  • In this episode of TFBTV, ‪@JamesReeves‬ is at IWA 2023 talking with Polish AK manufacturer, WBP, manufacturers of the famous WBP Jack. WBP has something quite clever up their sleeves for 2023, and that's the introduction of the (tentatively) WBP "AK-AR", an AK that accepts AR magazines. There are a number of brilliant features included, so be sure to watch the whole video.

    The bolt hold open is really cool. The magwell isn't really anything new, I've had a Zastava M85NP for over a decade. I do like that the WBP magwell is aluminum, the one on my Zastava is polymer.

    • @DillIshOn
      @DillIshOn ปีที่แล้ว +12

      when i found out about the M85NP it was too late. It was no longer in production and it was hard finding one. This looks promising. Id pick this up as long as QC is good and its reliable.

      @@DillIshOn To be honest, as far as QC & Build quality Zastava has had more QC issues pop up in the past 2 years than WBP in probably it's entire 6-7 years in the U.S.

      Zastavas are well made guns, especially for the $1,000ish price point you get a 1.5MM receiver, Cold hammer forged chrome lined barrel, but they mass-produce & it shows

    • @partyalldaypartyallnight1057
      @partyalldaypartyallnight1057 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its not. Adapters exist. Seen steel, aluminum, polymer and even people gutting ar lowers at the mill to turn into magwell for nato k. Some snap in. Others rivit or bolt in and are pinned through the original mag release.
      All nato k can ar15 mag. Ive even seen people add lugs to ar mags and rock those in like ak mags.
      Aks are super fun to modify. Imagination and workmanship can do anything.

      My thoughts exactly. When there’s already solid 223 AK offerings… all you’re really getting here is the AR mag compatibility and last round bolt hold open. Both of which are great to see, and I’d love to have, but… probably not worth the added cost for most people. It definitely wouldn’t be for me.
      Still, it doesn’t sound like the price is finalized, so we’ll see what they come in at.

    • @jeffersondaviszombie2734
      @jeffersondaviszombie2734 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah! Exactly! Why the hell did they spend hundreds of hours of engineering on this? To modify the bolt and bolt carrier and make them nonstandard? That's up there in the top stupidest things they could have done. Such a gun would be brilliant if it keeps a standard AK bolt carrier and a standard 5.56 AK bolt. But, then again, we're talking about WBP here, who even for their "standard" AKMs have a weird bolt stem somewhere in between the AKM and the AK-74, making both the bolt and the bolt carrier proprietary. They're not very smart.

    This is super cool, but why would someone pay more for this than a Galil Ace? The Galil has a top of the class machined receiver with a ton of specialized components: railed top cover and full length railed handguard, ambi safety, the best folding stock mechanizm on the market, left side charging handle and reciprocating dust cover, that also has a true bolt hold open build into it.
    This is a stamped AK with a small piece of aluminum bolted on and likely some kind of notch cut into the bolt. I get WBP is a smaller outfit, which is why their prices are a little higher as is. And this takes money and time to design and develop. But if it’s $500-$600 more for just that little adapter, that’s craziness. You’re better off grabbing the standard 5.56, & 3 FB and 4 (10) mags, and save $250-$350.

    Next up, a AR-15 that takes standard AK47 rock in magazines, followed by a AK that uses AR-15 drop in triggers and direct impingement lol, because why a AR-15 when you can bastardize a AK lol. Seriously, good on them for pulling it off, course unless you have a AR-15 already and a bunch of AR mags, and this is your first AK, don’t really see a point.
