i disagree i see him broadcasting his pitches very obviously but his cadence is so quick that he doesn't seem to be thinking and hitters haven't really read him just yet
He's the #1 pitcher on a team that will have a rotation with Kershaw, Glasnow and eventually Ohtani. The pressure will be on Roberts to win it all for the foreseeable future.
@@Hehehehhehehehehehehehhe78How was Cole's MLB debut against SF on june 11, 2013?? And were there other pitchers whose debut were superior to Yossy's??

yeah that second inning was fs spectacular. but his location for his fastballs in the first inning were off. im pretty sure the pitch carter hit was meant to be on the outside but he threw it inside for the knock
Watching him pitch yesterday and the announcer were pointing out that it's easy to tell what pitch he's going to throw based on how he holds the ball. You could see if from the centerfield camera. It won't matter much other than if there is a runner on 2nd base who can relay that to the batter. He's going to have to adjust to that or teams will figure out quickly.
If you watched how he pitches when there's a runner on base, he turns his glove sideways so the runner can't see his grip. No way he tips his pitches that easily with a 1.82 ERA over 7 years in Japan.
I personally think hating any one team for being a sensation like the Dodgers are now isn’t warranted. But honestly, I think most people are just annoyed at the MLB propping them up so much at the expense of other teams, which is understandable.
Stuff is stuff. Doesn’t matter if you are in Japan, Korea or the MLB. Find me an example of a starting pitching with three nasty pitches and perfect 80 grade control on the 20/80 scale. There is only Maddux and Pedro that can make that claim in the last 30 years
What I notice is that, some Americans like to smack talk other teams. Insulting every new player they acquired, they did with a lot of Asian players. It is as if they did not grow out of it when they were young kids.
there's a high chance he comes next year, as apparently that's what he wants and what he was promised, plus that's what the Marines seem to have agreed to for him to even play this year, but that's all speculation anyways
Wait. The rangers won the World Series? That’s crazy. The problem I have with these great pitchers, is can the arm handle how hard they throw? The ligaments just break down over a long season.
Calm down. This is the first time these guys are seeing an elite pitcher - his delivery, the movement of his pitches…and it’s spring training. I guarantee he’ll lose at least 1 game this year. Maybe even 2.
Is Yamamoto going to be a Cy Young contender? Yes and rookie of the year. Is he always going to make hitters look this bad? Probably not. It's early spring training and hitters are still in take it easy mode. When it's for real then they won't look so bad.
Ohtani this and Ohtani that. This is the guy I'm excited to see. It's hard to think of someone who I was this excited about. Strassberg? Griffey? Bonds? Probably Strass. Go Mets

Pitchers don't throw the splitter Any more because its injures the elbow. That's why Ohtani got another surgery. Mayamoto won't last of he keeps throwing it. DL too
10 MLB pitchers threw more splitters than Ohtani in 2023. That's nine more pitchers than in 2022 when it was just Kevin Gausman, who has thrown one his whole career. If anything, there's going to be a lot more splitters in the near future.
aw all the little dodgers haters being upset they didnt land this guy. dodger haters got missed by covid. teams never did shit to anyone especially fans
I'm waiting for the Dodgers to become the 2023 Mets, maybe they wont flop that hard but still this may be the biggest World Series or bust season we have ever seen.
None of those splitters would even be strikes if the batters didn't swing. I know it's easier said than done, but lay off that pitch with two strikes. It is NOT a strike, let it go and make him throw you an actual strike next time.
You don’t think he knows? When he knows that you know , 0-2 count - fastball right down the middle. Baseball is like a chess game. It’s all about adjustment.
Yeah no shit, it’s called a chase swing. Obviously the pitcher will adjust just how the batter adjusts. Just as the batter can decide to not swing on an 0-2 count the pitcher can decide to throw a strike on an 0-2 count.
There is a reason why maybe 5 teams were willing to give him a 300 million plus contract. The guy has god given talent, young age , and a great easy going personality. Hes probably equivalent to a young smoking hot model that plays sports and cooks and clean and is only loyal to 1 guy. Hahaha 😅
I'm a Giants fan and I'll admit....when the Dodgers signed Ohtani AND Yamamoto my soul got crushed.
Jung Ho Lee looks like he will be good so far

Lol why? The Dodgers franchise is doomed
Japan is producing some incredible talent these days
These days???? Ichiro, Matsui , Nomo, guys were playing 30, 20 years ago.
They won the WBC for a reason. Many players just don’t come to the MLB until late in their careers
They treat baseball as an art. It’s beautiful to see.
Japan won WBC 3 times already. America 1 time.

*"He's Already Horrifying"* NGL with that title I thought this would be about Alek Manoah's spring opener.
What's concerning is how fast his pitching goes. Very fast release of ball, all looking the same delivery.
Exactly what I was thinking when I first saw some of his pitching, terrifying.
Very little difference but such a Big difference in locations and speed. Absolutely nuts
