I realize I'm old but I like the analog gauges. It also makes me extremely happy that I can get a base model with 16 inch wheels ! Anything of larger diameter is purely a fashion statement that reduces durability, reduces ride comfort, reduces mpg and increase the coast of replacement tires. I would buy a Corolla hybrid for the price, reliability, reliability, reliability and mpg. I think this is the bang for the buck winner in my book!
The rear seats fold down just like all other Corolla's. There's a release button next to the head rest for each folding side. The return to "analog" style gauges was a marketing choice based on customer feedback. The old style gauge are easier to read and understand. The previous year's dashboard was a lot of eye candy but ultimately harder for most to interpret.
Thanks for going to so much detail of this 2023 model! Great video! Great Channel! The back seat looks can do 40/60-split folding, there could be a ring or rope hidden somewhere
Thank you for watching! I agree the backseats looked like they would fold, and it is possible that I missed it, but I reviewed a 2022 Corolla Hybrid and I had no trouble folding down those seats so I dunno
My dad owns a 2021 corolla le with convenience package, there is a little button behind the seat that if you push down will fold down the rear seats Edit: it’s actually next to the headrests, one next to the left one and one next to the right one I also own a corolla (just bought one as my first car) so i know very well

It's seems like toyota in the US has expanded the corrola range by offering a bargain basement version ie the one you're driving as the price for this model is so cheap so you should expect low spec gauges , in the UK they have increased the price so the base model is in excess of £ 30000 and mid spec is £35000 but you get full digital gauge clusters and lots of kit
I've got the 2024 (exactly the same as 23) model and besides it says 46 mpg in highway, I actually average 52 mpg going 65-75 miles per hour, so its not that bad
So there is an XSE Hybrid Corolla? What Country are You in? Cuz I'm in the US, and on the website they only offer the LE, SE, SE Infrared, and XLE. I would Love the XSE for my Daughter.
I am in the USA. For the 2023 Model Year, Toyota offers the Corolla Hybrid in LE, XLE, and SE models only. The LE and XLE are front wheel drive, the SE model is All Wheel Drive only
One problem with my 2023 Corolla hybrid is the fancy headlights. In the center area directly in front of you are two shadows that stick down into the lit part. The first time I drove the car at night while turning, it literally looked like an animal running across the street directly in front of the car. I jammed on my brakes so I would not hit it. Only to realize it was a defect in the headlight array. My dealer said to me that the lights are not adjustable so just get used to it. Maybe they will fix it in the future. The real problem will be the day an actual animal is running across my path and I ignore it and hit it. This is a real safety problem with this headlight design and get used to it is not a proper response.
I know exactly what you’re talking about, that’s called a “cold spot” in headlight parlance and pretty much every new Toyota has it. I’m driving a 2023 RAV4 Hybrid right now and it has it too. Toyota is not the only automaker that has this, frankly most modern LED headlights have a cold spot, but it does seem to be more noticeable on Toyotas
@@CarDietrich Dietrich, thanks for that info. I just do not understand how they design the lights knowing the illumination is not even. My other pet peeve with this car is that the speedometer goes to 160 MPH… It is a Corolla hybrid, for crying out loud. Thought my Subi was a joke going to 140… Oh well, I guess I will do what the dealer said and just get used to the idiosyncrasies of my new car… After all, I waited half a year for it…
I have the same car. There is a fold down toggle towards the middle seats on top. and yes they go all the way down, so I can stick my 10 ft fishing rods in! Interestingly enough, no blind spot monitoring for me, and a key insert for ignition.
Thanks for the info! They must have moved it from the 2022 model because I had no trouble finding it on that car. It sounds like your car is missing the LE Convenience Package option, which this one had
How wide is the opening between the seats and the trunk area? I have an older model Corolla and it's only 33 inches wide. Unfortunately, it blocks things that I could otherwise have easily been able to fit in my car. Can you measure the opening on yours? Thanks.
Great review! I loved the detail and I loved that you measured the trunk dimensions. Thank you! Small gripe with the industry: The way that SAE cargo space is measured for vehicles is very misleading because the standards are different between traditional sedans with a traditional trunk and hatchbacks, cross-overs, SUVs. A perfect example is the Corolla Hatchback on paper has much more cargo space than the sedan, but in practice - far less than the sedan.
I really like 2023 Toyota Corolla I drive a 2022 hybrid but they really made the 2023 Toyota Corolla special with the AWD and a sports trim in a hybrid
That is a pretty noticeable step down with the instrument cluster vs. last year. Looks kind of about the same quality of a 2010 Lancer I had.😄 That said, at least they lowered the price quite a bit.
@@jeffmorse645 My point is that Toyota is always focused on money and making a profit. If they lower the price, they will definitely remove features so they still make a profit.
The removed features which is why they lowered the price. 2020-2022 Corolla Hybrid LE came with 15" alloy wheels (no hub caps), had a much more attractive front bumper mesh design. There may have been other features. The 2023 Hybrid LE comes with 16" steel wheels with hub caps, no BSM, and an IMO uglier front bumper design. You can get alloy wheels, BSM, and a better looking front bumper design by paying more money. So yes, price lowered, but features were removed.
Looks cheap & low budget looking, even more so than its price tag would indicate. Both Toyota & Honda today are shadows of the companies that they used to be, so good luck on build-quality & reliability. My 2020 model year Toyota experience was problematic to put it nicely.

I give you marks for the inside trunk measurements but the assuming a split seat isn't foldable really blows your credibility. Try the manual.
