Is basically same as the car thing….is pretty much to save the insurance Company when you do a claim, they go and check the ting sensor and if the sensor detected a issue wherever you fixed or not they deny the claim based on the ting sensor. Is a win-Win for the Insuranse company

Well, when you put it like that, I've made up my mine to pass on this offer.

Just got a Ting letter from St Farm. Loving that you made this video. I agree with you on being skeptical but like the idea of this.

I am just wondering if I get this, install it and it notices an issue that I do not repair can or will they drop me or deny any future claims?

We just enrolled for ours, so I’ve been reading through all of the fine print. It doesn’t say State Farm can’t deny a claim, but there’s a reasonable question there. So you’re aware you basically have a bomb in the house but do nothing..? Not sure. I’d ask the agent. The one thing the fine print did say is that Ting can choose to revoke your coverage. If they detect an issue, that’s confirmed by a licensed electrician, and you choose to not fix it.

I would guarantee that State Farm would deny your claim in that instance.

I’m thinking same thing about State Farm, but wouldn’t you want to know if you have a problem so you can have it fixed?

I went ahead and got it and plugged it in and so far so good. I get weekly reports showing no issues and then they ask after a while if you can move it to a new location on in different part of the house to check that area as well...

I noticed that Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe's, Walmart etc... do not sell this product. Nobody but Ting sells it. If it's such a great idea, you would think that all these other sources that sell similar items would have Ting available! Strange....

How about a referral kickback to Ting for every licensed electrician evaluation?
Of course, I’m sure there are zero false positive notifications.

Follow Up to my comment from a few minutes ago, on checking with my LOCAL STATE FARM AGENT, who informed me that STATE FARM is not affiliated or getting feedback information from these devices offered (FREE) from them by TING. They DO NOT RECEIVE ANY DATA from these devices. These are not like the devices installed under the dash in autos (for insurance premium savings) (State Farm has the program, I think, called Drive and Save). Those devices DO monitor your driving, and on review ONLY affect whether you can continue getting the 'Drive and Save' discounts or not. Not used in accidents or police information per what they told me. So take that for what it is worth. Again, this is not an endorsement for State Farm, Ting or any affiliated companies. I'm just a consumer, homeowner, and happen have State Farm Insurance, who sent me notice about the FREE TING device.
PS: even the office manager (young lady) had installed the TING device in her home, in a few minutes, set up the app, and that's it. She is not technical and doesn't monitor all the tech notices on the app, other than checking to see operation and other than that had no issue installing.,, All above FYI, and IMO comments.

My question is what happens if I decide I don't want to use the ting anymore and unplug it? All the data goes to State Farm as well as to my smart phone.

If the power goes out and I use my portable generator, will it affect the diagnostic?
