I've been a fan since 1991 when I was 7 because my dad and I grew up in Baltimore. We went to every home game from 91-2003. Also, my dad was a doctor, so we missed Cal Ripkens' record-breaking game because he had an emergency, and I joked about it to him until he died in 2020 because my mom and I went, and she wasn't even a fan, but my ass wasn't missing that game. Anyways. Being an Orioles fan is its own job. That job is being a cardiologist because it has given me nothing but hypertension and panic attacks. Now we've had some good seasons since our last WS in the 80s, but it's been like the Browns for the past 30+ years. I'm happy we're playing well.. but there is a LOT of baseball left this season. And who knows about next season. I've learned never to get overexcited about the Orioles.
It hasn’t been that long since the Os and Rangers were good. 7 years isn’t bad compared to some other teams. It’s great to see though. Their fans deserve it.
There are 30 teams in MLB. So if every team won the WS in turn it would be 30 years between wins. The last time for the O's was 1983 - 40 years The Yankees have won 5 times since then. The Boston red Sox 4 times. The Atlanta Braves twice, the Blue jays twice, the Dodgers twice, the Cardinals twice, the Astros twice. So if the O's win this year they are better than most. They have three more years to say they are better than most. NHL hockey is the most brutal major championship to win. One player can not make a team, even Gretsky, the great one, had to have other star players before he won a cup. Cup winners almost always often repeat, so winning a Cup about every 48 years is to be expected, "a lifetime" not "its about time!" There are 11 teams that have never won since the 1969 expansion , that is a third of the league has not won in those 55 years. You need to love hockey not just winning to be a fan.

2 years ago we were a 100+ loss team. Now we have a real case for the BEST TEAM in the AL and that's without a true Ace starting pitcher. Can't wait for October man
Born and raised in Baltimore. Now living in California since 2007. Still an O’s fan, and glad to see the current success. I go to see them when they come to San Diego and Anaheim. Boy were there some hard years to watch them. Go O’s!!!!
Exactly. We have seen far too many teams try the quick fix approach and not do what is necessary. Yes, rebuilds are painful, but if done properly, the rewards can he spectacular.
Boy it feels great to be an O's fan now after some long and dark seasons in Birdland! And it's even crazier how they keep having the #1 prospect in baseball seemingly every year. This year it's Jackson Holliday's turn. Something tells me Enrique Bradfield Jr. will be the #1 prospect in a few years before he makes his debut!
I do kind of feel bad for the rays because injuries and cold streaks have completely derailed. Are there in season but I am very happy for the Orioles. They deserve it They built their team the right way, and now they’re being rewarded for it.
I like Adley Rutschman but my favorite Baltimore catcher “even though he’s better known as a utility player” is B.J. Surhoff. The 1999 Orioles probably my top 3 line up “on paper”, yeah, we stunk that year, 4th place with only 78 wins but I loved the players we had even though 70% of them was washed up. Lmao, we had Mike Bordick, Will Clark, Jeff Conine, Delino DeShields, Jerry Hariston, Cal Ripken, Brady Anderson, B.J. Surhoff, Albert Bell, Charles Johnson, Scott Erickson, Mike “the Moose” Mussina, Sidney Ponson (was supposed to be our ace when Mussina retired, SMH), we has all star names all over the roster, I remember thinking we was going to crush everyone on our way to the World Series, boy was I wrong but on paper, 1999 roster was magnificent! Damn, I just reminded myself how old I am, I was 27 at the end of 1999 season 😢
I remember the Texas game very well. I was in the hospital watching my best friend take her last breaths. That win made things a fraction better for me. O’s gonna make a run this year though and the future looks bright finally
For the lowest per capita payroll we are so impressed with our O’s! They have grit, tenacity, athletic prowess and doesn’t give up attitude!! Love my O’s!
As a fan I personally see it that this team can only fail from couching (the coaches make a lot of odd decisions but can make really good ones at the same time).
