One piece is actually only 10% filler. You don’t have to worry about that. 99% chance You will enjoy the show and if you don’t it’s ok

10% filler episodes but dog pacing.. there should only be like 700 episodes max where we’re at now

@@10ply44 less than that only around 550 if it had good pacing since most anime animate around 2 chapters

We grew up with dbz and we love it but tbh it's a mess. One piece has a great writing overall, it appeals to a variety of people. Some watch it for the fights, some for the emotional beats it has, and others love the world building and politcal discussions. It's funny, sad, wholesome, and really deep all at once. I hope this adaptation make it justice

never watch a live action to judge a show, one piece manga is a masterpiece

I understand being daunted by the bigness of it all. But it's very good storytelling as has the funniest goofiest things and the most heart wrenching moment in. You'll watch a half hour and it will seem like 10 minutes, and the characters and their relationships are the heart of the show

They got more budget for one piece coz it fueled the manga shonen industry for 2 decades now.

This trailer looks pretty dang good for the budget and what it is.
Some people are really hating on it but this is a really challenging anime to adapt.
I would watch at least to the end of the East Blue arc of the anime to get caught up to where the live action is probably gonna go. At least watch the first 5 episodes or so.
It comes across very goofy but there is a lot more to it once it gets going. I’m leave it there so there is no spoiling.

Seriously and honestly if it looks jank (I don’t think it does) it adds to the goofiness that is ONE PIECE.

I'm getting more excited everytime I watch this trailer... I also watched a video about what's known about the Live Action adaptation... Oda has to approve EVERYTHING about the production, before it gets released.... The main director(i think) or producer, had said that One Piece probably saved his life... and that's how he got the job to direct/produce it....

I understand that a lot of people are hesitant because as anime fans we’ve all been scorned by previous adaptations in the past. I can count the number of good ones on one hand. But there are show runners behind this adaptation (primarily Matt Owens who you can definitely search for on TH-cam talking about it to several people) that have felt that scorn as well and made sure they were involved with his project to help safeguard it against everyone and everything that COULD turn it into another disaster.
The cast are all either previous fans of the show or have picked it up and have fallen in love with it since. The creator himself has written us letters about production and how the studio won’t release anything that doesn’t meet HIS standard about HIS story. And One Piece truly is one of the best stories you’ve never read. It’s so heartwarming and a fun adventure but tackles so many deep, thought provoking, modern subjects that keep it topical and relevant. It’s helped to save and change lives and the creator has said in one of his letters that he feels this is one of the last chances he has to make sure this story reaches a broader audience in a more accessible medium who wouldn’t have experienced it otherwise.
If you enjoyed dragon ball then I think you will definitely enjoy One Piece. Oda has said Toriyama was a big inspiration for him and is a total fanboy. And you never know, if this works out for the better it COULD ultimately lead to a faithful dragon ball adaptation. Comic book movies didn’t work until they did, we just need someone to crack the formula for anime too.

One Piece is a slow burn so you'd have to at least watch the entirety of first saga which is 53 episodes. Thats by the time vegeta is defeated in dbz which is when most got hooked on it so give One Piece a fair chance too. Live action will also adopt all of the first saga.
Here are some quick reasons to watch it:
    1. Insane World Building on the same level as fantasy epic books such as GOT
    2. New insane lore thats still being added to the story even 1000+ch in(the new lore introduced in 1044 was so crazy that it was trending worldwide on Twitter and france news channel had to cover it)
    3. Extremely likeable characters and NO CHARACTER GETS LEFT BEHIND! Oda (the writer) gives time to not just all the main characters but even the irrelevant side characters, this deep into the story.
    4. Three things that make it unrivaled: Creativity, build up and epic moments, unlike you've seen in ANY story
    5. It has anything and everything you can like in a story. Zombies, ghosts, giants, mermaids, robots and adults themes such as mass genocide, homicide, rape, racism, classicism.
    6. EVERYTHING is connected, literally. Every big or somewhat important character you meet has a connection to each other and the world feels alive because of this.
    7. The ending along with majority of the story is already planned out by the writer no fear of making stuff along the way.
    8. You get to see what other characters beside the MC are doing around the world and their choice/motives result in huge world scale events. And oda also doesn't leave old characters behind and makes sure to give them new goals and brings them back into the story naturally.

One Piece is one of the highest selling comics/manga of all time, currently at #2 in the world. Just recently passing Batman. At this rate it will surpass Superman in the next 5 years to be the most sold of all time. You should jump aboard the hype, it's only a once in a lifetime experience to be able to be apart of this while it's still ongoing. Imagine being apart of the fandom once it reaches it's conclusion, with the rest of the world it will be a unforgettable experience as we all learn what One Piece actually is. Instead of starting at Episode 1, try just watching the Special called Episode of East Blue, where you can watch a movie version of the entire East Blue Arc, which is what the live action, 8 episodes will cover. Alternatively try watching One Piece Movie Strong World, or Z and even though there will be spoilers, it will give you a taste of what the show is like.

A lot of people are spoiled with the high quality of current era of animation, and for those people the older 1999 animation is a complete turnoff. Several people I've tried to get into the show refuse to watch it because of it. However the Special and movies I was able to get them to watch and it changed their minds. While you will get spoiled a little, and the pacing of the Special is very off from the original, it still remains the best way to get people into the show for those who are too stubborn with the artstyle.

please watch one piece!!!!! however trust me the third episode rule def doesnt apply to one piece tho... the thing abt it is that the story telling makes the plot get crazier and crazier the more you keep watching, it's honestly mind-blowing how every single detail is so well planned bc you might be watching the goofiest scene ever that turns out to be a major point of the story like 400 eps later. you will def not regret it

The difference between the dbz and one piece live action is that the director for dbz didn’t actually watch the show. But for the one piece live action, the director is a huge one piece fan. And oda is involved in the making of the project. Oda even used his own money for the show, that’s why it has a bigger budget.

If you are interested in manga as well as anime, the manga is a little better than the anime for One Piece. The anime has great Japanese voice actors and sound design and the animation is usually pretty good for it's time and definitely improves as the series goes on. It does have pacing issues at times and akips a few extras from the manga like the chapter cover art and question corner that are quite fun and sometimes relevant to the story.
If you do decide to watch the anime, please watch until at least episode 4, which is the episode that adapts chapter 1 of the manga. If those episodes intrigue you at all, then give the rest of the East Blue saga a look, around 50 episodes. If you aren't engaged by then, the series probably isn't for you. If you are interested, plenty of people watch/read one saga at a time to break the series down into more easily digested sections. Have fun!
