They did a great job anyway , especially with the main villain's theme
I never cried as bad with any type of media as I cried reading this manga lol I actually had to stop to gather myself, wash my face and all (and I rarely cry with media).
@@KennyandLindsayWatch the manga is better paced than the anime because they had to prolong the anime so it wouldn't be up to date with the manga releases, besides that they're pretty much the same, with some few changes to make it less violent I guess. The live action changed some things, but nothing really *major* (besides one specific thing and it relates to when they let the audience know of something), I think they did nerf Luffy a little though, but it could probably be because of budget (and he's a little less blunt to put it nicely lol). They'll have to up their game though, because for season two they'll have to do some pretty big stuff and they can't have him fighting like the first season if they want to make it good. The East Blue pirates are supposed to be weaker than him in general. And also, a little bit of copaganda which was mostly non appreciated by the manga fans as it's pretty clear the World Government is bad (not saying everyone working there is bad, but the organization itself). Can't say much more without spoiling!
So far, you don't want to know the differences between the original material and the live action. The most important is: is the adaptation good? Yes. There are many differencies, but it's ok. The most important is preserved. And that comment works up to the last live action episode.
This OST is a lot of original to the live action (and is awesome), but there is some anime tracks slid in, even in this episode. In the second flashback where Shanks is stitching up Luffy's eye there is a sea shanty in the background with fiddles and piano and stuff that is from the anime. And speaking of crying, that song...yeah... Y'all are in for a treat with this series!
I think of the live action version of One Piece as more of an alternate universe. The author has made different variations of the One Piece world, with the longest ones being the manga and the live action. Other universes have depictions of yhe main cast as: women in their 40s with perms and Karen attitudes, mobsters, monsters, and even a Dragon Quest style RPG cast.
There are differences between this and the animé. I have started watching the animé and only about episode 110. There are differences but the characters are true to the animé. The major characters all seem to have a tragic hack story with the exception of Luffy. For interest sake you may want to pay attention to the pirates who are with Shanks, not required, but it does pay at least one dividend.
The live action condenses about 50 episodes of the series down to tell a cohesive story. It does this very well and the first season is meant to be a gateway into either the anime or the manga. It has been renewed for season 2 though production will take a long time. In the event you decide to watch the anime or read the manga after seeing this show, please start from the beginning as they had to change/remove several key points of character development and information that is needed for the anime/manga to tell the story. If you do watch the anime, do NOT watch the dubbed version as the voice actors are miles behind the subbed, even though you have to read the subtitles.
Yeah we have been talking about watching the anime (and Kenny has wanted to for years anyways) if we do it will be from the beginning, and we rarely ever watch any anime dubbed.
The material this first season roughly covers (or would have entirely covered if the episode count hadn't been cut down...) can be compared to a prologue of a book, or the tutorial area of a game. Its aim is to familiarize you with the basics of the world and get the core characters introduced and together. However, don't assume that episodes covered will be boring because I compare it to those things: it is just that One Piece is not just a story focusing on the pirates you are getting to know, but that they are just as much our looking glass into immense scale of the One Piece world and all it has to offer, be it amazingly diverse personalities. logic-defying vistas or outright shocking plot points and twists.
@@KennyandLindsayWatch Once you have finished watching this first season and find yourself curious to see an inkling of what is to come in future seasons, then I recommend checking out the fan-made video 'The Breathtaking World of One Piece' by Strawhat V, which shows the breadth of world (as depicted by the anime) as opposed to focusing on the characters and events, meaning that it is really light on spoilers.
The anime is good, but it's an insane time investment. If you just want to watch it casually, like you aren't planning on making content of reacting to all the episodes or something, I don't recommend watching the regular anime. It's just too much. There is a very well regarded fan edit of the anime called "One Pace" I recommend instead that cuts out all of the filler and corrects a lot of the pacing issues in the original. It cuts the total runtime of the anime down by like 45%.

The problem is that one pace also cuts out all filler animation like some Fight sequences or anime representation that aren't exactly in the manga. Which cuts out important parts for the anime
