy places. Go outside of yangon to a remote place Luke Kalaw or Taungyi or go to a beach. I recommend Shwe Hin Tha on Ngwe Saung Beach. There, you can stay in bamboo huts or a concrete bungalow and it is just so beautiful. I would not recommend eating street food because if food poisoning and if you do want to try it, just check to see if it's clean because it would mess up your whole trip to get food poisoning, and a delicious meal isn't worth that. Myanmar is definitely a place to travel to and super beautiful. I've fallen in love with it, but most of the things he showed were downtown. Go outside of yangon to placed like Dala or Hlegu, where usually no other tourists go.
I am very sad because I am a Rohingya Muslim from Myanmar but the government did not recognize us How I wish to go to my country and live in peace Thank you for this beautiful video I enjoyed it😭😭💔

Loved the video! My wife is Burmese with family in Yangon and I have visited Myanmar four times (in 2000, 2001, 2006 & 2009). The vibe of the city has changed for the better, with armed soldiers and lots of plainclothes ‘M.I.’ (Military Intelligence officers) in the streets and rolling traffic stops for the heavily armed convoys with passing generals or VIP’s in tinted windows Mercedes during my first two visits. Definitely agree with your top 11 activities, and would add a visit to the Yangon River waterfront and a ferry trip across to the small town of Dala, and an early morning visit to the San Pya Zei central fish wholesale market.

we lived there in the mid 70's. We could see the shwedagon pagoda from our bedroom window. When the sun hit it, the gold shone so bright, you had to close your eyes.
The best Myanmar video I've seen Mark Wiens. It didn't look like the weather was on your side, though. When that bird got you in the end there, I laughed
Great video Mark, thank you. I love hearing you mention the plastic stools.... my wife doesn't understand my obsession with them! Plastic stools = street food in my mind!
Yangon, especially downtown area has a lot of room to improve. Most of the street foods have poor hygiene, rubbish pretty much everywhere, and the number of pick pocket is increased. The positive side of Myanmar is people are nice.
To be fair, considering I just came a year ago, i dont see much differences compare to the video that was made 5 years ago. I doubt i will see any significant amount of change at anytime soon, also the pandemic for sure slow most of the things down. Eventho i had bad experience in yangon, as my wallet was stolen. But it doesnt stop me to make fair opinion, the police and Burmese are quite helpful and friendly.
Once again, amazing video on a new destination. Still loving these top things to do series! Makes me really want to visit Myanmar now! Is Myanmar very different to Thailand? You should visit Cambodia in the near future and see the amazing Angkor temples!
Mark, thanks for your video. I think that you should definitely visit the very Northwestern Part of Burma. Those place are amazing and full of adventures. Very different from other Southeast Asian countries. In those region, many of the people still live in their traditional lifestyle. However, the road are quite dangerous due to high altitude, and mountainous.
Hi, Mark , thanks for your visit and showing us places in Yangon and Food. However, I don't see you try one of the main or mostly eaten snack : Noodle called Mong-Hin-Kha ( မုန္႔ဟင္းခါး ) which is very much popular across our country and is only be done originally in Myanmar ! Just curious that i did not see you try it . Love to you !

Sana matupad yun para sa'akin
Thanks from Myanmar...
we lived there in the mid 70's. We could see the shwedagon pagoda from our bedroom window. When the sun hit it, the gold shone so bright, you had to close your eyes.
The best Myanmar video I've seen Mark Wiens. It didn't look like the weather was on your side, though. When that bird got you in the end there, I laughed
I just loved the video it was like walking round the place, narration too was great. Thank you so much.👍
Well done mark! Enjoyed watching this video like all your others. I like how you showed a lot of things in the videos.
Jem Smedley Thank you Jem
Love ur videos your so fun to watch I encourage my mother to watch u as well
Great video Mark, thank you. I love hearing you mention the plastic stools.... my wife doesn't understand my obsession with them! Plastic stools = street food in my mind!
Thank you very much, haha, that's a great way to put it - they are very cool.
Nice video summing up the street life in and around Yangoon. Love to visit that place one day....
Yangon, especially downtown area has a lot of room to improve.
Most of the street foods have poor hygiene, rubbish pretty much everywhere, and the number of pick pocket is increased.
The positive side of Myanmar is people are nice.
Thanks.
now that the city has changed a lot! Come again to see how she has grown.
Mark Wiens this was epic... The camera quality.. The narration.. Description end editing was fantastic. Definitely want to visit the place now.
RahimMRyan Thank you very much!
Once again, amazing video on a new destination. Still loving these top things to do series! Makes me really want to visit Myanmar now!
Is Myanmar very different to Thailand? You should visit Cambodia in the near future and see the amazing Angkor temples!
Excellent intro to Yangon, will help in my planning. I appreciate the commentary - descriptive but not overly chatty/jokey/rambling.

Oh my god thank you for visiting Myanmar and I am from Myanmar too, so please make Myanmar more famous please
ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO :0)
