you can do it also! i thought it was impossible but after committing myself 2-3 hours a day to perfecting it, the technique comes a bit easy now. the only rough part is vocals because vocals wear out, not instruments

I’ve been playing guitar almost 11 years, I have the MKH 7 string he’s playing in this video, I play along with trivium songs almost every time I pick up a guitar, and every time I watch this man play, I STILL feel like I have no idea how he plays so effortlessly. His triplets with the single in between are just unreal. Only getting better as they get older too. In the court of the dragon has some of the cleanest, on point riffs I've ever heard. Best metal band of today.
If you like gallops, you gotta check out Iced Earth. Jon Schaffer is the king of gallops. He uses them in literally every single song. I've never seen anyone play faster and cleaner rhythm guitar. I love Matt and he's great, but as a pure rhythm guitarist Schaffer is on another level. For super fast gallops above 220BPM check out the "Alive in Athens" videos of Dante's Inferno, Travel In Stygian, The Path I Choose, Pure Evil, Stormrider, Cast In Stone, When The Night Falls.

You see that Epiphone is making awesome instruments, when their endorsers are actually using the guitars on concerts and records. Matt is one of them. Keep going Epi, you are on the right way.
Yeah, it is really cool when players use their actual signature models. Some guys say that they don't want their name on the guitar if it isn't good enough to take off of the shelf and use. In the past, I have often wondered if brands like Gibson will make guitars for these guys and then put an Epiphone headstock and/or logo on it.... Just so that kids buy is... That thought has gone through my mind many, many times. However, the new Epiphones are much, much better than they were in the past. I have had several since I started playing in 92 or 93...I loved some and absolutely hated others. But the newer ones are much better. The last one I truly hated was made in either 2008 or 2009....
Matt Heafy Rhythm playing is incredible. Very strong right hand technique. He is very inspiring for me. And I'm playing guitar for 15 years now. He is definitely Riff Lord. Thanks for this 1-hour video of absolute greatness.

I didn’t need reminding of how good Matt is. But I’ve still been reminded, and then some. He’s just incredible. I vividly remember seeing Trivium in Colchester, UK about 15 years ago. He was lifting weights outside the Arts Centre and happily talking to all of us. I may still have the video! Such a great guy.

Janick Gers of Iron Maiden played an Epiphone for parts of the set on their "Book of Souls" world tour back in 2016-2017 precisely to demonstrate that "lower tier" guitars sound more than good enough for live use (and presumably studio use as well), even for professional artists.

Veil of Maya, the black dahlia murder, polaris, protest the hero, nevermore, necrophagist, all shall perish, conducting from the grave, the faceless. So many bands have way way more technical and harder riffs than trivium. You're a noob.

I was lucky enough to meet someone working security at a Trivium show and party with them. They snuck me in on Trivium's guest list and gave me tickets at the "Will Call." Honestly, I was there to see Children of Bodom. Aman Amarth opened up, and Trivium supported. All three bands put on a hell of a show. And it was at the Galaxy Theater in Santa Ana, CA. Small place, great atmosphere!
In "Into the Mouth of Hell we March" you can see him even muting the 7th string with the thump of his fretting hand during the verse. That shows his dedication to make everything as perfect as possible. A lot of other players, including myself would probably not even have bothered doing that and just muted it with the picking hand.
Matt is awesome! Great front man, great guitar player, great ambassador for the metal genre! Challenging riffs, but a ton of fun to play! These guys sound just as good or better live as they do on record! Love Trivium!🤘🏼🤘🏼
Incredible. Those verse riffs on court are some of my all time matt riffs. It sounds insane in the record. Also incineration to me is one of the most underrated trivium songs. That album got a lot of hate but I still get pumped listening to it.

Incredible. Those verse riffs on court are some of my all time matt riffs. It sounds insane in the record. Also incineration to me is one of the most underrated trivium songs. That album got a lot of hate but I still get pumped listening to it.
