I think it's a difficult choice, especially since they aren't fire ants despite being red and there isn't a lot of information known about them, so judging how aggressive they are is difficult. Part of why he kept them is probably because so little is known about that species of ant, and he has the vivariums to learn about nature. Incredible as always Mikey! And I have to commend the OST too! You should release a playlist in Spotify one of these days! From lady death strike’s theme, to cricket songs, to orcadias theme here, and so many others that I’ve missed. This feels cinematic because the sound track is epic! Who makes these themes?! Watching this while I’m on the treadmill at my gym hehe I just gotta watch my favorite series!!! Thanks Mikey for all that you do 🤍
Please introduce some ant plants into orchadia. They are epiphytic, don’t require much light, and store water in their stems so will withstand the dry atmosphere. But most interestingly you could introduce the local ant species that live in ant plants which would be incredible.
I love your channel and greatly appreciate all the hard work you put into it. I never miss an episode every Sunday. I have to say though that the term "MOGA" hit me the wrong way for reasons I won't go into. ugh.
It isn't inevitable. Different ant species live in different environments and eat different food, making competition minimal. Unless you are talking about an invasive takeover of course, which is always possible, especially now that AC accidentally added black crazy ants again, but the ecosystem is now so well established that I don't think even invasive species would massively impact it. The ghost ants are a notoriously dangerous invasive species, but they did not cause a single extinction despite still probably living in Pantdora. The Dark Horde only got so dominant because it had no competition. That's also how the Gnomads took over after the Dark Horde was removed and the Terra Raiders were wiped out by mites, despite gnome ants being native.
I am an Orcadian! From the orkney islands of Scotland so its been fun seeing orchadians of a different species growing and flourishing. Makes me want to do adventuring in a rain forest as we don't have such a thing where I come from.
This weeks episode has the exact same ending as last weeks ending, ants that are presumably invading. This episode was not even connected to the ending last week. There was no war. And no stopping those invasive red ants. Instead we had a really interesting episode about redesigning Orcadia. Idk if the cliffhangers are necessary if they aren't actually going to be continued on next episode. This content is strong enough to stand on its own imo.
He's just a guy on youtube doing his ant thing. Also, his videos end in a dramatic cliffhanger, it's just part of this series. If you don't care for it, then you can always skip it! It's something I and many others enjoy about his videos in comparison to other wildlife/animal youtubers.

I don't know who he was trying to appeal to though: MAGATs who are famously bigoted against LGBTQ people like him? Or perhaps he was trying to hijack the slogan in an attempt to bring people together(?).. In any case, there are enough people in the comments for whom the use of that slogan didn't go over well; it's too soon, and so much damage and division has come about thanks to MAGA mania. Real people are going to be hurt because of MAGA "values", and I don't see anything cute or clever about that:(
Legit jump scared me with those ants at the end!
Orchadia definitely looks nicer now, it's nice to look at everything! Hearing you talk about the crickets is always great, it's cool what they did!
Seeing your footage of the real outsde canopy made me wonder if you have considered adding more mosses to the tree limbs.
Yes! I will try again!
With that being said, I love orcadia 2.0 but just curious, why is the right side bare? it slightly seems lopsided. Is there a particular reason for this?
Watching this while I’m on the treadmill at my gym hehe I just gotta watch my favorite series!!! Thanks Mikey for all that you do 🤍
"A Seven Nation Army couldn't hold me back" - Red Ants
😂
"I'm gonna fight 'em off
A seven nation army couldn't hold me back..."
The ending really startled me! I jumped! 🤭
I have to say though that the term "MOGA" hit me the wrong way for reasons I won't go into. ugh.
He's MAGA. I'm not surprised.
7:06 little did he know we have to drink now
You should keep a quarantine area for new plants. Might help with preventing unwanted introductions.
The ending is always a surprise 🐜
whats with the moga jokes lmao
Question : what do you plan to do when one population of ants inevitably takes over the whole vavarium
Orchadia looks amazing. I love the upgrade!
So excited to see what will be introduced next!
Making something the way nature would make it is a stroke of genius.
I know your not that knowledgeable about birds but you should add some like birds in orchidia
I am actually also a long time bird enthusiast and owner of almost 100 birds. I'll think about how we can incorporate birds.
