Looking down over a flooded Daytona Beach

  • The afternoon after Hurricane Irma swept by, Alexander Locke of Daytona Beach took this footage of some of the damage and flooding. The Halifax River can be seen spreading over its banks and flooding nearby neighborhoods and businesses.

    I remember a few years before hurricane Irma hit Daytona beach they also was hit by hurricane Mathew in 2017. From 2017 to 2019 Daytona beach was hit by 2 hurricanes within a few years apart. But they have picked up the pieces and moved forward in bringing beauty back to Daytona beach! We visit there every year and it's definitely one of our favorite beaches to visit in Florida.

      Same here, I’m moving there at the end of august and soooo looking forward to it and driving on the beach.

      Mathew hit in 2016 , Irma 2017. No hits since except now Ian 2022

      The beach and piers are obliterated.. don't come .

      @@douglashurd8652, yes. Hurricane Ian's destruction was historic. Can't imagine how long it will take our community to recover.

    this is crazy I had no idea it got flooded and daytona lagoon slide broke. I was there from august 23rd to september 6th left right before Irma hit

    So that happened right before I got there. DAM. I was there September 5 2018- December 21st 2018. CRAZY in Florida.

    The rot on the roof. They mold traps rotting insides coated in spray on funk gunk
