As someone who plays bass clarinet, ooooooohhhh my! The high notes are so beautiful and well played! Sadly I'm always given a older bass and some just don't sound as good as they use to so playing high notes is a challenge. But hearing them sounds so pleasing
Back when I played bass clarinet in high school in the late 1990s, I was always jealous of bass clarinet students at other schools who had newer, high-end bass clarinets to play with range to low-C and the double register vent, as I only ever got to play on old Noblets at best, which only went down to Eb and only had the single register vent, making high notes very difficult. And my school was huge! Unfortunately, the football program always got way more funding!
Hello @Serenalok! Because this piece was written over a century ago, it is now public domain, and you can find legal free copies of the sheet music online. This arrangement was actually arranged for "Piano and Violin or Flute" and was played on Harp and Bass Clarinet! You can download it for free here: violinsheetmusic.org/classical/work/saint-saens-the-swan/ :) Enjoy!
Honestly, until I started getting into jazz I didn't even know you could do vibrato on clarinet. Now I know how to do it in theory, but in practice it's a little difficult to learn 😅.
@@dfabulous hahahah I’m a (classical) saxophonist and we do a lot of vibrato. First time I picked up a clarinet I could only play three notes but I could do vibrato😂
bass clarinet needs a lot of control in diaphragm. Even more than a clarinet which is the 2nd place kind of diaphragm control (double reed instruments rule 1st place). Kinda hard to nail those vibrato without sounding like a honking goose.
there are many reasons for it. in a secondary setting, clarinet frequency waves are square, which hides intonation issues between flute and saxophone vibrato. it allows for a balanced more in tune vibrato for the other woodwind sections.
As someone whose played this instrument since 6th grade, I can say that you have absolutely amazing control and tone quality. That's difficult to achieve with bass clarinet nice job 👍 👏

Gran interpretación, bonito sonido , perfecta afinación, gran ejecución, muy bien. Lo más complicado es aguantar tanta respiración en un tempo tan tranquilo, necesita administrar muy bien el aire.
Very well performed (as far as a reed instrument ignorant can understand), and a transcription that really works. The harp does a better work for this piece than the piano, the bass clarinet is a good replacement for the cello.
this is beautiful. Although I personally always find it very offputting when the musician is beating their foot in a random time that doesn't match the music, in fact I'm not sure how he does that. But it is nonetheless totally beautiful, such control

Belle prestation, en tant que clarinette basse professionnel, je pense que le vibrato n'est pas nécessaire pour cet instrument, la richesse de son timbre suffit largement.
That is the best tone I've ever heard on a bass clarinet. The high register sounds like a standard clarinet!
Fantastic sound and breath control!!!
As a bass clarinet girl who still dreams of the harp, this is gold...
as a harp girl who still dreams of the clarinet, i feel the same way
Considering the fact that the bass clarinet is shaped very much like a swan, this is perfect!
that control man, so smooth

Gorgeous. I've never heard such beautiful bass clarinet playing.
There are many arrangements for this piece, but you cannot deny the quality of the playing is exquisite
that bass clarinet tone is muah, chefs kiss. its so deep and warm and rich and nourishing. idk how better it could get
Top notch bass clarinetting
Wow this is amazing. I just finished writing a cello and Bass Clarinet duet and was looking to see what other videos there are for the bass clarinet!
beautiful!
such a wonderful vibrato and sound!. I'm a brass player but I really want to go into reed instruments, they're just so pretty.
Great job..... Love bass clarinet and. Harp. !!!!!...
Beautiful tone and stunning dynamics, sounds absolutely gorgeous, makes me miss my playing days with this instrument.
Absolutely wonderful. Seemless transitions on the bass and perfect arpeggios on the harp.
the dynamics and the smoothness of the clarinet work so well with the harp. so amazing:)
Les oreilles et le cœur ne s'y trompent pas, c'est magnifique 👏🎶💓🎶

Wow I love vibrato on clarinet why don’t most clarinetists do it? Like what’s the problem with vibrato on clarinet?

Bonjour, il faut ajouter un "e" à "Harp" puisque le titre est en français (bon d'accord c'est du chipotage)
Au fond, on peut en conclure que la clarinette-basse est aux vents ce que le violoncelle est aux cordes 🤔
