I really was fumbling with the operation of the signal gen on this Chinese scope I have. It turned out it had a bad part and when replaced, the waveform was solid and usable. Should be now able to calculate pulses-per-mile and check the accuracy of the gauge. Thanks for watching!
I had thought I mentioned it in the video, but I see maybe I didn't. Those are a smaller 8" Irwin branded channel locks. I love these as they don't reset and lock into where you set them. I put some green "duck tape" on the teeth, about 3 layers and it lasted until I was done. It really crimped well for what I was using, lots of squishy glue on that tape.

Genius idea on the staples! What tool did you use for the crimping and flattening of the bezel? Looks to have a gentle rubber grip.