Yeah like last night. Baumann and Cano in but I think its all we got. I was on the phone with a buddy while watching the game and I said if tey put Bautista in he wont be available to pitch tonight but that all we got. I dont know if its odd but I said to him oh they are putting in the guy (Baumann) who gives up crap all the time (all we have) and then Cano (same thing). They did their job but we really need middle relief and maybe one quality starter (Means????). Im loving Bradish and Kremer but I think they above average but not spectacular just sound. I cant even remember why people are waiting for Means to come because I dont remember him. If that tells you something.
@robertmason7553 I think it's more of the pitch calling and batting lineup for me. Like when Mullins was injured we kept DH hicks instead of letting him feild because he is the better feilder than Santander (because of speed). Also we throw down the middle, in the same spot, and the same picth WAY too often. Like our picthers our fine but whoever is calling pitches sucks.
Correction: they have the best record in the American league. The best team in the american league is undoubtedly the houston astros and they are getting hot right on schedule.
When the playoffs start. Baltimore is not better than Houston, Toronto or Minnesota. Texas and Tampa are slightly better too. They will be the sixth best team on paper.
@@alwillk 6th best team on paper. At least thats better than saying they would lose to teams that aren't in the playoff picture like the Yankees, Red Sox or Angels. Keep doubting the Orioles and Baltimore City as a whole. We are going to the World Series and Super Bowl in the same year if we have to die trying.
It’s awesome the O’s are finally strong and getting some shine. First time since 96 we have a legitimate contender with a solid future too. 96 was a great year BUT those guys were all 100 in baseball years. This O’s squad now is here to stay and not that 1 year team 96 was
Great short vid on the come up. It should be mentioned Elias and the scouting dep are pretty much entirely to thank (Mullins was picked up from JUCO, Ryan O'Hearn was a .211 bench bat for the Royals now hitting .310, Urias and Santander were both waiver claims picked up for nothing, etc.) The real problem is ownerships reluctance to build on the core. The only off-season pickups are cheap veterans to fill holes like Kyle Gibson and Adam Frazier. If Elias builds all this just for Angelos not to give him some money to pick up those crucial free agents or international signings, that would really suck
Elias is absolutely amazing with taking a dumpster team and making it a winner. He did the exact same thing with the Houston Astros after they had been in the basement of their division. He was hired as GM to rebuild the team and a few years later he built them into a championship team and they won the World Series. The man is amazing at building a winning team.
Absolute team effort for sure, this is ALL about how they function as a unit and play for each other. When it comes to everyday players and semi-regular players: Not one with a BA starting with a 3, not one with an OBP starting with a 4, not one with a SLG starting with a 5. No one with 30HRs, maybe one or two players with an OPS starting with an 8 (but even then barely). No everyday or regular player reaches a 130 OPS+, with one or two in the 120s. Only one starter with a sub 3.00 ERA, most of the rest well north of 4.00, none of them even close to 200 Ks. No flash or superstar stats, just efficient production of victories.
the AL east has been and will continue to be the best division in baseball for many years. i sometimes wish they would reshuffle the divisions to blance things out, but after seeing these boys overcome this monster division it is so god damn rewarding
Orioles!!! Most of ya’ll won’t believe me but I predicted the O’s to at least be a Wildcard at the Start of the season. The way to win is ya gotta suck to be great. Ever since Mike Elias and Brandon Hyde took over it’s been a wonderful start to a new Era by Compiling great draft picks and great Trades. Just sit back and Watch as my Birds FLY HIGHHHHHHH
The off season should be interesting. Decision time to add a big contract or realize how much the built team is going to cost them. Its never that simple. Still having the problems of how to invest wisely to support a contender for many years is something many teams wish they had.
As a mets fan im very Happy for the orioles. They have a lot of young cheap controllable assets and they're producing. This orioles team is primed to win at least a championship in the near future. Good for them
Baltimore native born in South Baltimore in 1988. Been an O's fan since 1995-96 and I've never seen them win a WS. Closest we got was 2014 in the ALCS. So this year feels awesome! B4LT1M0RE is in the building, baby 💪🏼💯
You should do a video on the Rays. They were on cloud 9 to start the season, but ever since the all star break, they haven't been the same. And now they're really slumping.
