I considered that as well. When looking at the first picture, I kind of thought the gas block looked like it had a Yugo gas-cutoff system. I ultimately decided that was a trick of the light, but it nagged at me.
I had an SKS for years and never found a suitable way to install an optic. There's a ton of options but not many I cared for. I ended up just saying to hell with it. Sold that gun because it was already quite modified when I bought it and butt-ugly. I intended to get a bone-stock surplus one, but at that time the market for the SKS (really, all surplus firearms) went nuts and there was no way I was going to pay 600-700 for one.
The photo looks like it was intentionally compressed to make it look worse, or it was taken from a further distance and digital zoom was used which would degrade quality.
Very informative…would be great if some from the media saw it. I have two SKSs, a short barrel “ paratrooper “ ( has nothing to do with paratroopers of course) and a beautiful Chinese police carbine How stupid do you have to be though to pick that SKS to try to kill the president ? A cheap Savage bolt action hunting rifle and scope would be a far better choice

Thanks for the breakdown, this stock looks very much like an old composite monte Carlo stock I removed from a Chinese Factory 26 SKS right after I got it lol. It was so freaking heavy...and ugly.
The "SKS" firing a steady diet of Mil-Spec ball ammo can also be a little "harsh" on optics, especially "budget" units. It is NOT the recoil impulse from the "mighty" 7.62 x 39 cartridge, but the non-buffered collision of the carrier / bolt assembly smashing into the rear of the receiver. It "pops" the reticule on "lesser' scopes. But,how many $900 plus scopes do you see bolted / glued, whatever, onto a "pre-loved", $300 SKS.
The ultimate Florida man SKS right!? It probably has one of those cheap Chinese scopes intended for air soft guns. And a jam-o-matic Buba 30 round mag. 90% of those SKS high cap mags are total garbage! I had an opportunity to buy one of those Chinese SKS’s that use real AK mags from the factory. You got all that from this blurry photo?….. you should be working for ballistics FBI. On another note, would this be ahold over from Ukrainian armament pre war era?
I'm so glad you are an sks specialist because the ak was false claim. I bet he couldn't hit a man at 200 yards with that crappy rifle he had. Somehow I'm happy that idiots and not marksman are trying to take out my guy.
They released a much clearer picture last night (Sept 23rd) on Fox News. The scope is held on with electrical tape! There are 2 bands of tape on either side of the trigger guard, and there is no burn marks or anything to indicate it had ever been fired with the scope on. It also looks like the bolt would actually contact the scope and knock it around if it were to be fired… I think most people here know you can easily get a replacement dust cover with a rail for optics on these, but obviously he didn’t know that. I’ve gotten a lot of venison with an SKS, and fired countless rounds through the platform over 25 years. He would have been WAY better off with the iron sights than this garbage set up! Thank God he was an idiot and got caught before he could take a shot, but I highly doubt he would have hit anything like that. An experienced shooter could have put the irons on the 500 mark and we would likely be having a different conversation today… Now how the h*** was he able to get that close for that long without being detected?!? Scary to see this much incompetence at such a high level…
Call FOX New for an interview. You can call the other Lame streams but they will probably ignore you. I would also send your analysis of the make and style and send it to the Secret Service and FBI since they incorrectly identified it as an AK 47 the first go around. Your knowledge is superb and should be spread around.
First time I've seen straps holding a scope on an SKS. I am familiar with after market dust covers that had a picatinny rail on the top as I have experience with this. But, I never considered these or any scope mount using the dust cover as viable let alone being able to hold zero. I am shocked that with this guy's apparent background that he would be using a POS bubba such as this. I'm wondering if he could accurately hit anything more than 50 yards out. And if the target was within 100 yards, the SKS iron sights are very accurate. Good vid however. Based on the magazine, I was originally thinking it was an AK variant although someone seemingly close to the scene had ID'd it as an SKS. And I know that you can get these bubba 30 round magazines for them.
300 to 500 yards with a rifle with a scope mounted in this way? I don't know how accurate an SKS or this particular SKS is, but I think chances would have been quite big for the shooter to miss, at least on the first shot. Given the fact that there was probably nowhere for Trump to hide, he might still have succeeded by just shooting again and again. But all in all, it doesn't seem like a very skillful attempt, thankfully.
Ok. I also was interested in the scope and mount. A lot of interest has dropped off from my customers (professional experienced licensed 35y gunsmith). Several young people are interested in the SKS because they play computer games. I have no knowledge in that area. I’d like more details on your reference to “bands” or “banding”. Holding the scope. And your reference to use like this in certain parts of the world. This would all be interesting to me if you could expand on it with your knowledge. It would be cool if FBI had you evaluate the gun; I’d say that might be likely. Until that time, could you find example of one with the type of scope mounting you suspect it had . And show & talk about that one in a video related to them being used in that configuration in parry’s of the world? I’d like that. My interest has NOTHING to do with the particular thing used the other day to be potentially be used criminally. Thanks

@@Triangle26 Other thing was he let the barrel through the fence. NO SNIPER in THEIR SNIPER mode would let the barrel to be seen. No mention of the previous shooter? I'm going to take a wild guess both shooters were connected to the DEMOCRATS!!!!!
