I'm one of 2 bass clarinetists in my school. Our band is about 120 people with JH and HS combined. I believe the other bass clarinetist will have graduated by the time I'm in highschool, sadly (I'm in 7th grade).
I am the only one out of our like 300 people band class that plays bass because the other kid with me moved schools and his was school borrowed while mines was bought personally
We have to Bass clarinets in our high school band and they sound AMAZING! The musicians playing them have, quite often, the best parts in some of the music we rehearse.

I am in 10th grade in high school and I have been in band for 4 years now and 2 (almost 3) I have played bass clarinet. it is a wonderful instrument and this piece is amazing.
I’m a tubist who’s starting as a freshman in august, and I am really tempted to do both Bass clarinet and tuba, just because I love the bass clarinet sound so much. It has a hollow and distinct sound that not many other instruments have. The only other one that comes to mind is contrabassoon. This solo is only pushing my choice to do duel specialty’s.
I find the bass clarinet a fun instrument. Pretty easy to pick and learn. Just not enough of music I see and really a whole lot of artist. Hope to see more people play it.
This performance got me into playing my clarinet about 8 years ago. It’s been about 6 years since I lost touched it, but I think it may be time to bring her out of retirement. I miss being one with the music

Watching this makes me want to get back into playing. I originally went to college three years ago for instrumental music education with a minor in performance (bass clarinet was my main). Videos like this make me regret not continuing my schooling, but life happens 🤷🏼♀️

I played bass clarinet in HS and I would always come watch this video more so to watch his breathing technique but to this day it’s so awesome to watch! I love it!!
2:30 has always been my favorite part of any music ever!!! I love it so much, I put a little bit of that in my recent composition as I'm just starting. hopefully I will play this piece at my spring recital :)

@Intime Intime It wasn't that easy when I was in HS. We only had two BC and due to the long delicate keys, they were always in repair.
Quite the opposite for lower level band, I think. I often get thrown whatever part the trombones are playing lol
