Can passengers still get rides in open gondolas ? A lot of heritage RRs make you ride in a enclosed Pullman...I wont even bother if that's the case might as well be riding behind an Amtrak or diesel-electric.
2600 was there to pull the train back up to camp, or if #2 couldn't pull the grade on her own. Due to how recently the engine had been restored, the steam crew was concerned about the engine's bearings overheating on the steep grades found on the SCBG.

Yes they do. Roaring Camp has open cars on every train that does out. Diesel or steam.
