      Yeah I've got a whole rack system that is "techincal pro" and "pro studio" branded and cost over 3 grand at rent-a-center claiming to be 2,500watts and currently has four 15 and four 12in speakers hooked up to it and while I know it isn't anywhere near 2.5k watts she definitely does dim the lights when it powers on and is cranked up to just under distortion lol

    What I have learned from watching all these amp test vids is the fuse rating times 10 minus a little is almost always in the ball park of the amp will do. (12v amps)

    I'd love to see a Thomann's own brand budget amp on this channel. Their E-Series amps are awesome for pushing power on the cheap. The E1200 and E1500 models are 115v switchable so either one of those could be tested. Supposedly, you are able to crank out 2x800w at 8 ohm and 2x1200w at 4 ohm for the E1200. They certainly push high power and it would be nice to see some actually decent budget amps being tested.

  • @MrShawnRichardson
    @MrShawnRichardson 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yep I was afraid of that. I bought 3 of them back in 2016 for a home theater set up.
    I discovered real fast something wasn’t right with them. I found out that any speaker with a 10” driver or smaller. They would play real well and clean. But I have a pair of towers that have dual 15” drivers in each. They would play the midrange and tweet but did not have enough oomph to get the drivers moving. So I tried a 10” doc sub woofer in a ported box. Subwoofer barely moved. In fact the only way you could hear the bass was to stick your ear against the port.
    So if you speakers are 10” or less full range only. Then you could get buy. If you running studio speakers in a home recording studio. They will work fine. If you want to rock out a nightclub. That will be a no go. You will have no customer. To spend money while they dance 🕺 lol 😂.

    There are plenty of higher quality options in that true power range for under $200. A quick look at Crutchfield will provide a couple. I run a Niles SI 245 for the bookshelf speakers in my garage and it does 45 watts per channel into 8 ohms while being cleaner and slimmer. I paid $40 for mine and they are plenty on ebay for under $100. Keep up the variety Big D 👍

    This is EXACTLY why I bought my crown XLi amplifiers. They are super powerful, under rated, over performing pro amps, and with mega dynamic power in reserve, your dyno proves that!
    XLi 3500 powering 2 parts express UM18-22's and another XLi 1500 powering 2 JBL GTI 1500 old school subs. My house foundation is in danger, lol!

    Do a crown xli 3500 It weighs 50 lb and puts out 2,700 watts at 8 ohms. Or maybe peavey ipr2 7500. Claiming to put out 47500 watt at 2ohm. That would be interesting. Myself I chose the crown over the peavey.

      @@wal If your home/shop has sufficient power you can use a 60Hz test tone and hook a bunch of toaster ovens up to the output for ballast. A new rating of toaster ovens per channel is thus achieved! 😀 Funny story with 60Hz sine tones, many years ago I used my HiFonics Zeus Series 7 to power a circular saw and was able to cut studs as easily as if I had a generator. Even used TECHMASTER PEB "bassgasm" as a source. Lots of notes below 60Hz and the saw's motor brushes didn't like that too much and the amp went into protect a few times but no harm done. My side hurt from laughing so hard that day and the day after!

    I bought a Rockville RPA9 for an additional amp to run a subwoofer. My primary amp is a Mitsubishi MVR1000 running a couple of RTR Towers with 15s. The line signal was too weak so I bought a Bellari PA550 pre amp for the Rockville. It's working good and bumping my 15 inch NVX subwoofer in a homemade 2.6 cu ft slot ported box.

      The RMX series have linear power supplies and weigh a ton! The powerlites are SMPS, super lightweight but not on power! A powerlite9 will dim the lights on the block providing it doesn't trip your main breaker first! ;-) Both will deliver rated power seven days a week for years.

I have a boss 1500 watt monoblock amp pushing two rockford fosgate r1s4 that are 10s and i think in a ported box. I've got pretty good bump with what I have just wondering if I need to tweak anything.

    The eBay site you showed had 250 units sold. I wonder how many got returned. It didn’t sound bad on the elacs but it doesn’t even push the 100w you get on a cheap av receiver you get for the same price. I actually thought it would push around 150 max but I didn’t expecting to be 50 watts per channnel.