I'm happy to see the fans from the other teams in AL East give the Orioles some love. Maybe except the Rays😋. Its amazing that the bottom two teams are almost 10 games and still have a chance in the wild card and maybe the division.
Not enough credit is going to the team and not enough is going to the coaching staff and front office. They have taken so many players other teams gave up on, made small corrections to their mechanics that other teams just never seemed to notice or care about, and then gave those players regular playing time to help engrain those changes long-term. Even with a young guy like Henderson, who struggled early on, they helped him with his stance and his back foot and boom, the guy went from possibly getting sent back down to being one of the best, most reliable hitters on the team.
For those of us who watched them throughout 2016, after that Encarnacion homer to lose the wildcard game, we knew it was over. At the time the farm system wasn't great, guys were aging and there wasn't much offensively outside the core of Machado, Jones, Davis, and Schoop. The analytics department was barren, there was no presence in the international market, and no investments in modern technology to help develop players. That's all changed under Mike Elias and all of us O's fans should be crying tears of joy we got a Front Office who wants to win, and win for a long time. Now sign the lease John you fuck.
I'd argue the moment was actually the following May, when the O's had the best record going into a series with the Nationals. Matt Wieters came back as a National, got revenge and walked it off with a win over Baltimore. it began the downfall.
Their fanbase is getting rewarded they definitely deserve it.

We signed one of the worst contracts in baseball in Chris Davis (and our a part of the Bobby Bonilla contract with the Mets but ours isn't as bad as theirs in comparison, but not great) -
We had Zach Britton go from okay 5 innings starter to dominant closer (and robbed of a Cy young as without him we miss playoffs he loses 1 save opportunity) +
We gave away Jake Arrieta and Pedro Strop at a whim seemingly without trying to help them reach potential -
We have had amazing feilders as our list of gold glovers is immaculate (Chris Davis should have won one imo) +
We lost the world series to the pirates one year with a decent lead (cant remember because i dont want to lol) -
We have the Iron Man record in Cal Ripkin +
We got no hit in our very hitter friendly hitter stadium in 2000 something when we were playing with the (as I like to call them) Retirement All Stars -
We are 1 of the 2 ONLY teams to have 4 picthers win *20* games (like this is never talked about enough) +

As an Orioles fan and a fan of your videos, I've been waiting for you to make this video. Well done, you did a great job laying it all out
2 years ago we were a 100+ loss team.
Go O’s!!!!
The Orioles and the Braves prove that rebuilds are necessary sometimes. See also, Yankees and Mets
O’s fan in Tampa loving it!
We call that home run in Toronto in 2016 the Zac game where for some reason in the 11th he was sitting in the Bullpen.
Been an O's fan my entire life.... no matter how this ends...the ride has been amazing
I do kind of feel bad for the rays because injuries and cold streaks have completely derailed. Are there in season but I am very happy for the Orioles. They deserve it They built their team the right way, and now they’re being rewarded for it.
makes me grin so much its pretty surreal we are in this position
9:00 did u just drop the "😢Kung Fu Panda" Theme 😂
GM Mike Elias needs serious consideration for executive of the year
Those early 2010’s teams were my childhood. This team reminds me of it a lot. Makes an early stage man cry :,)
Our loyalty is being rewarded.
Let's Go O's, Let's Go O's!!! Been waiting a long time for this.
This video is SPOT ON!!! Excellent work, let's go O's
Yanks fan here happy for them
From a red sox fan im actually very happy for the orioles!
1:45 Triggering every Dodgers fan by brushing away the 2020 season. Love it
Good job orioles! Hope us angel fans will get our turn! 😅
franchise is top tier. They rebuilt great
Very happy for them. Their fans deserve some success
Surhoff didn’t catch one game in baltimore.
@@alwillk yes he did, he’s played every position except pitcher in his 18 year career
I'm a long life orioles fan! I'm just glad we don't suck anymore. So proud of these guys
As a orioles fan. I couldn’t tell you how this happened. Except for one thing. Orioles Magic!
That’s my team!
In 2022, dem O's had a 10 game winning streak. It was like the return of the prodigal son. He who was lost, is found.
Go Orioles!