Imagine if you get a message that says come to this spot for a free bee jay and you get there and there’s two backpacks and a bubba’d sks on the ground and you go “oh i am a patsy”.
🤣
My SKS Type D rattles like a bucket of bolts😅 I couldn't sneak up on a deaf person
😂
Thank you very much for your straightforward observation and clear analysis of the weapon. Much appreciated
An analysis that was well done!
At first I thought it was one of those Yugoslavian long barrel grenade launchers like mine and he took the Rite Aid launcher part off
I considered that as well. When looking at the first picture, I kind of thought the gas block looked like it had a Yugo gas-cutoff system. I ultimately decided that was a trick of the light, but it nagged at me.
A better picture came out today
I had an SKS for years and never found a suitable way to install an optic. There's a ton of options but not many I cared for. I ended up just saying to hell with it. Sold that gun because it was already quite modified when I bought it and butt-ugly. I intended to get a bone-stock surplus one, but at that time the market for the SKS (really, all surplus firearms) went nuts and there was no way I was going to pay 600-700 for one.
Your scientific approach is refreshing and entertaining. Those who think otherwise can move along. I, for one, will be sticking around.
Who else has looked a mutilated SKS rifle and get the same feelings you get when you discover dead kittens?
looks like a 'tell' for a staged setup, esp the plates and bags on the fence.
we are being deceived cause we are dumb, weak minded.
Excellent info. Thanks for posting. The AK/Makarov/SKS are always interesting to me.
The photo looks like it was intentionally compressed to make it look worse, or it was taken from a further distance and digital zoom was used which would degrade quality.
its a photo of a print out
Very interesting, and informative presentation! Keep up the good work!😊
argh ATI stock
Fantastic video once again, and explained so well.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
Hahahahahaha, dude brought an ATI stock to an assassination.
Lol, but the “T” stands for Tactical!
Very informative…would be great if some from the media saw it.
I have two SKSs, a short barrel “ paratrooper “ ( has nothing to do with paratroopers of course) and a beautiful Chinese police carbine
How stupid do you have to be though to pick that SKS to try to kill the president ?
A cheap Savage bolt action hunting rifle and scope would be a far better choice
outstanding video....new subscriber.....Florida
Sincerely appreciated - welcome aboard!
What model is your SKS? Mine is 1966..looks good.. old natural crate finish
And MSM said it was an AK47
Great job.
Well done 👌
Sad part is we have clearer pictures of the pistol that shot Lincoln.
Wow, that’s strangely true.
great job
I wonder what type of ammunition was being used by this insane individual 🤔
If I was a gambler I'd say Wolf, 123 gr FMJ. Isn't that what you use?😎
I’d take that bet!
Cheap Wolf steel fmj.
You'd need FMJ to penetrate Trump's thick plot armor.
...the dude failed basic sniper tradecraft 101...NEVER...EVER let your barrel be sen from the outside...you NEVER point THROUGH anything...like a widow, door ...or in this case - a fence...
Your knowledge and expertise are god-like to me.
How many SKSs do you have ???
I’m not positive, I’d have to check. More than 15, less than 25.
@@Triangle26 I have 1 got it in 1993 for 39.95. do you remember them being that cheap!
@@jerrydemain2346 I think you meant $79.95. I bought 2 back then.
I hope your channel blows up now man!
Compression bound to a rifle that flexes with each shot 😂
Great video BTW!
SUB!
Thanks for the breakdown, this stock looks very much like an old composite monte Carlo stock I removed from a Chinese Factory 26 SKS right after I got it lol. It was so freaking heavy...and ugly.
a great ad for a bubbad sks
SKS / AK / Saiga / potato/ tomato. 7.62x39 with poverty tier optic set up. History has been made with far less tools.
Yeah it found new life...when CAI started importing them 25+ years ago.
Well, as a minimum, you're informing people THAT that long gun IS NOT an AK-47.
It was 15 years ago so the guy only wanted 250$!! I’m still kicking myself, but I wasn’t very impressed with my Dads Russian SKS so I didn’t but it :( !!! I’m a Bulgarian AK man these days! Love your channel brother I just found it searching the shooting. I’m definitely a big fan now. Great content bro keep up the good work. The second I saw the first picture of the shooters gun, I called it as an SKS. But AK-47 sounds so much better to the anti gun news media right?!? God what a scum bag, I hope that F**ker gets a life sentence! Anyway new fan of the channel much love! -Justin
Fantastic video as always. Thanks for the insight.
You got all that from this blurry photo?….. you should be working for ballistics FBI. On another note, would this be ahold over from Ukrainian armament pre war era?
As to the person making the post... your technical points are excellent!
I knew it was an SKS as soon as I saw the first blurry picture. Crazy how LE doesn’t know anything about firearms.
I'm so glad you are an sks specialist because the ak was false claim. I bet he couldn't hit a man at 200 yards with that crappy rifle he had. Somehow I'm happy that idiots and not marksman are trying to take out my guy.
Great video. Lot of info. I have owned a few SKS rifles, would probably never own one again, there are many better guns out there.
Thanks
*NAILED IT* !
Thanks friend!
The guy came from Hawaii, where did he get his SKS from?, I’m assuming he bought it used somewhere, if he was a felon, he didn’t buy it legally. He sure didn’t bring it with him from Hawaii.
