- One of the biggest acts to emerge from the American metal scene in the 2000s, Trivium is a metal band's metal band with plenty of exciting riffs and guitar work. Since the release of their first album Ember to Inferno in 2003 (at which time lead singer and guitarist Matt Heafy was only 17 years old), they have been incredibly consistent, releasing 10 albums in 18 years. Here is a compilation of riffs from each album to show their evolution - which era is your favorite?

Like any good band, they have like 1-3 good songs in an album. That's great.
The Crusade is mediocre in my opinion
Shogun is my all time favourite
This band is the best metalcore and most stable guitar riffs characteristic
I wouldn’t really say they are metalcore anymore. More thrash mixed with heavy metal then anything else.

@@SuperPyrusMaster I would say that they are really lacking in metalcore elements now. Heavy metal is the best word to describe them. NWOAHM is also appropriate. Not dissing them, I love the band.

Alter Bridge - Still Remains at the 2:40 min mark always gets me :D so good. Saw them live for the blackbird tour and later ab III tour and both concerts were so good. Starting with come to life guarantees attention from the first second onwards :D
@@alexanderh2715 Totally agree brother. That riff always gets me too. He has a sick right hand and he has written many amazing galloping-like metal riffs (including his solo band). Can't ignore his awesome fingerpicking riffs too. He's easily one of the best guitarists of 2000s.
He could honestly do a whole hour-long or longer video on all of Mark's work from Creed, AB, and Tremonti.
So many insane riffs... probably the bests riffs overall from any band (my opinion). You rocked these brother! Respect!

Trivium and Lamb of God are huge riff machines delivering great albums showing that sound can evolve while still staying heavy as ever.

My favorite riffs come from Marc Okubo of VoM but Trivium riffs have always been so solid

It was 2019 - I heard Pillars of Serpents for the very first time on Pandora radio. Needless to say I immediately went through all of Trivium’s discography. Good stuff man - thank you for this!

Such an amazing and versatile band. I remember their august 2017 show. Finally got to experience one of my favourite songs, Kirisute Gomen, live. They also played TSATS before the album release, epic show

In my personal opinion, Trivium nailed what "their" sound was on In Waves. Nobody else sounded like that at the time, and whether you liked them or hated them, you had to respect them. They were absolute giants in the industry at the time as well

I’ve long been of the opinion that they peaked at Shogun and stopped paying much attention after In Waves, but that bit from Beyond Oblivion was pretty sick and the last two songs you chose weren’t half bad either.
Probably would never have heard those songs without watching this video. Great content, keep it up man.

The first time I heard that song.. When ever im going to a concert and were 10 minutes away that comes on! Off that album im torn between 3 songs. That one, torn between Scylla and Charbdis, or Into the Mouth Of Hell. Granted I learned Into the mouth of Hell. I love that song so much!

even tho i dont listing to them alot i like that trivium keeps the kinda oldschool ish metalcore genre and not switching to the new metalcore so a headbang to them
I mean they have changed quite a bit, but more in the direction of prog/thrash/melodeath elements, basically diluting the metalcore sound with other influences

Listening to these ten 10 songs in this way gave me the feeling that their riffs did not change much until around The Sin & The Sentence. But from there until now sounds different and better imo. Interesting listen. 👍
Ahh! The joys of how I used to play like this when I was around 14. I used to lock myself in the room for hours to get at this level so early
