So impressed Lisa with your work ethic and fearless approach to repairs. You love that major and it will love you. It’s so clean underneath. Keep up the excellent videos. Thank you.
Aw thank you. Yes got to keep on top of things at some point. Everything gets washed off before it gets worked on. No point in making the job harder than it has to be 😀
Hi Lisa, I believe the Fords are a little different than the t20's Even my Fords have two different steering boxes but I think the seals are the same, one is a 1948 and the other is a 1949 with a 1952 type steering box. Wish me luck! All the best Ken
Some seals (simmeringe) are born with outsside lips against dirt, just like the seals I changed in a Cav pump on a 35x, space for 2 rings there as well.
Hey Lisa I am guessing you served your time to mechanics your knowledge of both your tractor 🚜 s is great, I was reared on a TEF 20 and MF 35 never owned a major my brother had one so did have a drive at that, oh I did buy a E27N for a bit of fun but didn't keep it Cheers
Hi John. Yes i was an ag and plant engineer originally back in the day. The cab makes things a bit more awkward to work on certain areas but it does tip back. Just needs two people to do it safely. Thanks for watching.

Hi Lisa, Seeing you make that repair reminds me that I have to replace the seals on both my old Ford 8N steering boxes. All the best, Ken
Hi Ken. Are they the same as the t20 where you have to take the arms out with the internal nuts?

@@kenrecchia7610 All the best with the seal change 😃

The size of the seal is no longer available as a double lip seal. That is why i cannot install one.
I have made many gaskets that way! Life with old tractors teaches you that.
Can't beat a cearal box for a gasket.
That tub of grease, and copper grease look very familiar! 😂
They all look a like i guess. All made in their millions and distibuted throughout the world. Dont forget to give the video a share 😀

why didnt you just put a double lip seal in last
Because they are not available off the shelf. They are made to order but in large quantaties (In their thousands) that is why it is obsolete.
Hi yes i had to change the p t o selector seal i on put one seal back in it works fine and the spring and ball popped out when i took it apart 😁
As long as you can find the parts to put them back in 😀
