A week before finals, I was watching a brass-only rehearsal of this at a high school stadium. They were doing a rep of the push at 4:51, when suddenly I realized I could feel the low brass through the bench where I was sitting...and I was all the way back, in the top row! No percussion or electronics. Just raw brass. When they did another rep of that segment, I paid closer attention to make sure it wasn't my imagination and no, it wasn't. A first for me. I love this corps.
+ShootAndSpin Don't bring that up. You'll hurt the new kids's feelings. Question... why have a drumline when they can't be heard in this audio? Did they mic the hornline? They're much louder than the drums.
I was a crown lover and a BD hater this entire season. Then, on finals night, I sat in the 1st row on the 50 yard line for this encore performance. And needless to say, this corps brought tears to my eyes, made me feel things ive never felt before. This corps deserved it just as much if not more than crown, the precision and the passion that went into this production was so moving that no one could hate the blue devils after watching this performance. Extrenely well derserved devils, well done.
I was lucky enough to have them come to this practice at my school. I'm so glade I finally get to see the end product of all their hard work. Simply amazing.
You guys can hate on them all you want, but the fact is their show was clean and it won. I personally thought the show was very hip and had a pretty neat grove to it. I think what is neat about the current state of Drum Corps is that there are so many options available to corps show designers that every corps has their own unique ideas now. Blue Devils is not like Cadets is not like Crown is not like Bluecoats. It has made Drum Corps exciting, unpredictable from season to season, and fresh. Hats off to the Blue Devils. You guys performed the hell out of your show!
+Mad Pistol When I think of a drum corps that is exciting, unpredictable from season to season I think of The Bluecoats. Their last two shows has transformed DCI IMHO. Having said that, great show BD.
+Keith Strahler And I completely agree with you. Bluecoats is pushing the boundaries of what DCI is about, and in the process, they are creating amazing and entertaining shows. That is what DCI is all about. Never the less, credit is given where credit is due. BD won. They had a great show this year that I thoroughly enjoyed. I understand that not everyone likes this show, but they performed it very well.
I was the most impressed with the improvement Blue Devils have made. From the Clifton show in early July to one week before finals, they made some serious strides. You could tell this corps was not as strong as last year performance wise, but they were the most improved corps of 2015. I think a 3-peat is a strong possibility.
+Hayden G Don't we all? I would love to see Bluecoats take it next year, for they are getting closer. And I assure you the judges don't hope for any one corps to win, they only judge by the rules voted on by the corps directors themselves. And if Blue Devils are the best next year and win, it is what it is. If SCV is the best, it is what it is. If it's Troopers, then fine. And I just watched the finals run between Crown and Blue Devils, and I am not picking sides to say I wanted BD to win. Crown had a good performance, but BD had the best performance. No matter who we wanted to win, Blue Devils displayed excellence all the way. Can't argue with excellence. I say the same for the DCA circuit.... Buccaneers have been killing it since 2005 (except 2011), and it's not by accident. I'm not picking sides, I'm just telling it like it is, like it or not.
Sadly the BD get a lot of hate for their constant winning and overall slaying, but everyone at the top gets hate. This show, Ink, captured every single feeling of marching on the field in thirteen minutes. I was privileged to be able to watch them at my high school super early in the season, and cried at the end of the full run. The overall effect at the end of everyone standing up and seeing the color guard and band smile is so touching, and the hugging of the little girl brought mega feels because that's exactly what that show was like: childhood dreams grown up. It had such a level of playfulness and the music was so intense and detailed and overall the entire audience felt exactly what those players and dancers were feeling. Bravo, INK 2015.
When i first heard that BD was going to do a sort of theatre-based show, i purposefully waited until after the season to watch it... i absolutely love it.
The ballad was amazing!! I wasn't so happy about the blue Devils winning over Carolina Crown, but I love this show especially the ballad great job Blue Devils.
I don't really care what the majority consensus over 2015's season is. But this was easily my favorite drum corps show, musically and thematically. I absolutely loved the abstraction of Clara's imagination while she tries to read, understanding what she can and filling in the blanks with her imagination. But on another level, the whole show feels like a celebration of creativity, imagination, and whimsy with an almost youthful wonder. To me, this was far more powerful than any show that just relies on pure crowd hype or a simple success story. Thank you BD for being you.
Folks who troll this and hate on BD... I just shake my head. As a loooooong time Phantom lover, Crown Supporter, and Cadets appreciate -er, I can't not love BD. The passion, the power, the recognizable style, this show undeniably won. Granted, I wish it was Crown or Cadets won this year, BD pulled out that magic - amazing brass (per usual) perfect percussion - as always - and a disgustingly on-point guard. Congrats, again, BD.
the transformation of this show from June to August is pretty impressive...from the score to the drill...conceptual changes... & everyone's right... this group knows how to put on a show! I like this show better than last year's...and that's saying something! Nice job BD...please visit Vegas one of these days!
Awesome performance by an awesome BD corps. This year any of the to 4 could have taken the title because they all were that good. My personal favorite was The Cadets. But kudos to BD for bringing such variety, color, detail, quality, and emotion to the field.
In the beginning stages, I am in the process of transcribing Rush's "Hemispheres" for the dr um corps idiom....obviously for an elite drum & bugle corps. Seems there is no doubt primarily intended for the amazing establishers &/or coordinators of the epitome of DCI... the cous de gras talents involved with The Blue Devils are the consummate choice for this carefully depicted craftsmanship and showmanship, well-defined and imaginatively extravagant of all outdoor pageantry; complete and true to the composers' artistry with meter and rhythmic and key changes which should, live & in technicolor, tantalize even the most enthused drum and bugle corps fanatics. Or at least this is my imagination and would enjoy any of those familiar with Rush's "Hemispheres".....any idea or input or refusal or possibility that would be constructive in the remotest of feedback is invited.. .?..., Please!!..... This has been at least a twenty-year dream of mine to see intelligently & dynamically performed by non other than the absolute best in original drill constructors & writers in today's drum & bugle corps. Thanks so very much for your approval or disapproval of any of my proposal(s). Email: jamesstorey1121@gmail.com. or phone 903-285-7365. Living in San Diego County currently.
Excellent! Reminds me of the old days, Lakeland Lancer Marching Band back in the 70s, Monarchs Wayne, NJ 1970s. Exciting just being there but no other feeling then when you win it!
I will say. Since 2009 I've pretty much hated every BD production. So much so I normally won't even watch the show. This year that was a mistake. I did connect with this show emotionally. The end definitely brought a tear to my eye. Very nice job.

