I often experience feelings of anxiety before arriving at work. Pretty much every day for the last two years I've listened to this once before getting out of the car, and each time I hear these lyrics and the melody, my whole nervous system relaxes and I show up to my crew full of hope and positivity. Thank you Johnny.
@@HEATSEEKER00 I'm not weak, everyone experiences anxiety, Mike Tyson, Jon jones etc... they've openly admitted it. You've obviously lived an easy life up to now but it will get harder. p.s. I'd tell you to your face your a bell end.
Michael Adair - Seriously, I actually started crying involuntarily first time I heard this song, totally caught me off guard, I'm not a weepy guy, but Marr's playing is that rare blend of Heart and technical skill that really can't be faked or imitated, nobody I can think of even comes close these days, not even Dave Navarro.
Connor Hutcheon, as you may know all too well, Johnny Marr credits Jansch as his single most major influence. He is extremely talented as well. Long live Johnny Marr. He’ll save rock n’ roll.
yall should listen to his son Nile. Sounds just like Johnny (guitar wise). Man Made is his band. He also has stuff under Nile Marr. It's real good too!
The sound from this studio is amazing - so clear that you can pick out each instrument and vocal. Kudos to the sound crew! The instrumental section at 4:00 is sublime!
same Nathan. its become a go to feel good song. he is unfazed as the lights go out, laughs. the man is just cool. we know in retrospect just HOW cool he is. the man is a gtr Wizard. no one like him..
Absolutely love the song and the performance! Only Johnny Marr could pull off that awesome jangly rhythm and then bust out a solo with a behind the nut bend. What a tasteful player!!!
Flipper I think the comparison still stands, in that Marr made about as much of an impact on indie/alternative music in the 80s and Jimmy Page did on heavy rock music in the 70s. It's not so much a direct comparison to Page, more about how influential Marr is.
@@PantheonLincoln ?? Don't get it. Page hasn't play live since 2008 and doesn't seem to do anything, but remaster led zeppelin -maybe he's retired unofficially. Johnny is always busy moving forward with is solo career, creating new music, or as a guitar for hire etc.
Morrissey got the headlines, but we know who the force behind the window dressing, don't we? Some of Marr's best, thanks for posting. Amongst my all-time faves
This has to be the best version live of this song . The sound quality is amazing everything sounds alive you can here each instrument very clearly also this is the best vocally I’ve herd him sing this song . Outstanding ✊
I definitely recommend it. I'm taking forever to read it because I'm taking notes about all the things I want to look up eventually...I'm up to 20 pages and just reached this section today.

keyserdurden - My wife went out of town for the weekend, I was actually up all night listening to Marr in my headphones, realized that I would actually had probably chosen this over sex tonight even if she'd still been home (and that's no shot at my wife, I couldn't want a better woman, zero complaints after almost 25 years, she still steals my heart every time I see her face!), seriously on another level. I remember a few times playing, when I was younger and did little else, when the world seemed to dissolve away and my guitar seemed to sing on its own, almost as if it colluded with my Soul to take over my fingers, a feeling beyond merely physical bliss...listening to Marr brings that same feeling back, a beautiful melancholy that can't be put into words. I'm going to light a candle for him and give special thanks to God for giving the world Johnny Marr and his music the next time I pray!

that moment at 4:27, when Johnny starts singing that "hello you mystery, mission velocity" part is absolutely amazing, sounds like an hommage to Morrissey. :)
+Gleb Alexeev I wonder if Morrissey has heard this song and thought the same? If this is an "homage" to Moz, then he crafted a beautifully written one...Morrissey should be impressed.

GenevaRob72 - I still cherish my "Electronic" CD's, not as Smith-y as I really wanted, but still embedded into my psyche. This is as close to a New Smiths as we'll get, but it's so damn good I hardly miss Moz.
I heard this song early last year in Fazoli's Italian restaurant over their music system. Had to find it after that. Luckily, I could make out some lyrics...enough to Google it. This is an excellent version of it. It makes me think of the 80s.

Nobody crafts rolling guitar melodies like Johnny Fucking Marr. This is so good it hurts..

I think the only person I've heard that has a similar rollin technique is bert jansch. You can hear the influence definitely
Agreed. Nobody, does it better than Johnny Marr.
Connor Hutcheon, as you may know all too well, Johnny Marr credits Jansch as his single most major influence. He is extremely talented as well. Long live Johnny Marr. He’ll save rock n’ roll.

I much prefer this live. The guitar melodies are clearer and his vocals sound more raw and original. Beautiful.
Yess! This version is better than the studio track IMO.
Totally agree.
Agreed!
An absolute classic, can't understand why more people haven't viewed it
His guitar tone is futuristic and retro, at the same time. Incredible. So relaxed, and joyful, one of the coolest people on the planet.
wish I'd wrote that.

Got to meet and talk with him for 15 minutes and he is exactly as cool as you’d imagine. Truly a living legend who has influenced so many
Beautiful wonderful song. Give us more, Johnny Marr!
his most Smiths-like track. Simply genius.
Johnny's reaction once the lights go back on is about as sweet as it gets...
+GenevaRob72 great sense of humor
He doesn't skip a beat either...so smooth..
not much reaction there really.. lol
maybe if we turn off the lights he will make a mistake... never!

My favorite song during lockdown. It flows so brilliantly.
How have I never heard this song before?! Big fan of Marr but only listen to the Smiths.. This song is just as good as their old hits imo.

Gorgeous melody line in this song, as strong as anything he did before.
He has really hit form with his latest album. Embracing the old smiths and electronic sound as an influence and then creating something new.

"Leave school for poetry" has to be one of the most meaningful lyric lines in all of music.
mershark what does it mean?
Johnny explains it in his book Set the Boy Free - it was about leaving school to become a musician.

Greatest Marr track since The Smiths and it equals his work there. Adore it.
I like this melody, johnny Matt is my favorite guitarist,my guitar hero

The emotion in his riffs/melodies is indescribable. Tears. Just saw him in a small venue and he had 1000 people hanging on every chord.
