    I know the struggle of having partners and family members who don't care for your Kombucha hobby. But hey! More for us!

    I'll have to try these again. I let them dry in the greenhouse (i just use an old window screen and sun dry a lot of different things) and a critter ate them all!

      Oh boy. Haha. I wonder what type of critter it was. A squirrel?

    HOLY COW! You are a wealth of kombucha knowledge lol. This is the first time I've ever heard of this. I know you said a scoby is reusable, I wondered if there is a reason you would ever get rid of one ? Wow 4 kids!! How do you even have time to make videos lmao? I made some compot today and should be ready in 2 days. My scoby is in the mail...can't wait !!

    • @KombuchaLiz
      @KombuchaLiz  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've thrown them out just because I had so many. But they have tons of uses. Right now I'm working on q video for SCOBY mask. They are great for thr skin. I hear that compost love Scoby's too. Good for you on that. I've been wanting to start compost for a couple years now.

    Hi Liz! I'm enjoying watching your videos-the early ones are very cute! Question: do you know whether the dehydrated scobies will retain the probiotics in them or does the process wipe that out with the heat? Thanks, keep up the great videos :-)

    • @KombuchaLiz
      @KombuchaLiz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hello❤ that is a great question. I've never tested it out but I read someone else they took a piece of SCOBY candy and put it in sweetened tea and a small SCOBY for within a couple days. Next time I make the candy I will test it myself. Based on that I believe the candy will have some of its original probiotics. I hope that helps.

    • @messyhomestead7320
      @messyhomestead7320 ปีที่แล้ว

      To keep the probiotics active you'll need to keep them raw, which would start to kill off around 105F just like in your body. Dehydrate on lowest setting :)

    • @sonali1997
      @sonali1997 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KombuchaLiz Did you test it then? How did it go?

  • @frehdom9783
    @frehdom9783 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    What temperature setting did you use for the dehydrator and for how long did you leave them there for?

    • @KombuchaLiz
      @KombuchaLiz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello. You can use either setting. I believe I used medium for around 8 hours. But keep checking it as you go since all dehydrator are different

    • @frehdom9783
      @frehdom9783 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, I have made my first batch, did take around 8 hours on 55C Used mulled punch as an additive with a bit of coconut sugar, came out amazing and so much flavour after every bite =)

    Any way to do this without a dehydrator?

    • @KombuchaLiz
      @KombuchaLiz  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Amelia. You can use an oven instead of a dehydrator. Turn the over on to the lowest setting, put the scoby candy on parchment paper and bake for 6-8 hours. The thicker the candy is the longer it will take. Please let me know how it turns out.
