Making the burst shots into short clips is also a big selling point
I wouldn’t call it super big, but for sure can be handy for content creation
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer For me personally at least, just love seeing my dog running towards the camera in slow-mo, and being able to pick the best flying up shot with perfect focus to the eyes.
Just wish Sony could add an option to allow deleting the whole sequence of shots from both card slots (Fuji has this option), since I write RAW to slot 1 and JPEG to slot 2.
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer I think for me it's a huge selling point, with short form content a 3 secondish clip & high res single(or multiple) moment photos from one device is big, you would normally have to choose to take photos or video and pull a photo out, or have a video camera and photo camera setup at the same time, or shoot it twice.
I literally listened to all ypu tube videos until I found you saying exactly what I was thinking. Gear matters. All other things being equal.
Thanks for the awesome content! Insanely good camera and advanced compared to my a7IV. Video suggestion; you could show us your workflow how you create the short clips whether is GIF in PS or video editor. I struggled with PS so just used an oline app to do, but it reduced the quality.

Hello there! Your video was really great! I do have a question for you, though. I recently bought the 24-70mm GM lens, and I would like to know if you could suggest a complementary lens that would be good for street photography. Additionally, could you recommend a flash that would work well for the A9 III?

A9III is somewhat overkill for a typical wedding since speed is not relatively needed for portrait shots and most ceremonies/ event halls are indoors with poor lighting. I would love to see a test in challenging light situations. For now A1 and A7RV is the best for speed, auto focus and resolution.
You clearly show why 120 fps makes sense so much can happen/change within a burst. The bigger issue is how can camera companies and maybe software companies (like adobe) help in finding and pre-selecting shots so we can quickly delete the ones we don't want or tag the ones ranges we want to keep for later editing. The issue is not having so many options from a moment but how to keep it workable that will be a interesting problem they need to work on.
Yup! I think the solutions are already here with external software - AI culling, and for sure we’re gonna see it more and more. I’d be surprised if adobe doesn’t implement ai culling / filtering in LR in the upcoming months.
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer yeah the interesting part is companies like sony what can they do in camera. For example its already semi easy to just throw away a whole burst you just took (and have card2 keep them all) but we need quicker and better ways i have several ideas on how that could be done and shared them with sony. Now i hear people say never throw anything away but if the end result is you use 120fps burst way way way less it just means you are also throwing away shots that you could have taken...
Love the ability to shoot at higher shutter speed. It also makes switching between non flash and flash mode super fast. Not sure if i can go back to 24mp for a camera for weddings though. It's gonna mean more lens changing. I wish it were a least 33mp. The 24mm 1,4 and 50mm 1.2 on two A7Crs is so convenient right now. But I did wish the flash sync was higher. 1/160 is annoying. We''l probably have to wait for the A1 mkii for high resolution global shutter camera.

Where is the low light test we typically experience during weddings?
Where is the typical strobe in softbox test ?
Where is dynamic range test ?
Where is camera comparison tests ?
These questions begs for answers before asking us to go order .

Will you be selling your A7RV for these? I’m kinda torn between A9iii and A1. Such a tricky choice.
It is a tricky choice for sure. I don’t know :) I’m considering either going 2x A1 or 2x A9III this year.
Magic - Any issues with the A7R5? I got two for the event photography and videography. It’s working great for me.
@@nithinvadlamudi8363 love them. For my preference I’d love to have some more fps and could use silent shutter, and I’ve been waiting for those a9iii to give me that. But I would prefer 30-ish megapixels stacked sensor than global shutter, and the price is insane so that’s why I’m not fully convinced.
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer Thank you for your response. I changed from Canon to Sony recently. I have gone through most of your videos before the switch and I’m very happy with the gear. I own 24 1.4 and 50 1.4. So, covering events with those lenses and also the crop mode is super helpful. Thanks to you. Great content.

