Isn't it just great to see/hear Gilgamesh not being a giant ass? Caster Gil really made me like him a lot more in comparison to him in Zero and Stay Night.

Gil is a great example of a character who can either be the big bad/giant asshole we know and love or a Kind King/Workaholic who needs a vacation. I love this man
Okay, everyone is like oh but UBW Gil was an asshole. The difference between Cas Gilgamesh and Archer is emotional connection plus experiences. Being summoned in your youth is like reading a book on your life, past present and future. You know what happens but not necessarily the feelings and lessons behind it come with it. Also Archer Gilgamesh had experienced a modern society to which was a downgrade to the people of Uruk's determination. So in his own twisted way he wanted to set humanity back on the right path by gathering the strong and determined and nuking everyone else.
Also him bathing in the mud of holy grail somehow corrupted him, I love Gil but in UBW when he ripped Illyas heart was just cruel to me. Though I believe that he's not inherently evil.

I mean, so many possible stories were opened up seeing this version of our characters to begin with. Kind of hard not to let the mind wander sometimes into fan fiction territory.

When I first watched Fate ADF Babylonia, I was completely stupefied at seeing Gilgamesh being the good guy. And a total troll whenever he turns Ishtar into comedy relief.
the Fate Zero, FSN, UBW, Heaven's Feel Archer Gil was the Gil before he became the King of Uruk, Caster Gil. that's why he was an asshole in those, but a good king in Babylonia
Watching this makes me remember reading fate/hollow ataraxia and him fishing with a bunch of kid's and acting like a brother/dad and this and seen reminded me so much of that ☺
The sheer difference between caster and archer is staggering. If it was archer he’d probably mock them before whipping out his diamond encrusted solid gold set of game pieces and making fun of them for being orphans or something

Kid gil is still a little bit insane though. With cas gil it's basically been beaten out of him due to him realizing his place in human history because of what happened with ishtar, enkidu, and the herb of immortality. Real Ishtar is very scary.
I believe if Caster Gil appeared in Zero instead of well, young Gil- he would’ve acted a little differently. His attitude wouldn’t change much toward the era and it’s people. Gil wouldn’t listen to anyone, but he would have a calmer mindset when it came to fights and his whole “evil attitude”. Since this Caster Gil is much wiser and mature, I just think he wouldn’t have held back on anything- guy can take up close range fights bro... He dodges like crazy, and approaches battles seriously. This version of him would probably understand Saber’s ideals a lot more rather than enjoying her inner struggle and wanting to torture her further. AND imagine the fight between Lancelot and Caster Gil?!
Nope, he would still mock Saber's ideals with added scathing criticism. He's a demigod. He knows exactly what it's like to be different from the rest of humanity and purposefully detached himself from them but still wanted them to thrive. Saber, on the other hand, was too hyperfixated on being the perfect king for everyone (even though that's impossible in of itself) and was obsessed in preventing the fall of Britain (which she only delayed the inevitable. She knew this from the beginning but continued to defy the intended fate). She was too detached from everyone to even realize how much her kingdom crumbled beneath her.