And they still have a lot of amazing prospects in Westburg, Cowser, Kjerstad and Ortiz…
Felix Bautista has a great comeback story!! So awesome to see him work hard and have it pay off!
Even in 2022 when Bautista closed the game, the way he and Adley run to each other, hugging and smiles that will certainly lift ones spirit.
It was the most heartwarming moment in baseball I’ve ever seen
Im so happy to see the O s get some looove lets gooooooo!!
As a Red Sox Fan Im happy for them! Every struggle they went through now is paying off!
when you look at the oroiles rebuild they nailed it white sox take some notes
Im happy for them as a jays fan
As a lifelong orioles fan this season is becoming a fever dream
You can see the energy coming out. Orange flags are creeping out of storage all around the place.
As an orioles fan I have to say great job!!
No mention of the Chris Davis contract 😂
It’s awesome the O’s are finally strong and getting some shine. First time since 96 we have a legitimate contender with a solid future too. 96 was a great year BUT those guys were all 100 in baseball years. This O’s squad now is here to stay and not that 1 year team 96 was
Orioles Magic is back in 2023!
No flash or superstar stats, just efficient production of victories.
the AL east has been and will continue to be the best division in baseball for many years. i sometimes wish they would reshuffle the divisions to blance things out, but after seeing these boys overcome this monster division it is so god damn rewarding
also: WALK INTO YO TROP, TAKE OVER YO TROP
Maybe the Cubs FO can take notes on this 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Great to see for the Os!
Remember Brandon Hyde was with Cubs when they won it all.
Unless something awful happened the Orioles are playoff bound and could be the favored to win the AL
The off season should be interesting. Decision time to add a big contract or realize how much the built team is going to cost them. Its never that simple. Still having the problems of how to invest wisely to support a contender for many years is something many teams wish they had.
I'll pay $15 for a hot dog if it means I don't have to sit through another 30-3 game (yes, I was there).
I've been here for all my life waiting for my team to be good
I really hope they make a World Series push, they deserve it.
You should do a video on the Rays. They were on cloud 9 to start the season, but ever since the all star break, they haven't been the same. And now they're really slumping.
Best divison in baseball can't change my mind. Looking good O's
Sincerely,
A Yankees fan
I'm happy to see the fans from the other teams in AL East give the Orioles some love. Maybe except the Rays😋. Its amazing that the bottom two teams are almost 10 games and still have a chance in the wild card and maybe the division.
I been with my hometown o's forever so we don't have room on the wagon
Thing about the O's is even in there bad years they always been a fun team to watch. And core fan base never gave up
Not enough credit is going to the team and not enough is going to the coaching staff and front office.
Good for them
For those of us who watched them throughout 2016, after that Encarnacion homer to lose the wildcard game, we knew it was over.
Orioles fan since 1960
You do not know how much pain we Orioles fans have went through to get to this point. 😅
In the it’s gonna be worth it tho, World Series within 5 years, I’m calling it
He's not showing Camden Yards during quarantine, that was our true fanbase😂
The O's, the D'Backs, the Reds, the Rangers--it's the year of the underdog. I'm so here for it.
Arizona has fallen off and the NL is awful. Reds have a negative run differential and their pitching is bottom 5 in baseball.
@@alwillk They’re still fun to watch, though.
I'd argue the moment was actually the following May, when the O's had the best record going into a series with the Nationals. Matt Wieters came back as a National, got revenge and walked it off with a win over Baltimore. it began the downfall.
THIS is how you BUILD a DYNASTY!!!!!
As a rays fan this video makes me depressed asf
Many of our fans joked about how bad they were but we knew the potential
Yo. It's been terrible. It's hard to believe. But you don't want no smoke. These boys have fire.
seeing Ubaldo on the mound just gave me PTSD
oh chris davis who had a 47 and 53 home run season wasn't a big part of the offense you say??
As a O's fan since 1997, I can't sleep everynight, because I live in SPAIN😂😂😂
the fact that the 21-2 score was real just shows how far we come. We are now the stat padders 😏
46 year old, lifelong fan, I feel like I'm on a perpetual buzz. It's a rush I can't describe.
the fountain is growing on me