I'm big on DCI (literally the BIGGEST Band Geek in my school) and I absolutely loved those final moments of this show (if not the entire thing). It was really heartwarming to see Clara enjoying herself with probably the best Drum Corps out there. Thanks for another great show.
The first time I saw BD was in Clifton, July 6th, I think. I was less than impressed....until I saw them at Chester at the end of July and was blown down by the improvement. Usually at least 1/3 of the crowd leaves once the winner is announced, sop the encore is usually down from that. And,. just a remoinder, at Lucas Oil Stadium (my favorite product, btw) DCI Finals contract has been extnended til 2028!
Loved the show, but really bothered by the constant cuts in the editing, especially during featured sections. The musicianship is amazing but the cuts get in the way of the impact, especially in the drums and the guard. If someone tosses a rifle I don't want the camera to cut away before they catch it ... you caught the easy part I want to see the hard part. Same goes for drums, quick cuts lose all the stick work that identifies what makes it special.

ok, let's clear some things up on band competitions in general... what is a band competition to me? a band competition isn't a real competiton to me, yeah, there is first place, best area awards (like best music or visuals) but that's only what those judges think. I think my band is as good as the blue devils, not in how we (my band) and they are into comparison in music or color guard, but in how they express their feelings toward the music. my band is the Monett cub pride band of Missouri and I am fucking proud to be in that band... we got 3rd place 2 times and 2nd 2 times also, made finals once (out of 3 competitions, only 2 had finals, we didn't make the 2nd one) with best music all of those times and recently winning best visuals. those, I'm proud of, but what I'm really proud of, is being able to be in a clique that can provide what I strive for, happiness. a band competition is not a competitive sport in which only the "best" really deserve to be in, a band competition is a place to make friends, express love, and show what real talent you have. don't say that a band with 69 students in it cannot have the exact same love for music as a group of 100+ students in it. don't hate on others just because you think only of what your band does well. love everyone!
I, too, liked Crown's show. It was very entertaining. But after watching the finals, I absolutely knew Blue Devils we're going to win. Brass, guard, and percussion were just so clean. BD definitely deserved to win. If you guys just take the time to re-watch Crown's show, you'll see that at times they are unbalanced and their marching/formations are off on more than a few occasions. I'm not saying they weren't good. This is just me nitpicking. I think Crown got what they deserved, which was top GE! Until another corps learns how to be as clean as the BDs, then it's going to be hard for any other corps to win as regularly as they do. This is coming from someone who is a Cavaliers fan.
That's how I felt for 2019 as well, like I was uncertain but as soon as I watched bds finals performance I knew they would take it, there was just a certain magic that bc didn't have in the final run
If your using an android is really easy. Go to sound cloud, there's a guy posting alot of the really good shows you can download onto your computer, then onto your phone.

Can't wait to get the music on my iPhone. Thanks BD for another great show!
If your using an android is really easy. Go to sound cloud, there's a guy posting alot of the really good shows you can download onto your computer, then onto your phone.
kevin belo do you know if i can get that on apple?
No I don't, I'm guessing the only way that would work is if you could download it directly off the app.
Too bad the guy on the glidecam running around the field sucks... it wouldve been nice to have seen that smooth and unshaky.
I don't understand anything about this show, but that writing is just so beautiful.
It's about fairy tales and a child's imagination. A lot of BD's shows are really next level with their themes. Like 2019 and ghostlight.
That moment when you see your friends from high school in this band and are just proud as fuck for them
3:10 to the left of the guard guy near the child some dude is doing a back attitude. #kineticnoise
This is great! Where are the rest of the bands?
