Shao and Reiko have such a surprisingly wholesome bond. Like true brothers in arms loyal to a fault.
considering Reiko is his squire, I'd say it's more akin to Shao being a father figure to him. And I can understand why he would choose to take Reiko in- not only was he impressed with his strength and grit, he saw someone else that had risen above their weaknesses and infirmities just as he did.
He raised Reiko. He is more like his son than anything

General Shao calling Bei Han a traitor is hilarious
In Shao 's own moral view,he didn't betray his homeland and his country/realm.
Subzero on the other hand, did betray his county/realm.
The only thing that matter to Bi-Han is the Lin Kuei, that he will forgo his friends and realm.

While still not a good guy, Shao seems to genuinely believe he can help outworld and seems to actually care about Reiko. Even if he still became a villain we can see the changes Lui Kang made

Dark Khan is a monster formed by the merger of Darkseid and Shao Khan. It is the final boss in Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe.

The first dialogue here is one I find absolutely fascinating. It’s implied that there are numerous Shaos, both Kahn and otherwise, who are actively peaceful and thoughtful about conflict, and we see how the Shao we know reacts to his “drivel”. I think it’d be cool if we saw characters like Havik or Shao return in MK2 through alternate versions who help the main crew combat the new “HaviKahn” we saw survive the Armageddon event in this game. Who better to know your enemies than your enemies themselves, right?
That single line from the “good” General Shao has a lot of implications. He still prioritizes victory and emphasizes the concept of battle, but states that victory and battle are not always the same, and that victory without conflict is greater than that fought over in war. He tries to put it in a way _he_ would understand, but the one we’re familiar with obviously ignores it. Both of them know kombat more than anything else, but we see that the glory and power they both seek can be derived from places of both goodness and evil.
I know this is a massive analysis of something completely inconsequential, but I still like the little details for building so much in just two sentences. The reveal of the now seemingly infinite timelines with different versions of everyone provides really neat angles to look at all the new characters through, and I think Shao is one of the ones who benefitted the most from his new path. He is still the same malevolent and self-motivated brute he was before, but he seriously seems to care about his homeland despite that. He values his own leadership more than anyone else’s because he seriously believes he can lead Outworld to prosperity, it’s just that he only sees a future like that in total dominance, just like he did before. What’s different here is that Shao _Kahn_ had no interest in Outworld besides a means to an end. He would proudly enslave and trample on anyone in the entirety of Outworld so long as he felt superior. _General_ Shao actively seeks for _Outworld’s_ supremacy, not just his own. He leads his armies with pride and believes in making the best army possible, including his soldiers. He enlists and recruits his rebellion rather than subjugating, which I think shows a lot of growth, even if it isn’t in the way Liu Kang hoped for. Essentially, I believe Shao Kahn rules under the assumption that power is his right, while General Shao rules believing that rights are decided by power. There’s a lot of philosophical nuance there, I think.

Okay, We have discovered most of Shao's unknown families, His unknown father, His ancestor and his siblings, Shoda and Tovach. But if still holds some mysteries, Also in mirror dialogues, one of them says "Two Taigores can't share the same mountain" Are they telling us that Shao and his family are Taigores? I thought they were in different breeds of Dragons compare to Shokans...

It’s always funny to me that when making this new timeline, Liu Kang was perfectly fine with Shao Kahn ending up where he did but Shang Tsung and Quan Chi get shitty lives for the exact same reason.

Idk, shao was born as a sick child who was deemed to be weak but his father still gave him a chance, he’s loyal to the outworld royal family and they barely fight wars often, he’s the leader of a massive army that’s supposedly conquered a vast amount of outworld territories yet has also lost tournaments back to back for nearly 10 thousand years to earth realm while he genuinely loves his own realm and it’s people, thinks his realm is being lead on by a leash. His life isn’t terrible but I’d say it’s really boring as hell since he can’t do much
@@rosaurapizarro8176 Yeah but I’d argue that doesn’t make Shao’s life bad per say, just full of hardship as well as having to deal with boredom. Take his life and compare it to Shang who was essentially a snake oil salesman who nobody liked and arguably the most he did was attempt to control the Hourglass at the end of Aftermath. Shao was the entire reason why Liu Kang ended up becoming a revenant in the previous timeline, not to even mention his role in the OG timeline which Liu Kang must have some knowledge of given his role as keeper of time.

This Shao is definitely not evil like Shao Kahn, General Shao is a soldier and grew up a sickly child, and had to fight hard for his current powers and strength, and definitely has more honor, he solely cares about protecting Outworld and taking down any threats to it even the royal family, Shao only turned bad because Shang Tsung twisted his care for Outworld and manipulated him into believing only he could defend Outworld. This Shao is really just a misguided villain and believes he is doing what’s right for his home not for himself.
