  • I get the Coolant Sensor Bung installed and TIG Welded. I then move on to cleaning up the cast flash and parting lines out of the carb pads. I do a test spry for paint.

That is going to be the most detailed Olds V-8 in the entire land of the webbernet! FYI, I've had great success with painting porous metals by putting a propane torch up to the surface after cleaning with acetone/solvent. This will cook off any of the residual oils, solvents, contaminants before applying your primer/paint. You'll see after only a few seconds this stuff evaporating as you move the torch along. Loving these videos Hutch!

I sweat my block in the cleaning process when I got it back from the machine shop. It really works well.

I bought an Edelbrock O65 dual quad intake with an extra water temp bung welded in and was a little disappointed, but then realized that I was going to need it as well. I will be shaping and sanding it the bung also. You gave me the idea to smooth it out to make it look better, but am going to paint everything the Olds blue.

It's the best looking blue I think. Maybe I'm biased. 😉

Seems like a small flapper wheel might help with the side of the high riseon the manifold. Always excited to see the final version and am always impressed. Good Job!

Prices are no joke on some of this stuff. When it goes up it's usually a big jump too.

@@Nutflame55 that won't cause the leak you're talking about. It's at the top of the firewall. The evap itself will sweat more water than will come in that way.
