New Town Velocity - The Video:
Shot around various buildings and areas of Greater Manchester, the video is based on the Psychogeography philosophy of the Situationist Movement.
The song is taken from the critically acclaimed album The Messenger and was inspired by Marr's own story of the day he left school aged fifteen to pursue a life as a musician and features him in the council estate of Wythenshawe where he grew up.
It was directed by David Barnes who directed the Upstarts video and art directed by Subset.

Johnny is carving out quite the solo career! Stunning melodies and beautiful, chiming guitars that combine with atmospheric synthesizers and Johnny's surprising, sturdy vocals.....guy can do no wrong-has a gift for creating majestic tunes that soar above the madness and monotony!
What's another one or two you'd recommend?
Saw him last year as an opening act for The Killers. I would've paid just as much to see him. 4
Not a lot of people know this, but, it has always been Mr. Marr's job to sort things out. Seriously. Check it out. If it wasn't for him, The Smiths would not have lasted five months, let alone the five years they did.
Anyhow. Here is Mr. Marr soothing the souls of old fans of The Smiths - who really ought to know better because - Morrissey's always been like that. Always. Anybody claiming otherwise just did not have their eyes open fully.
Nevermind. Doesn't mean you cannot enjoy The Smiths any longer because, that is just ridiculous. I have all the LP's. What difference does it make (smirk) whether I play them or not? Exactly.
One of his best solo works IMO. VERY good feel and tune, his vocal performance hit the spot too on this one.

I've been dressing like this since 1964. I still have suede Beatle boots in a box only wear them once in awhile. I read some where tons of years ago George Harrison used to turn all his pants into skinny pants using his moms sew machine. I had one friend that did the same for me now we can buy the look anywhere just DON'T eat to much or drink to damn much beer.

I think this is the best song on the album. The guitar work is so crisp and clean, as always, his vocals are effortless (which isn't always the case), and the lyrics are above average as well. And the video is quite good! Congrats Johnny!
