If it wasn't for An Ocean Between Us (Album) coming into my life at the perfect time during one of the most difficult times of my life, I probably would never have started playing guitar. Nick and Phil are 2 of my favourite guitarists and human beings, these 2 lads paved the way for newer Metalcore and in my opinion were way ahead of there time. Despite the controversies with the band's past, As I Lay Dying were my favourite band for a long time and this video is very important to me. When I started playing guitar it was my goal to play these songs, I probably achieved that a long time ago but to make a video of this quality is even more satisfying. Please give a thumbs up, a sub, a comment, everything helps me continue making quality videos. Cheers guys! ❤❤
Thanks dude, first person to really comment on that aspect. A lot of the time, the thing that makes a riff good, is the build up or the transition. It's hard to enjoy 7 seconds of a riff when there's really no climax.
Homeboy remembers finger placement on his his guitar and ass placement. No matter the shirt or the song, he is on point facing the same angle playing like a badass. 😊
You’re probably not on here super often, but I just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU for posting this. AILD was THE band that got me into metal a very, very long time ago. And I just started playing guitar 2 weeks ago. Your video came up on my recommendations and boy am I glad I clicked! Keep shredding brother! Amazing.
Dude, you killed those riffs. It was so satisfying to sit and stare at those riffs when I've pictured how they might look for so many years. I'm dusting off the cobwebs and joining a cover band to perform a few "2008 myspace metalcore" shows and 'Nothing Left' is on the setlist. That song is way harder to get tight than I thought. Your control and ability to silence any white noise was great, I hope I can achieve the same thing, especially live.
Sick dude. Very nicely done. Gotta go back and listen to some of the classics now. The only ones I’d personally add is the sound of truth and through struggle.
Awesome video man, riffs sounded super clean and as good as there original version. Cool that you know how to play so many different and unique AILD riffs. 10/10 guitar playing, you should be proud.
My Top 10 10. Meaning In Tragedy 09. The Wreckage 08. Condemned 07. No Lungs To Breathe 06. Comfort Betrays 05. Parallels 04. Morning Waits 03. Shaped By Fire 02. Wasted Words 01. Collision
This video got me into ASILD and I have loved them dearly ever since. Thank you so much for putting this together! Your playing is also super tight and inspired me to pick the guitar back up again after a few years of barely playing.
I love how he’s playing stuff that is super technical, powerful, and heavy yet he looks as nonchalant as though he was drinking a cup of coffee Edit: Hey mate, I’d lose my shift if you covered House Of Glass (by ERRA.)
Haha it's actually the complete opposite! I'm trying so hard not to fuck up I can't make a different expression.🤣 I love House of Glass so we'll see what happens. I'd like to make videos like this where I focus on the best parts of each song.
Awesome job dude! I’m surprised Through Struggle isn’t here (not a critique, just genuinely surprised!). My personal favourite is probably Sound of Truth :)
Went to music on TH-cam. Your vid was the first one that popped up. I just wanted some background noise while I did some research on my phone. I ended up watching your video. You killed it. AILD has been a HUGE influence on my guitar playing and I respect your ability. Although,I’ll say you didn’t look like you were having much fun. Lol
Ozzfest 2005 at post gazette pavilion I was drunk as fuck passed out in the lawn before you get to stage 2 as I lay dying came on started playing I woke straight the fuck up and was sober as a judge because they were so good I I love the darkest nights riff
I use to have a buddy who could shred he thought me nothing left I use to bug him so bad to play it one day he said get my other guitar and the other amp and sit down after a few hrs and weeks of practice he said dude it’s time to learn something new lol
@@CaseyWalle I learned most riffs from Shadows Are Security album when I was teenager. This march i got new Schecter Reaper LH as 30yr birthday gift.. Hopefully I have time to practice on upcoming holidays. I Haven't played actively almost in 8 years so my picking wrist is killing me. 😅🎸

@@CaseyWalle me too. Shadows are security is still my favorite album
Well done. And also thanks for playing more than just 7 seconds of the riff and moving on. Love the longer format than what everybody else does
Thanks dude, first person to really comment on that aspect. A lot of the time, the thing that makes a riff good, is the build up or the transition. It's hard to enjoy 7 seconds of a riff when there's really no climax.
I will sit through a whole play through of all these. Well done my man
Also glad he didn't just play all the popular ones.

Phil & Nick, what a duo. Two of the greatest to ever do it imo. Miss that era of metal every day
