I’ve owned a 4Runner, I own a Tundra and a Jeep now. The Jeep definitely has its flaws, mostly surrounding oil starvation. My tundra honestly doesn’t have any issues lol other than most everything bottom side being seized up. I don’t hate or regret my Jeep though, the utility is convenient around town and with my animals and wrenching myself I’m not very deep in repair costs. Biggest problem I had was conrod knock due to oil starvation, which was due to the cooler seal. Fixing those things it’s been the same as any other vehicle, and I love the cheap parts. If I had to deal with a service department for maintenance and repairs yeah I think I probably would avoid one.
The Toyota is a lot better built vehicle than any jeep. The jeep wrangler was the worst vehicle as far as needing repairs for over 25 years until someone made something worse. They are junk from new, hard pass. I'll keep driving my lifted F-250.
Jeeps have a solid axle on the front Toyota does not. Also, JEEP I feel like has a lot more personality with the removable doors and roof. I can see my people like Toyota, but I decided to go with JEEP.
That’s why solid axle swaps exist lol, and those things are notoriously susceptible to insane death wobble and tons more issues depending on the model lol. Not saying you gotta get a yota, but jeeps ain’t it 😂
Jeeps deform the second you take em on more than a gravel road. If you really want an offroadong vehicle you are dumping 10s of thousands into a jeep to get it trail ready. Source: background in tool and die making, I've owned too many jeeps to count lol, I've designed, manufactured and developed numerous parts and components for jeeps (wrangler) as well as built out more jeeps than I can count. Loved em and the jeep boys but such a headache I finally just stepped out of that world.

I think the Toyota is an amazing car, but it just doesn’t have that fun factor that Jeep has for me. Maybe I’ve just had insane luck but I’ve never had any reliability problems.
