    This OST is a lot of original to the live action (and is awesome), but there is some anime tracks slid in, even in this episode. In the second flashback where Shanks is stitching up Luffy's eye there is a sea shanty in the background with fiddles and piano and stuff that is from the anime. • @marirezende8478
      @marirezende8478 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@KennyandLindsayWatch the manga is better paced than the anime because they had to prolong the anime so it wouldn't be up to date with the manga releases, besides that they're pretty much the same, with some few changes to make it less violent I guess. The live action changed some things, but nothing really *major* (besides one specific thing and it relates to when they let the audience know of something), I think they did nerf Luffy a little though, but it could probably be because of budget (and he's a little less blunt to put it nicely lol). They'll have to up their game though, because for season two they'll have to do some pretty big stuff and they can't have him fighting like the first season if they want to make it good. The East Blue pirates are supposed to be weaker than him in general. And also, a little bit of copaganda which was mostly non appreciated by the manga fans as it's pretty clear the World Government is bad (not saying everyone working there is bad, but the organization itself). Can't say much more without spoiling!

    The original anime music is way better and less "Pirates of the Caribbean" themed , but would overall feel odd in a Live Action . it would serves no purpose beyond tugging the heartstrings of anime fans ... and for that they already got some clever moments when they'll feature a few remix of iconic tunes . They did a great job anyway , especially with the main villain's theme

    There are differences between this and the animé. I have started watching the animé and only about episode 110. There are differences but the characters are true to the animé. The major characters all seem to have a tragic hack story with the exception of Luffy. I think of the live action version of One Piece as more of an alternate universe. The author has made different variations of the One Piece world, with the longest ones being the manga and the live action. Other universes have depictions of yhe main cast as: women in their 40s with perms and Karen attitudes, mobsters, monsters, and even a Dragon Quest style RPG cast.

    The live action condenses about 50 episodes of the series down to tell a cohesive story. It does this very well and the first season is meant to be a gateway into either the anime or the manga. It has been renewed for season 2 though production will take a long time. In the event you decide to watch the anime or read the manga after seeing this show, please start from the beginning as they had to change/remove several key points of character development and information that is needed for the anime/manga to tell the story. If you do watch the anime, do NOT watch the dubbed version as the voice actors are miles behind the subbed, even though you have to read the subtitles.

    The material this first season roughly covers (or would have entirely covered if the episode count hadn't been cut down...) can be compared to a prologue of a book, or the tutorial area of a game. Its aim is to familiarize you with the basics of the world and get the core characters introduced and together. However, don't assume that episodes covered will be boring because I compare it to those things: it is just that One Piece is not just a story focusing on the pirates you are getting to know, but that they are just as much our looking glass into immense scale of the One Piece world and all it has to offer, be it amazingly diverse personalities. logic-defying vistas or outright shocking plot points and twists.

    The anime is good, but it's an insane time investment. If you just want to watch it casually, like you aren't planning on making content of reacting to all the episodes or something, I don't recommend watching the regular anime. It's just too much. There is a very well regarded fan edit of the anime called "One Pace" I recommend instead that cuts out all of the filler and corrects a lot of the pacing issues in the original. It cuts the total runtime of the anime down by like 45%.

    • @KennyandLindsayWatch

    Just gonna be straight-up here. The anime's leagues better. You're watching an adaptation of an adaptation with this Netflix show. You're only cheating yourself by not watching the original/anime first. The only reason I can fathom that people would do this is because they don't want to take the time to watch the original. It's not about the time when you start it, it's about the journey/experience. You'd get to discover that if you started there first. The reputation alone should be enough to sell it to you. You could even do it in parts, if you're worried about the time: watch what's been adapted, watch the Netflix version, and then wait for the next arc to be adapted and watch in a live comparison. That would be an ideal compromise for the best EXPERIENCE, and not just what I'd want to see as a OP fan.
    As it is now, the anime will remind you of the Netflix show, and you'll be comparing backwards, instead of the other way around. You won't know which is honoring what source material, and you likely won't care because you've invested the emotion and time here, instead of there. It's a bummer that folks do this, but it's a bummer for them, not for me.
    The Netflix show has only been accepted because of how impactful the original is. This was done by a completely different/Western crew of people. It's not like you can just sub one for the other... As a diehard OP fan, I couldn't get past Ep. 1 of this adaptation, because it's just so different, and so many things that didn't need to be changed were changed for no reason. People are only saying it's GOOD, because it's better than the other Netflix adaptations that were objectively BAD. That only makes it good by COMPARISON, not objectively good. It's just not crap.
    You're shorting yourselves. People are gonna hate me in this section for this take, but they're gonna be the people who have likely not seen the original, or are newer fans who want OP to be what they want OP to be. That's why they're here to watch it, and not to critique the decision, like I'm doing. It's expected they'll hate me for this. lol But I do this kind of thing for the sake of content creators and their optimal experience/engagement, regardless of how folks take it.
    The OG fans I've come across all agree with me on this one. This Netflix version just feels like a co-opting of a pre-existing fanbase. The original is timeless, and will go down in history as one of the best stories/works in animation. That should be something you'd WANT to experience, ya know? This adaptation will not have the same longevity. It's almost like watching Rings of Power before Lord of the Rings. Just doesn't make sense in any area.

      @Book33 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      anyone can consume fiction the way they want. I used to be anal and I wanted adaptations to be one to one remakes of the original but I do love the different story twists and interpretations. It’d be boring af otherwise.