Please do can't wait to see orcahidia too look more lively than ever.
Dude, how many times are you going to have to get rid of black crazy ants!
I am an Orcadian! From the orkney islands of Scotland so its been fun seeing orchadians of a different species growing and flourishing. Makes me want to do adventuring in a rain forest as we don't have such a thing where I come from.
Hello, Humans
Never let some human say what you are. Show the world who you are, by being consistent to your character.
TERRANCE OUT
This weeks episode has the exact same ending as last weeks ending, ants that are presumably invading.
I’ll be honest AC family this is better than anything wild life related on TV
Fr
Bear Grylls pretty fire tho
@@Somerandomblokefromreading Bear Grylls is a serial faker tho
Agreeeeed!!!!🎉🎉
@@Fantastic_Mr_Foxhe just has to deal with the production company! I would bet money he CAN do the things he fakes for the tv shows!
It's like the one in avatar where everyone was having a peaceful time until the *red ants* arrived
Detective, I have discovered Red Ants in my colony.
They do not bite androids, perhaps I could replace them.
"Got unwanted ants? We have just what you need! Introducing these amazing banyan ents that specialize in making all your ant problems go away!"
That banyan tree looks great in there man!
You capture the magic of early 2000s discovery channel so well! I’m surprised they haven’t reached out to put you on TV! I always look forward to new episodes of this
21:42 looks like some kind of spider wasp?
Some kind of wasp for sure!
It's looks like a emarald cockroach wasp
Moga mission achieved! I’ve been missing the orchidia updates, I understand why now and I love that you addressed it in your usual fashion - with thought, research and love. So cool.
when the vines were coming down, and he was looking for the culprit, was I the only one thinking monkey? lol
"Isn't mother nature the best at supri-HUOUOUGH"
Looks way more like a treetop! Good job!
You should take the opportunity to remove those ants, nothing touched the vines since you built the first terrarium and then suddenly when the red ants arrive even the insects try and stop them. That's a sign you should get then out of there
No the vines were getting eaten for some time now. He just didn't expand on it for a while.
Literally saw you post 11 seconds ago I am super happy to watch this video
It may not seem intuitive at first but consider adding wind to Orchadia.
@@JovanLove Yes, there is wind. A fan turns on at various points of the day.
the new tree looks awesome
but im not sure about leaving those reds in there
What do you mean make orchadia great again 😭 PLEASE keep politic madness out of your channel, it's been disheartening watching all the hate over social networks lately and I don't want one of my last safe bastions to descend into it too
The first thing that strike me about Orcadia is Air Circulation
I wonder if is vented enough or if all the gases from below collect up there
Just fogger
Yes, the top and entire left side is mesh, plus I have two fans blowing through the tank, one of which sinulates wind and turns on every now and then each day.
@@AntsCanada Can you add Giant cave cockroaches in the vivarium? They got their name for a reason and Gojira going to be full after one roach.. Also a Croc skink pair if you want to because they are wild caught and if you get too much of them sell them.
Much needed greenery, and I love how the light looks like the moon in the canopy.
Love everything going on. Do you plan to release videos of the other ant colonies like Fire Nation still? I imagine if so you guys are stock piling footage etc. just wondering since it’s been no mention of the other ant colonies that are playlisted
Absolutely had a right laugh at that gasp at the end. This man is never gonna be able to sleep at night thinking about all these invasives showing up 😂
I'm kind of uncomfortable hearing that slogan of "make orchadia great again"
Not me. He needs Trump to end these ant wars, too. 😅
yeah, same here
Its gonna be huge, the most tremendous canopy, it will be lush again, it will be green again, it will be smooth again.
glad to see others sharing my thoughts lol. it's a slogan that has unironically been used to commit acts of hate and really isn't a funny joke imo
Soon there will be vineanomics
Maybe the weaver ants moved to the lower area because of a lack of broader leaf plants to make nests?
They did, banyan trees produce a milky sap, even on the leaves, when they are damaged or pierced, so weavers can't/won't use it for nesting.
Ok.. this was a wild episode. I didn't expect orchadia to protect pantdora like that! And he fact that orchadia got a redesign is amazing. Can't wait to see more hard work of yours!