I play different game now. For me switching cameras is also important to have experience with everything there is from Sony. I do often write articles, host workshops and for the TH-cam videos. Before that I used to replace my cameras every 3 years, but now Im in 1 year cycle.
Question! On most sonys, including my a7rv and the a1, the evf feed drops from high quality to normal when starting af-c. Does the a9iii exhibit the same behavior? I'm wanting to record a clean hdmi output while shooting to grab some b roll while taking stills with the blackout free shutter, but i'm bummed that on my camera the quality drops while autofocusing.
It is first Sony 9.44M EVF to use full resolution take to picture and it is totally black out free.. Perfect.
Nope, no image quality drop! Also - turn off antiflicker and the quality drop will be much less visible - FOR REAL!
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer Thanks Magic! I appreciate you. It seems on most cams there are three quality levels, high, mid that happens with af-c, and low from anti flicker. Knowing A9iii stays on high during af-c seals the deal on my purchase.

This week got myself an A1. I did think about the A9MKIII but decided I wanted a higher MP camera more than a faster camera. I never use 20 fps on my A9 so 30 on the A1 will be more than enough. Good to see Sony improve the body shape, Im not a fan of the A1's square ish grip. With flash being such a selling point of the A9III I wonder if Sony will update their now out dated flashes .
A1 is a beauty! Congrats! I love shutter sound on that A1 🌟 and also you have flash sync at 1/320 :) maybe not 1/4000, but at least more than standard!
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer I can also go into crop mode and get 1/500 flash sync and 21mp files. It is odd using a flash in electronic mode. I'm photographing an awards dinner at the tower of London tonight, so will give that a go.

I know you are shooting A7RV but now the A9III is out, money no option what would you shoot weddings with. A9III A1 or A7RV . I'm loving my A1 so that gets my vote, how about you?
I need to shoot more with A9III to see if I like it more. I’m for sure getting one unit, maybe two to replace my A7RV’s, will shoot more and see. But A1 is something I have been also considering… just need that new screen 🙈
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer New screen is nice, I just wanted more MP than my A9 and a stacked sensor. I can now crop a landscape photo and make it portrait and still have a 21MP image. The one thing that would make me get an A9III is if it produces less Moire when photographing people in front of giant LCD panels. Some people say it will be better and others say no.
@@nickwilliams7867 yeah I wanted that too. I was hoping for 30-40mp and stacked sensor in A9III and that would make me more happy then global shutter. But I’ll see how it works in the long run either way
how you get 120fps, i have UHS-II v60 and it's ~30fps... no more

I have dual a1 and a7r5. But I don’t like the latter. I’d sell it any day.
But the reason why I haven’t bought one is as good as it is. I think the a1 II will surpass anything the a9iii has and it’ll be better! lol
Markuspix recently said stop worrying so much about specs and just shoot with wht you have.
I just shot a volleyball game. And every shot with r5 is bad. The ball is oval and the players have a weird elongated look. At 10 fps. The sequence has very little choices but what it does capture I notice eyes are sharp and very little out of focus shots. lol I for got to use mechanical shutter instead of silent. Is silent mode on r5 only good for non moving objects?
Same setup here. I dislike the idea of using an RV because I can't use the silent shutter when the subject is moving, and the mechanical shutter produces an unpleasant sound. However, I really appreciate the articulated screen, and the AI autofocus performs better than the standard autofocus on the A1. I seldom crop my photos, but I need fast autofocus, a silent shutter, and a screen like the one the RV offers. The A9 III is overkill for my needs but is currently the only Sony camera that meets all my criteria. I'll try to wait for the A1 II or consider buying a second-hand A9 III. I'm tired of paying a premium and then reselling my gear for a fraction of the cost. I spent $6,000 on my A1 new last year and can only sell it for a maximum of $4,500, which is disappointing.
@@raf_bw yikes the a1 I bought were 4k and 4.5k used.
@@raf_bw I agree., I've been using the A7RC for weddings, When I started using my A9Mk2, i instantly noticed that the AF was not as good . The AI makes a difference!

You don’t need a A9iii for static subjects / people portraits. Even A7iV will just do fine for that purpose. Perhaps 300mm lens is more enticing than A9iii.
A9iii is overpriced as compared to its predecessor.. it should have been around $5000
